Ga la! Constantly arises. Since the nature of afflictions is primordially pure, The five poisons do not mix, self-luminous wisdom arises. Since faults and virtues shine forth as great wisdom, The desire for acceptance and rejection naturally dissolves and arises. Since there is realization of no other appearance in the essential meaning, Memory and thought become clear in the state of dharmata, Since the mind itself, like a jewel, is found within oneself, Freedom from the fear of death and transition arises without dread. Since one sees the meaning of the Buddha in the dharmata of one's own mind, The bondage of diligence, hope, and fear is released and arises. Such a yogi is manifestly enlightened. The six certainties of the mind becoming vastness are: Realizing all phenomena as the Middle Way, free from extremes, And realizing spontaneous, clear light as great bliss, And realizing equality as great bliss, And realizing non-duality as the single bindu, And realizing spontaneous, unconditioned greatness, And realizing primordial purity as the ultimate perfection, Yet there is no one who desires to realize these, And since there is no mind that boasts of realization itself, The illusory yoga is beyond comparison. Thus, the six ways of liberation through realization are: From the very moment external objects appear, Liberation upon appearance is like ice dissolving into water. From the moment internal phenomena of awareness are cognized, Liberation upon cognition is like a bubble dissolving into water. From the moment dualistic thoughts arise in between, Liberation upon arising is like lightning flashing in space. From the very moment names and sounds are uttered, Liberation upon naming is like the echo of a rock. From the very moment one desires to grasp onto tenets, Liberation upon desire is like a rainbow dissolving in the sky. Liberation is achieved at the very moment the result of accomplishment is achieved, Just as a wish-fulfilling jewel fulfills all needs, Self-liberation of nature, antidote liberated in its own place. Nameless, beyond objects, spontaneously accomplished in the mind. Thus, the best are liberated in birth, death, and the bardo, The middling are liberated in the dharmata bardo, This is to be known through the two sets of six. The six ways of abandoning the aggregates of the body are: At the time when the outer and inner merge into the mind, It is the time of separation from the object to be grasped. At the time when the mind itself merges into the power of wisdom, It is the time of natural separation from the grasping mind. At the time when the wisdom of awareness and habitual patterns merge into the aggregates, The earth element dissolves into water, the body cannot support itself, One must perform transference, and foul odors of feces and urine arise, The water element dissolves into wind.

When essence merges into the forehead, the body's limbs separate. Dust accumulates on the face, saliva and nasal mucus flow. Earth, fire, and wind dissolve, the water of the mouth and nose dries up, The body loses warmth, and the radiance of the mouth and nose diminishes. At this time, if warmth gathers at the soles of the feet, One is born in hell; in the secret place, as a preta (hungry ghost); At the navel, as an animal; at the heart, as a human; At the throat, as an asura (demigod); at the eyes' convergence, one is born as a deva (god); When warmth vanishes from the crown of the head, one attains the unsurpassed fruit. At the time when the winds of the winds dissolve into consciousness, External breath accumulates and arises, unable to be drawn inward. The eye's own light fades away like a lamp, External breath ceases, and consciousness dissolves into clear light. Internal breath ceases, and body and mind separate, The body is left there, and wisdom dawns in the expanse of reality. These are the ways of dissolution that occur initially. The second group of six, concerning the ways of liberation of the faculties, Of the six ways, the first is explained: For those with the sharpest faculties, The bardo (intermediate state) does not appear; as soon as the body's bonds are loosened, In the great perfection of the direct perception of reality, self-awareness arises, And one abides, free from the extremes of elaboration. The second, for those with dull faculties, Liberation is attained in the third instant, In the first instant of the separation of body and mind, The self-aware dharmakaya (truth body), the great non-conceptual clarity, arises. In the second instant, the sambhogakaya (enjoyment body) appears as rays of light, In the third instant, liberated in clear light, One abides in the nature of the dharmakaya, equal like space. The third, for those of middling sharpness, for one or Three days, one abides in a non-conceptual, unconscious state, When that clears, it dawns as the light of wisdom, The body's own light, the speech's own sound, and The mind's rays of light, at the time when they appear for five days, One is liberated by recognizing one's own nature in body, speech, and mind. The fourth, for those of middling dullness, For three or five days, one abides in an unconscious state, When that clears, the five wisdoms radiate clear light, Without fear arising, one is liberated in the fearless self-appearance. The fifth, for those with the sharpest of the lowest faculties, For three days, awareness abides in an unconscious state, When that clears, the clear light of the five wisdoms, After five days are complete, the appearance of wisdom fades, In the light, objects appear; in the sound, rays of light; and At the time when conceptual thoughts appear in the rays of light, Memories of past objects, wealth, and people, When memories arise, remembering the previous dharma, Antidotes arise, and in the self-arising wisdom of non-grasping, The bardo appearances are liberated, Perfect enlightenment is manifested in the nature of reality.
