Since there is no hope of attaining Buddhahood upwards, the Dharma of the generation and completion stages is not practiced. Since there is no fear of wandering downwards in samsara, purification and confession of its cause, sins and obscurations, are not performed. Since there is nothing to do and no Dharma, karma is exhausted, so there is no attachment to abandoning and attaining samsara and nirvana, and the mind feels at ease. As it says in the "String of Pearls": "From the very beginning, there is no Dharma that comes from outside, Originally, there is only the self-born one. The numbers of one and two are exhausted, The bindu is separated from the moon. Darkness is originally completely pure, The light of wisdom pervades with clarity. Samsara ceases because it has no cause, Originally, it is the state of the self-born Buddha. The objects of signs are empty and clear, The mind of self-grasping is originally exhausted." And so on. Because of realizing that the Dharma is exhausted, liberation is vast, and openness is unreserved, there is no regard for anything, and one is in a state of self-reliance, that is: Whether self-nature is spontaneously accomplished or not, Whether clinging to permanence and annihilation or not, Whether the meaning of Dharma-nature is reached or not, Whether following the footsteps of the superiors or not, Now, there is no difference on this awareness, There is nothing to do with the Dharma. Even if done, it is not Dharma. Existence and non-existence ultimately come to an end. Yes and no reside in the mind. View, meditation, and action ultimately come to an end. Dharma-nature resides in the place of straying. Samsara and nirvana reside in awareness. Awareness resides in transparency. Transparency resides in nakedness. The knowledge of being natural and free is liberated without obstruction. Thinking is conceptualization, meditation is mind. Speaking is words, looking is grasping and being grasped. Abiding is Dharma-nature, acting is samsara. Arising is self-appearance, the natural awareness is liberated in joy and spaciousness. Acting cannot grasp, looking cannot see. Meditation cannot liberate, searching cannot accomplish. Letting go cannot liberate, grasping cannot grasp. The exhausted Dharma, the nameless awareness, is liberated in emptiness and nakedness. There is no gap between samsara and nirvana, there is no trace in transparency. There is no distinction in self-appearance, there is no Dharma in self-liberation. There is no name in the exhaustion of Dharma, there is no calculation in view and meditation. There is no mind in self-awareness, there is no distinction in being natural. There is no basis for arising and ceasing, the self-luminous and unobstructed awareness is liberated in direct pointing and without distinction. Liberated from the place of appearance, emptiness from the place of appearance. Disappearing from the place of movement, not from the place of being. Being from the place of not being, not existing from the place of existing. Existing from the place of not existing, changing from the place of abiding. Abiding from the place of movement, the unobstructed awareness of self-nature is liberated in the contemplation of a flowing river. Even if meditating on existence, it is impossible to be permanent; even if meditating on non-existence, it will fall into annihilation.

Impossible. Even if viewed as existent or nonexistent, it ultimately does not fall. Even if it dawns as right or wrong, it is not categorized. Even if it appears as happiness or suffering, it does not leave a trace. Even if awakened as the nature of reality, the mind does not cling. Even if liberated without interruption, it does not cultivate the nature. The awareness of non-discrimination and impartiality vanishes freely. Let it be existent! Let it be nonexistent! Let it appear! Let it be empty! Let it be right! Let it be wrong! Let it be good! Let it be bad! Let it be realized! Let it be unrealized! The self-liberated, naked, empty, and vanishing awareness vanishes freely, unrestrained, and without a trace! From the beginning, there is no liberation because there is no basis. Not recognizing one's own face, because there is no duality. Not practicing view and meditation, because there is no action. Not cultivating the true nature, because there is no essence. Not abiding in self-nature, because there is no place. Not being liberated in self-nature, because there is no support. Primordially awakened, without dharma, because there is no realm of reality. Ultimately without discrimination, transcending seeing and attainment. The awareness without dharma and action vanishes nakedly! Do not be bound in the box of view and meditation. Do not place it in the empty field of reality. Do not cultivate it in the essence of the true nature. Do not climb on the nakedness of utter abandonment. Do not traverse the narrow path of dawning liberation. Do not abandon it on the plain of self-nature. Do not practice the meaning of self-liberation. Do not entrust it to the inexpressible nature. The unattached awareness, in the unattached plain, the clarity of self-nature seems too noisy. Do not practice dharma. Do not change the mind. Do not welcome the future. Do not chase after the past. Do not grasp the present. Do not cultivate false appearances, but let the unattached, free awareness vanish into the vast expanse of complete liberation! Now, whatever appears, let it awaken freely, transcending the calculation of right and wrong. As it says in the "String of Pearls": However one speaks and acts, it is the activity of clear, empty awareness. Whatever thoughts of good and bad arise, meditation is like the vast expanse of a river. Whatever wrong views or correct views arise, it is the non-discriminating view of a yogi. All clinging to hope and doubt is the fruit of false appearances. This is the moment when it falls into place. Next, the nature of these realizations will be clearly explained: Whatever appears, whether heaven and earth are reversed, is natural, relaxed, without foundation, and false. Without attachment, confused, vague, and unarranged. Without hope or doubt, possessing the demeanor of madness. View and meditation are without discrimination, eliminating attachment and desire. Without bias or clinging, there is no effort or practice of "this is." Why? Because the intention has not moved from the nature of reality, therefore it is liberated in the exhaustion of dharma and the extinction of name.
