Clinging to added letters and thinking that these four 'Chokshyak' are the methods of abiding in Tögal is a sign of not being connected to the Dharma and not knowing how to apply it to any practice. Like the opening of a wordless lotus, it is applying the sequence of words to one aspect. In general, it can be applied to anything, just as in the 'Guidance of Manifesting Preciousness,' it is said to be applied to all aspects. Whether it is 'Trekchö' or 'Tögal,' one needs to know how to extract the fundamental, transparent awareness nakedly. If one does not know this, it is useless no matter what it is applied to. If 'Trekchö' is mixed with the path of all ignorant meditators, and the method of holding the mind is wasted for a lifetime, one will not transcend samsara. If 'Tögal' clings to things and characteristics, one will stray into the realm of the form realm. Therefore, it is crucial to recognize the naked awareness here. Just knowing this is not enough; one must establish a firm foundation. Therefore, it is important not to move from that state. As a method, many ways of abiding have been taught. First, one must abide in the state of 'Chokshyak' like the ocean, so mastering this is essential. Regarding the sequence of avoiding straying, it is said in the Mūlamadhyamakakārikā: The meditation that does not stray is when the doors of the senses are clear, the mind's conceptual thoughts are not scattered, the mind that examines awareness itself, does not wander outward, is not clear with characteristics, nor has it gone to complete annihilation emptiness, is not continuous bliss, nor has it gone to neutral dullness, remembrance and awareness are clear and relaxed, has passed the wrong path of purification, attachment easily moves inward, attachment with clear images, the transformation of color and letters, if these do not fall into any side, that is the meditation that does not stray. So it is said. Attachment with clear images refers to the external phenomena, thinking this is this and that. The transformation of color and letters refers to the speculative attachment to the inner state of mind. The others are easy to understand. Awareness 'Chokshyak' is: unable to be expressed in words, without a worm-like mind, naturally, without modification or adulteration, merged into the Dharmadhatu, without characteristics, without meditation and the object of meditation, clarity and dullness naturally liberated, self-born wisdom arises. Awareness 'Chokshyak' in Tögal abides in the radiance of the continuum of bindus.

Therefore, here, the key is extremely profound by placing awareness directly on the state of emptiness and nakedness. When consciousness abides in the state of a clear ocean, recognize that awakened, clear, and naked state, and remain without moving from it. In this way, the dharma nature without boundaries, inside or outside, will appear as one. As it says in the wordless verses: The oral instruction of settling the awareness, this is the ultimate of secrets. Furthermore, the intention of cutting through appearances is: Seek the method of settling awareness itself, it is the great secret within secrets, liberating to the other shore with the power of appearances, not bound by attachment, it is self-appearing. Thus it is said. This is called "The Single Bindu Manifesting in Empty Clarity and Nakedness," as it says in that very tantra: The single bindu is without elaboration, it transcends the distinctions of the mind and speech. Thus it is said. The method of staring directly at appearances is: Without abandoning or grasping, the play of awareness is spontaneous. Within the nature of reality, there is no separation or discrimination, without cultivation or attainment, the nature of reality dawns in the expanse. Without abandoning samsara, it is seen by the yogis of the Great Perfection in self-born wisdom. When awareness is clear like a mirror, and the appearance of objects arises without obstruction, the unobstructed play of compassion in awareness knows and meets the objects, grounds, and paths. Although its essence is without conceptualization, the manner of appearance seems to be conceptual. When appearances arise, do not reject them outwardly, do not gather them inwardly, nor settle in the middle, but let them be in their natural state, without straying from the natural state of dharma nature. The clarity of awareness is the basis of all appearances. If it appears as the five objects, it self-manifests as the five Buddhas; if it appears as the five elements, it self-arises as the five great mothers; if it appears as the five poisons, it dawns in the dharmadhatu as the five great wisdoms. Whatever appears, it is not other than its own nature, and since oneself abides in the dharmakaya emptiness, knowing that there is no contamination if one does not grasp onto it. This is known as the intention of Vajrasattva, the dharmakaya without clarity or obscurity. As it says in the wordless verses: The great method of staring directly at appearances is, it is the basis of all great appearances. The appearance of the five elements is like the path of the five Buddhas, the five great ones themselves manifest as the appearance of the mothers. Do not be distracted, rest in the great non-grasping bliss. The five great wisdoms of the great secret mantra, rest in the unmoving dharmadhatu with the five great ones. The awareness of Vajrasattva staring directly, shows all the appearances of the dharmakaya. By staring directly at the appearance of pure wisdom, it is the secret of
