Mind is the action of thought, and thinking is the action of body and speech; each of these has three aspects: virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral. Afflictions are things like desire. Cessation is the complete pacification of suffering along with its causes, and it is divided into two types: with remainder and without remainder. The path is that which, after knowing suffering, abandons its cause, accumulation, and manifests cessation, the five paths rely on one's own continuum. The ultimate cause is that the ultimate basis of the composition of gross forms is the indivisible particle, and the basis of the composition of consciousness is the indivisible moment of time; these two exist ultimately, and it is believed that gross things are composed from them. The view that Arhats are ultimate is that an Arhat who has passed into nirvana without remainder will not fall into samsara because the cause of being born in the three realms has been exhausted, and will not become a Buddha because they are determined to be of the Hearer lineage; like a lamp with exhausted oil, they will definitely pass into nirvana. The view that there is no basis of all is that the six consciousnesses exist in turn, but other than that, there is no basis of all because it is not observed. If there were a stable mind that is the basis of everything, it would become the self of a person, so it is unreasonable. The view that there is no Great Vehicle is that the Vinaya Pitaka, the four divisions, etc., are the words of the Buddha, but the Hundred Thousand Verses of the Perfection of Wisdom, etc., are not the words of the Buddha because they were made by demons and heretics in order to undermine the teachings, because they appear to contradict the Three Baskets and the Four Seals, etc. The view that there are no ten grounds is that it is impossible to remain in samsara for many eons after seeing the truth; a person who can accumulate the accumulations of three countless eons on the ground of an ordinary being, who is capable of becoming a Buddha, can manifest up to the decisive factor in one night on one seat. The view that the Buddha is self-continuum is that some excellent individuals can endure samsara for countless eons, learn the Hearer's path, and accumulate many accumulations of eons to attain enlightenment, but most others cannot do that because suffering is great in samsara and they cannot benefit wild and untamed beings. Therefore, the so-called Buddha is a noble individual who is self-continuum, not an emanation body, because they have bleeding and back pain, etc.

It exists with a remaining portion of the ripening aspect. It is not always in equipoise either, as the scriptures say that after rising from meditative absorption, they go for alms. It is believed that after passing into nirvana, their activity for the benefit of beings ceases. To refute this: The four truths are not established in the ultimate sense, because if we examine the basis, the container, the contents, the aggregates, the elements, everything, they are not established anywhere. Abandoning, befriending, separation, attainment, all are merely imputed and not established in reality. There are no physical atoms that compose things, because when composing something coarse, the atoms must touch in one direction or in all directions. If they touch in one direction, they would become partitive. If they touch in all directions, the aggregate itself would become as small as an atom, so composing by touching is impossible. If they compose without touching, other atoms of light and darkness would enter in between, and there would be room for others to enter between them, so it would follow that a thousandfold world system could fit inside a mustard seed, etc. These kinds of arguments are not reasonable. Furthermore, if we examine the direction of the sun's shadow, length, and the movement of an arrow, etc., there is no truly established ultimate atom. Momentariness with time is also not truly existent, because the middle moment either touches or does not touch the previous and subsequent moments. If it touches, it touches gradually or simultaneously. If it is the former, it becomes partitive, and if it is the latter, an eon becomes a moment. If it does not touch, it would be interrupted by another time in between. Furthermore, does the intermediate moment separate the two initial and final moments? If it does not separate, then because many are connected, we cannot know the length. If it separates, then because it exists in the middle, it would become two parts facing the front and back. An Arhat's nirvana is not ultimate, because the obscurations of the afflictions to be abandoned are not completely exhausted, and the nature of mind is luminosity, possessing the seed of the Buddha-essence, because defilements are adventitious, and as long as all defilements are not exhausted, the mind-stream cannot cease, because the cause for projecting the mental body, etc., is complete, and the cause for complete abandonment and realization must be learned from the beginning. It is also unreasonable to say that there is no all-ground consciousness, because if there is no all-ground consciousness as a basis, it is impossible to exist continuously. Taking a body in samsara, and turning away from samsara is impossible, because there is no basis for habitual tendencies, etc., and the six
