Moreover, whatever appears is merely a delusion of good or bad, because recognizing the three kayas as appearances on the path, one does not hold onto attachment to appearances. Because awareness is naked and transparent, seeing view, meditation, and fruition as obstacles to awareness, therefore it is especially superior by not relying on the calm and insight of mind-abiding rest. As it says in the Transcendence: The heart essence is definitely gathered, The faculties have no sharp or dull distinction, The limits of mental judgment are exhausted, It is seen by the faculties, not by wisdom. Because words do not see the nature of reality, The common vehicle does not accomplish the meaning. Because the three kayas are appearances on the path, Seeing this is not the turning back of the three realms. Because all dharmas are equal and of one taste, The ground, path, and fruition are not dependent. So it is. Alala, the difference between this vehicle and others is as great as heaven and earth. Even if taught, it is not understood; even if explained, it is not comprehended. Merely grasping onto the words of the Dharma, for those who place recognition on top of previous recognition, because they do not have the karmic connection with the Great Perfection Secret Heart Essence of self-nature, no matter what they do, enlightenment will not come any sooner. It is truly wonderful to laugh at frustration. Now, the method of how to practice the special path is shown: Without negating objects, nor grasping the mind, Self-nature spontaneously equal, abiding without wavering, Arriving at the expanse of the great Samantabhadra's intention. This is the general instruction. In the absence of letters: Primordially unmade, self-arisen abiding, Not transformed by appearances, not fabricated by mind, Abiding in the space of dharmata, is the instruction of intention. So it is said. The inner awareness is clear, empty, transparent, and naked, without moving from its essence. Outwardly, one does not take in the objects of appearance. Inwardly, one does not scatter the mind of thought. In between, one does not bind awareness with the meditation of duality. Rather, one abides naturally in a state of openness and transparency. That is, one inserts awareness into the balance with the four ways of abiding and the three samadhis. The four ways of abiding are: abiding like a mountain, abiding like an ocean, awareness abiding, and appearance clear abiding. The three samadhis are: self-abiding great samadhi, sudden entering great samadhi, and vast expanding great samadhi. Among these, the four ways of abiding are spoken of in conjunction with the stages of arising during practice. First, the ocean-like abiding is shown first, which is neither scattering nor gathering, naturally clear and bright, the clear ocean does not
