Thus, just as appearances arise without ceasing when acceptance and rejection, good and bad, are not established. Knowing that all phenomena of samsara and nirvana are the play of appearance in non-existence. It is taught that yogis who realize the equality of intrinsic nature do not abide in the phenomena of samsara and nirvana, as it is said in "The Lion's Complete Strength": "In one awareness, samsara and nirvana are complete. Self-appearance without grasping, separate from phenomena." And as it is said in "Ornamental Jewel": "Not the object of appearance and appearing. Not non-appearance, all phenomena are completely pure." The time when the Dharmakaya appears, from non-existence, non-existence arises, so it is shown as a mere image of emptiness and appearance. Appearing in non-existence, various appearances arise. Emptiness in non-existence, extending to the ends and the center. Without grasping and grasper, clinging to I and mine separately. Without a foundation, appearing in continuous lifetimes. Without negation and affirmation, doing happiness and suffering, acceptance and rejection. If one thinks about the meaning of Dharmata, then the appearance of phenomena is just a great wonder. While the essence transcends existence and non-existence, the way of appearing appears in various ways as its own. Like dreaming of self and others, happiness and suffering, wealth and possessions, good and bad, acceptance and rejection, past and future lives, etc. in a dream. Although in reality they do not exist, at that time they are grasped as existing, so the mind is completely afflicted. Clinging to non-existence is called acting in illusion, as it is said in the Noble Sutra of the Jewel Heap: "All phenomena are like the Sugatas, fools cling to signs, in the world they act in non-existent phenomena." So it is said. Now, in order to ascertain how to realize that the unoriginated phenomena of outer and inner are pure like space, there are two parts. First, to establish that the appearance in the outer realm is a rootless illusion, an empty form. Looking outward, the appearances of beings are very wonderful. Because of clinging to untruth as truth, it seems like truth. Because of clinging to non-confusion as confusion, it seems like confusion. Because of clinging to uncertainty as certainty, it seems like certainty. Because of clinging to non-being as being, it seems like being. Because of clinging to unreasonableness as reasonableness, it seems like reasonableness. Thus, the nature of outer appearance, the self-nature of emptiness of essence, is merely illusion. Those fools who do not know this reality cling to the self-characteristics of things, and cling to outer and inner phenomena, that is, clinging to untruth as truth.

Holding illusion as illusion, holding impermanence as permanence, holding what transcends right and wrong as right and wrong, holding what is unreasonable as reasonable. Various foolish realms bewitch the mind, meaningless awareness continues in an instant. Days and nights, months and years, and life pass by, deceiving beings with the clinging to duality. Because momentary consciousness does not recognize its own nature, it continuously generates illusion, and time passes. From countless moments, a brief illusion arises; from a brief moment to days and nights; from days and nights to months; from months to years, illusion gradually deepens, and beings are thus deluded. The rootless awareness, the Dharmakaya, is pure like the sky, and although it abides within oneself, it is merely a sudden condition in a state of non-recognition. As stated in the "Pearl Garland": The Dharmakaya is like the sky, sudden thoughts obscure it like clouds. The nature of non-illusion also appears in the mind as illusion. Moments with causes and conditions. And as stated in the "Garland of Jewels": The three paths have no beginning, no end, and no middle. The wheel of samsara is like a wheel of fire. Conditioned phenomena thus transform into samsara. Thus, beings cling to the self-nature of illusion, while the same appearance seems to yogis as merely a play of illusion, because illusion is rootless and baseless. The self-nature of awareness, primordial purity, transcends illusion and non-illusion, like the sky. This self-appearance is the self-luminous and pure Dharmakaya, called the appearance of the great groundless purity. Its essence does not establish awareness or non-awareness, samsara or nirvana, etc. The yogi realizes the present clear and transparent state, and not departing from this state, the illusion of external objects, the empty form of illusion, is purified in the realm of the ground appearance of Dharmata, and is called the yogi whose samsara is nameless and pure like the sky. As stated in the "Pearl Garland": Although the realm appears as such, in the primordial purity, it cannot be said to be illusion. What is non-illusion then? Therefore, illusion is primordially pure. In that great ground appearance, there is no imputation of ignorance, so there is no establishment of illusion. Because the mind has never been intentional, there is no name of defilement or illusion, no collection of names and letters.
