As proof, the qualities of the self, the objects of pleasure and pain, are established as characteristics. The Tirthikas establish non-creation as a characteristic to prove that sound is permanent. The naked ascetics establish the withering of leaves and the drying of bark when peeled as characteristics to prove that trees have consciousness. The Samkhyas establish death upon peeling the bark as a reason to prove that objects are animate. The Vaisheshikas establish having life as a reason to prove that a living body possesses a self. These are vows seen in accordance with worldly discriminations. Reason. Established as eighteen by proving with three examples. The seven meditations and beliefs are: The Pūraṇa Kāshyapa meditates without even conventional truth. The Samkhyas meditate on emptiness, explaining transformations. The Ajivikas meditate on emptiness, abandoning appearances. Jāyadhara considers the six consciousnesses and their objects as faults and meditates single-pointedly on non-conceptualization. The Vaisheshikas consider memory as a fault and meditate single-pointedly on non-memory. The Shivas consider everything as mind and meditate without distraction from that mind. The Lokayatas abandon all thoughts of pleasure and pain and meditate like the sky. The nature, classifications, experiences, and four fruits of each of these samadhis are divided into twenty-eight in total. The six teachers are the former Pūraṇa Kāshyapa, Makkhali Gosala, etc. The view of most of these six teachers is nihilism, which is also one path. They prove with three examples and four methods. What is to be proven are: no cause and effect, no past and future lives, no liberation, and no invisible beings. One path is: because it is not seen in the object of one's own sense consciousness. The three examples are: the example of no cause is mushrooms sprouting on the grass. The example of no result is ashes scattered in the wind. The example of arising from nature is the sun rising and rivers flowing downwards, etc. The four methods are: although there are no past and future lives, there is a way in which the present world exists. Although there is no transformation of the self, etc., there is a way in which the body is formed with its own nature. The earth, etc., produces the cause capable of generating consciousness, just as the ability to become intoxicated from alcohol is a way of suddenly forming, or without practice, one is liberated by naturally ceasing after death. If one understands in this way, there is no need for the labor of practicing the path and asceticism, therefore the four methods of explaining that the tenets of the Lokayatas are not meaningless. Proof.

Through those eight doors, from the aspect of accomplishing the four things to be accomplished, they are divided into thirty-two. The six ministers are: Fearless Attainment, Sun and Moon Fame, Essence Attainment, Truth Attainment, Knowledge Speaker, and Auspicious Attainment. They only enjoy what is beneficial in this life, not according to the wishes of both inner and outer, considering unseen beings and the like to be meaningless. They only value what is directly experienced in the present world as true, and primarily examine the good and bad that benefit it. Therefore, they study the constellations, stars, seasons, and the teachings of the gods, that is, the laws of the king, and examine elephants, etc., protect the government, that is, study the six treasuries of knowledge. Among them, the parts that should be known by the king, ministers, wise men, merchants, and the five classes of people are thirty. There are six kinds of fundamental common knowledge, totaling thirty-six kinds. The four incidental occurrences are: having the consciousness of attachment, infatuation, distraction, and extreme distraction. The four are: being attached to and infatuated with the happiness of this life, and if indulging in distraction and extreme distraction, they believe they will be liberated. The six schools of logic are: the Hailstone Donkey-Driving School, the Wall-Peel Flesh-Eating School, the Fox-Head Skull School, the World-Distant Throwing School, the Cause-and-Effect Annihilation School, and the Empty Talk Meaningless School. These are separated from those who claim no cause. The four constant views are: nature, agent, sovereign, and time constant view, these four are separated from the constant view. The two abbots are: the permanent teacher Shangka Copper-Holder and the annihilation teacher Bhri Vahati, these two are the root of permanence and annihilation. The secret saying at the end of the Vedas is a distinction of practitioners, which will be explained below. Thus, the three hundred distinctions from the Head-Equal to the Secret One are based on the present extreme. The eighteen that rely on the prior extreme and the forty-four that rely on the posterior extreme are as previously stated, totaling three hundred and sixty-two. If these are summarized, they do not go beyond the two extremes of permanence and annihilation. If it is permanent, then things will fall into the fault of not having coarse and subtle changes, and permanence is not compatible with the meaning of being able to function, so there is no permanence. Likewise, there is no annihilation, because existing things depend on their own causes and conditions, fire
