The abode of the Sambhogakaya (Sanskrit: देवकाय, deva-kāya, heavenly body) is the pure lands of the five families and the stacked mansions of Akanishta (Sanskrit: ogmin, Akaniṣṭha, the highest heaven). The abode of the Nirmanakaya is the various unpredictable self-manifestations of those to be tamed, such as Vulture Peak Mountain. Among the three times, the time of the Dharmakaya (Sanskrit: धर्मकाय, dharma-kāya, Dharma body) is inexpressible, the time of the Sambhogakaya is the clear and pure continuous wheel, and the time of the Nirmanakaya is the gathering of favorable conditions for the arising of the Dharma. Explaining the specific definition of Bodhicitta: In the vast expanse of the self-arisen primordial wisdom, Primordially stainless, unsoiled by samsara, is "Bodhi." Qualities spontaneously accomplished, transcending cause and effect, is "Citta." The essence of self-awareness, luminous and pure, is "Mind." Bodhicitta is the complete gathering, utterly pure. Because the nature of awareness is primordially without stain, and has never experienced samsara, it is called "Bodhi." Because the essence itself has qualities spontaneously accomplished, it is called "Citta," because it is capable of manifesting anything. Because compassion pervades all, it pervades samsara and nirvana, and because it is luminous and arises as individual self-awareness, it is called "Mind." However, the mind of conceptual thoughts and mental events is an impure manifestation from the play of skill, so it is not Bodhicitta. Because it is the mind of samsara, its substance is contradictory. There is a difference between skill and the play that manifests from skill. In the Kunje Gyalpo it says: "The meaning of Bodhi is like this: The essence, Bodhicitta, is self-arisen, primordially utterly pure. All that is done by the Kunje Gyalpo, is utterly pure in Samantabhadra (Sanskrit: समन्तभद्र, Samantabhadra, the all-good), therefore it is called Bodhi. The meaning of Citta is like this: The essence, self-arisen wisdom, appearance and existence, and that which is contained by the vessel and essence, all Buddhas of the three times, sentient beings of the three realms and six classes, and all that is such, in all is Citta, pervadingly present, therefore it is called Citta. The meaning of Mind is like this: The essence, self-arisen wisdom, appearance, existence, vessel, and essence, all, enters and powerfully clearly cuts, therefore it is called Mind." So it is said. The conclusive summary of the reason is: In the self-nature that arises from the play of skill, enlightenment and sudden Buddhahood, and the manifestation of ignorance and delusion, from the Alaya (Sanskrit: आलय, ālaya, storehouse consciousness) arise the eight consciousnesses and their objects, the appearance of existence, vessel, and essence, whatever play manifests, not from the expanse of Bodhicitta.

There is no movement. In the unchanging, equal state of mind, samsara and nirvana are liberated into the vast expanse of awareness. The mind of enlightenment, like a flawless jewel, spontaneously manifests its pure potential in its transparent nature. Realization, like a sudden event, appears as a Buddha free from defilements, yet it has not moved from the appearance of awareness itself. Due to non-realization, sentient beings deluded by ignorance, with their containers and contents, and the eight consciousnesses, have also not moved from the nature of awareness. Whatever appears to each individual is said not to have moved from the nature of their own awareness. However, there is no such thing as all phenomena becoming one taste and unchanging in a common nature of awareness, because that is impossible in the realm of knowable objects. The alaya consciousness, the root of mind, is unmentioned ignorance. Within it, the essence of the alaya consciousness is merely non-conceptual purity; the five sense consciousnesses are merely non-conceptual self-illumination; the mind consciousness, with conceptualization, is merely grasping objects and non-conceptual one-pointedness; and the afflicted mind consciousness dwells in the state of arising in any of the three poisons. These too arise as the play of the potential of awareness, and although they do not truly exist in the nature of awareness, they appear as all the defiled phenomena of samsara in mere clear appearance. Thus, the basis from which all arises and appears, awareness, is similar to a jewel, a treasury, a mirror, a crystal ball, brocade, a great garuda, a lion, an ocean, the sky, and the earth. As the Garland of Pearls says: "Suchness of mind is like a jewel, fulfilling needs and desires; like a treasury, complete with necessities; like a mirror, reflecting whatever is shown; like a crystal ball, clear and without stain; like brocade, displaying various appearances; like a great garuda, without contraction or expansion; like a lion, perfecting the power of sight; like an ocean, deep, complete, and pervasive; like the sky, naturally liberated; like the earth, stable in all things; surpassing all objects." However, these are merely examples, representing only certain aspects, and are not entirely the same. Those with little wisdom, due to the self-nature of words, think that everything is the same, or use wrong views as examples. For example, taking a jewel as an example, only to illustrate the aspect of having complete and perfect qualities, but then clinging to its inanimate nature, and so on. Here, those who do not understand the point are hesitant.
