The very nature of the appearing mind is liberated. All that appears as form is liberated in a state of no self-nature. The formless are liberated into substance. Dharma is liberated by Dharma, and non-existence is also liberated by non-existence. One is liberated by one, and the appearance of duality is also liberated. Thus it is said. Ignorance dawns as luminosity, the peg of dreams and sleep is, even when intoxicated by sleep such as at night, sleeping in a natural state, free from distraction and absorption, the gross appearance vanishes, so the clinging to it vanishes. Subtle, extremely subtle, along with clinging, vanishes, in a state of equanimity and non-discrimination, the mind of awareness, arising and dissolving, abides naturally, free from hope and fear. When all conceptual thoughts are liberated into the Dharmadhatu, it is said that samsara and nirvana are liberated. Sleep is the ground of ignorance, involuntarily gathering the mind inward. The subtle actions of dreams become latent tendencies, and so on. Therefore, the means of practicing them are taught: grasping dreams, practicing, transforming, cutting, and so on, are taught elsewhere. Here, the practice with the single key point of the non-elaborate nature of reality is: sleeping like a lion, focusing awareness on the nature of awareness without distraction. Sleep gathers conceptual thoughts about external objects, and when it becomes increasingly subtle, if one does not distract from that unbroken awareness, then the winds and mind enter the central channel, and that state of not discriminating anything, and the emptiness that can be recognized, are mixed together, the winds and mind do not scatter outward, so there are no dreams, and one abides in a state of single luminosity. When accustomed, one can see and hear nearby appearances, but the clarity of not discriminating them and non-discrimination become united, and one's own bliss and the three appear together, as it is said in the general statement: after definitely gathering body, speech, and mind, mix the great luminosity with sleep. This is its meaning. The noble lamas greatly value this. Also, at first dreams increase, and eventually cease. The best cease from forgetfulness, the intermediate cease from extreme clarity, and the lowest cease from dreaming of good things. The best and intermediate refer to the mind focusing on the clear state of sleep, and the lowest refers to action. In that very tantra it says: These dreams are many at first, the best forget and finally cease, the intermediate are extremely clear, know that it is the lowest. The lowest is not clear, from then on it changes. Measure them by these.

Arrived. Thus it is said. Sleep being shown as self-born wisdom is: Sleep is also the great expanse of self-born primordiality, When the energies dissolve into the essence of the nature of reality, All elaborations are naturally pacified by clinging to appearances, It is the intention of uncreated self-born wisdom. Knowing during the day, the arising of appearances from energy, is the very clear outward manifestation from self-born wisdom. At night, the clinging to appearances dissolves into energy. As energy dissolves into the base, remaining for a moment in the clear light without any thought is the self-born wisdom of sleep, which is called the time of liberation from samsara and nirvana. From the Sixth Expanse, it says: Sleep should not be abandoned either, It is not cut off separately by the mind. In short, body and speech are separate, The elements of mind are not lost outwards. Even in the six objects of the senses, The mind of awareness and discernment does not change. In the great unthinking of self-appearance, A clear and non-conceptual experience arises. Thus it is said. This also purifies delusion into the nature of reality. In the Overreaching, it says: Whoever meditates on the yoga of sleep, This one turns delusion into the path. The thunderbolt of liberation of afflictions in their own place is: Thus, the mind between wanting and not wanting, The three poisons arise as play from energy, Arising from the expanse and appearing in the nature of the expanse, Since there is no movement apart from the expanse, Without doing any harm or modification, As soon as the expanse itself is recognized, remaining in that state, Self-pacification, self-dissolution, self-liberation is the key. Since samsara and nirvana do not move from the nature of the expanse, it is merely the self-form of baseless emptiness. Afflictions have also never had an essence. There is no place to rely on. Since there is no root of arising, in its own nature, just one "tchok" goes to vast liberation. When the essence of awareness is completely recognized, the afflictions awaken in their own places and go to self-liberation, like pulling out the peg of a vast knot, the rope is released in its own place. If you do not understand in this way, even if you abandon it, you cannot abandon it, like the body and shadow, it revolves around itself. Even if you purify, you cannot purify it, just as purifying white on crystal does not purify it, the purifier and the purified are not different. Even if you transform it, it will not transform, just as the color of turquoise does not change, the mind cannot transform the mind. Even if you let it be self-pacified, it cannot be pacified, because the one who lets go is none other than conceptual thought. It cannot be liberated by an antidote, because wanting the water to be clear
