It is not reasonable for consciousness to arise after the cessation of consciousness, because it is discontinuous and without continuity. Furthermore, when all appearances are established as mind by the power of reasoning, the basis of habituation cannot be a temporary consciousness. Therefore, it should be understood that there is a common basis, the ālaya-vijñāna. It is also unreasonable to say that the Mahāyāna does not exist, because it is not only not contradictory to the meaning of the three baskets and the four seals, but it is also established as superior to the teachings of the lower vehicle. Moreover, the path to Buddhahood is incomplete in the Hīnayāna, because the Mahāyāna is complete and it is established by reasoning that the path and fruit are supreme. Therefore, it is established that the Mahāyāna exists. There are ten bhūmis, because in the state of an ordinary being, one has not obtained the powers and cannot complete all accumulations. Moreover, because there are many obstacles on the path due to afflictions, it is reasonable to accumulate merit even after attaining the noble path. Furthermore, there is no contradiction in the gradual arising of the wisdom of the ten bhūmis, which are the antidotes to the ten obscurations to be abandoned, and there is a proof for it. If a Buddha were a self-existent person with karmic results, without having abandoned obscurations and ignorance, and if the benefit of beings were interrupted after death, without compassion, etc., then the omniscience of such a temporary person would be unreasonable. At the time of Buddhahood, when the essence of clear light, purified of all defilements, is manifested, although various emanations of the Nirmāṇakāya appear due to the power of taming beings to be tamed, it is established that they do not exist in the form of self-existence. Secondly, in the statement of the views of each school, there are two views: the Vaibhāṣika and the Sautrāntika. First, if only the most important views of the Vaibhāṣika are stated, there are five bases of knowledge, destruction is other than the object, the three times are substantially existent, the inexpressible self, consciousness does not know itself and the object, name and meaning are different, and non-perishable matter. Thus, understanding or knowing the meaning of the treatises of the seven types of views is also not correct, because they are mixed with various elements tainted by sectarian bias. Among them, the five bases of knowledge are: the basis of form is the four great elements, earth, water, fire, and wind. The resultant forms are the five sense faculties: eye, ear, nose, tongue, and body, and the five objects: form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. There are also eleven non-revealing forms. The main basis of mind is meaning.
