Abiding in the state of cherishing the method of abiding, The appearance of the body, the five elements, are not abandoned, Not abandoning, but dwelling in one's own meaning, Thus it is said. This method is to prevent conditions from obscuring awareness, the instruction of the arising of conditioned appearances as the clarity of awareness. It is important for all three: beginners, intermediates, and those who have gained some stability. For one, it transforms the harm of conditions into the path; for one, it serves as training in the skill of the path and appearing in the mirror; for one, it naturally arises as a method to enhance without complacency. Moreover, when the objects of the five senses appear, or when acceptance and rejection, attachment, and strong afflictions arise in the mind, it is when awareness flows forth. When clarity is half-clear, and the essence is naked and exposed, it is clear. This principle is extensively explained in the *Ratnakuta Sutra*: "When phenomena appear as characteristics, My qualities naturally appear, Do not accept or reject this. When experiencing the suffering of beings, My happiness naturally arises, At that time, there is no distinction between happiness and suffering, My qualities are perfected in this. When the forms of hell beings, animals, and hungry ghosts, Appear as objects in the realm, My body plays in this, A person without fear in this, My body is touched by this. When strong attachment to ignorance, hatred, and desire, Arises, My awareness is non-conceptual. This itself is self-liberated, My eyes see this. When thoughts of the mind appear outwardly, My wisdom is naturally pure, Without subsequent judgment in this, My sounds are heard by this. When thoughts of the mind gather, My samadhi is excellent without thought, Without attachment in this, My smells are sensed by this. When coarse forms enter the mind, My self-appearing experience arises, When one and two are exhausted in this, This tastes my flavors. Thus, all that appears and all that is heard, Appear as the play of Samantabhadra, Because the arising of play is uninterrupted, My qualities arise in this. Qualities appear only in this, Therefore, there is no exhaustion and no end, Therefore, the realm of the three bodies and mudras." Thus it is said. Here, appearance and awareness are experienced as one taste, without duality. It is crucial not to mix this with common practices. When something arises, looking at it is the root of conceptual error, and letting it go is the state of not recognizing one's own face.

When meditating, if one cuts off in order not to lose the growing experience, and seeks clarity in between, it leads to biases of acceptance and rejection. For those who lack the essential point of self-arising, it is like not having a dog's great conceptualization on a felt rug. Here, the definitive essential point of the secret heart essence is: Whatever appears or arises, recognize the naked awareness, so that there is no need to rely on anything else. Because at that time, the awareness that cuts off the connection of the three times with the mind, the naked and clear awareness, will self-arise as the realization of the Dharmakaya's own nature, naturally accomplishing itself as the great equality of clear light. For this, whatever arises, do not recall the past, do not contemplate the future, do not judge the present, but remain unwavering in the recognition of the naked, clear awareness. As it says in the "Six Spaces": Whoever does not chase after the past, does not anticipate the future, and leaves the present awareness in its own place, all awarenesses will merge into one without before or after, called "one gathering, one taste," which is the yoga of awareness in the equality of the three times. By the method of self-exhaustion of thoughts, mix samsara and nirvana into non-duality. Cutting off past memories, suppressing future memories, and letting present memories naturally vanish is called the yogi of awareness in the equality of the three times. Do not drill a hole in the past mind, do not lean on the future mind, do not entrust the mind to the present mind, this is the yogi who realizes the equality of the three times. Do not smear dirt on past ignorance, do not abandon future ignorance, do not embrace present ignorance, this is the yogi of awareness in the equality of the three times. Do not become angry at past anger, do not seize future anger with an iron hook, do not fuel present anger, this is called the yogi who realizes the equality of the three times. Do not gather the clouds of past delusion, do not cut off the ground of future delusion, do not rain down the rain of present delusion, this is called the yogi who realizes the equality of the three times. Do not blame the past Buddha, do not anticipate the future Buddha, do not create the present Buddha, this is called the yogi of the equality of the three times. Past desire
