Although they say they are free from the extremes of existence and non-existence, they do not know the basis of separation and hold the view of the summit of existence. Since they have become outsiders to this teaching, it is permissible to smear themselves with the ashes of the Sky-Minded ones. They slander this profound and peaceful nectar gate of the ultimate truth of Dharma-nature. Although they say that in words they have transcended the extremes of existence and non-existence and are free from all elaborations, for separation, what is the defilement to be separated from, and on what does the basis of separation need to be? Here, since you Sky-Minded ones, who lack both of these, have become outsiders to the Shakya's teachings, even if it is good, that view of the summit of existence will sow the seeds of samsara, and mostly you will go to the lower realms. Holding wrong views, you belong to the Purvaka sect, only the clothing is not complete. Now, if you abandon the saffron robes and smear your body with the ashes of sorrow, then everything will be the same, and in all directions it will be permissible to be the same. In summary, the treasury of Dharma spoken by the teacher here is the essence of all, the path of the summit of clear light, which is called the nature of the spontaneously accomplished ground. It should be known that this is the last teaching of the Buddha, and in the secret mantra, this nature of the spontaneously accomplished ground is highly praised. The need and benefit of knowing is that by knowing this ultimate of the profound view, one is liberated from straying and obscurations, and is free from all permanence and annihilation. Practice becomes meaningful, one quickly attains enlightenment, and one possesses the eye to see all sutras and tantras. Therefore, please know the nature of clear light. If one knows the profound essence, the heart of the Sugata, the nature of the clear light, without error, one will not stray into the wrong paths of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, nor into the samadhi of the summit of existence, and one will be liberated from the extremes of permanence and annihilation. Practicing liberation becomes meaningful, one quickly attains enlightenment, and one possesses the eye to see all definitive sutras and tantras. Therefore, one becomes skilled in their meaning. Here, some Tibetan teachers and meditators, such as Zulum Pa, say that this secret mantra and the view of the Mind-Only school are the same, and that it is the summit Madhyamaka. Why? Because they say that the basis of meaning is unchanging and that they want to change the place. This seems to be a misunderstanding of the direction. The Mind-Only school believes that the mind is unchanging and permanent, and that mere awareness is self-illuminating. But here, the spontaneously accomplished

Uncreated, beyond permanence and annihilation. It is not the same as desiring a realm of perfectly accomplished qualities. The Mind-Only school believes that the Alaya-consciousness, the eight consciousnesses, transforms into wisdom. Here, by refuting those, merely manifesting the self-arisen wisdom is established as transformation, the difference between the two is extremely great. Therefore, one should listen to those who are wise, and initially discuss the supreme Dharma, this is the key instruction. From the Great Vehicle's treatise of evil speech, the "Wish-Fulfilling Treasure," the extensive commentary on the eighteenth chapter, which establishes the nature of reality, is completed. The Nineteenth Chapter: Commentary on the Chapter of Preliminaries to Meditation. Having thus understood the basis to be realized, in order to practice its meaning, first, the preliminary Dharma for meditating on the meaning is taught, that is, having thus understood the nature of reality, one should meditate. Among these, the first preliminary is: After taking refuge and generating the mind of enlightenment, meditate on the stages of outer and inner secret mantras. The Great Vehicle's secret mantra yogi practices the union of generation and completion stages, so first, after taking refuge and generating the mind, one should meditate on a single deity hero from any desired tantra, or a single union of father and mother, or any mandala, whether elaborate or concise, as a preliminary. Among these, the first aspect, taking refuge, requires identifying the object of refuge, so there are two objects of refuge, cause and effect, and two acts of taking refuge. The object of the cause is the Three Jewels gathered from others' continuums, and taking refuge is for the sake of accomplishing the result, taking refuge in the manner of a teacher and companion. The object of the result is the Three Jewels that will arise in one's own continuum in the future, and taking refuge is doing good and engaging in the cause with the aspiration to accomplish that. Here, practicing the mandala of the deity of the generation and completion stages is for the sake of the result, and accumulating merit in the field of merit is for the sake of the cause. Thus, taking refuge encompasses all practices. Now, distinguishing them separately, first, the object of taking refuge is the Three Jewels themselves, which are the object of the cause, which have already appeared in others' continuums, the three bodies of the Buddha possessing abandonment, realization, and activity, and the Dharma is cessation and path.
