Utterly pure. Thus it is. When the Dharmakaya appears, from the non-existent arises non-existence, showing the image of emptiness as a mere illusion, which is: Appearing as non-existent, yet appearing in various ways, emptiness without being empty, spreading throughout the center and edges, without grasping and holding, yet clinging to self and mine, without a foundation, yet appearing life after life, without affirmation or negation, yet accepting and rejecting happiness and suffering. If one thinks about the meaning of Dharmata, then the appearance of Dharmas is merely a wonderful arising. While the essence transcends existence and non-existence, the way it appears manifests in various ways to itself. Like in a dream, self and others, happiness and suffering, wealth and possessions, good and bad, acceptance and rejection, past and future lives, and so on are dreamed of. In reality, they do not exist, but at that time, they are grasped as existing, thus causing the mind to be completely afflicted. Holding onto the non-existent appearance as self is called acting in illusion. As it is said in the Sutra of the Noble Jewel Talala: All dharmas are like the Sugata, those with childish minds grasp at signs, in the world, they engage in non-existent dharmas. Thus it is said. Now, in order to ascertain how to realize that which is not born from outer and inner dharmas through purity equal to space, there are two parts. First, to establish the appearance of external objects as baseless illusion, empty form. Looking outward, the appearances of beings are very wonderful. Because of clinging to the untrue as true, it seems true. Because of clinging to the unconfused as confused, it seems confused. Because of clinging to the uncertain as certain, it seems certain. Because of clinging to what transcends right and wrong as right and wrong, it seems right and wrong. Because of clinging to the unreasonable as reasonable, it seems reasonable. Thus, the nature of external appearances, its essence is the emptiness of its own nature, merely an illusion. Children who do not understand this reality cling to the self-characteristics of things, thus clinging to outer and inner dharmas, that is, clinging to the untrue as true, clinging to the unconfused as confused, clinging to the uncertain as certain, clinging to what transcends right and wrong as right and wrong, clinging to the unreasonable as reasonable. Various trivial matters delude the mind with objects, meaningless awareness continues moment by moment, days and nights, months, years, and a lifetime pass, deceiving beings by clinging to non-duality as duality. Because the momentary consciousness does not recognize its own nature, it persists in mistaken clinging, and time passes. From many moments, one is confused in an instant, from an instant, one is confused in days and nights.
