Therefore, both are without a basis. In the 'Heart Sutra Commentary,' it says: 'Therefore, the basis of all dharmas, without a place to dwell, like illusion and magic, peaceful, without existence or non-existence, emptiness is always meditated upon.' And in the 'Ornament of Clear Realization,' it says: 'That which is without a basis, without going, without arising.' Thus, the entirety of the two conventional truths is established here as conventional, and it is determined that they are not established. In the 'Ornament of the Sutras,' it says: 'Whatever another desires as his wife, that is another's wife. Whatever is another's ultimate truth, that is another's conventional truth.' Therefore, although conventionalists consider it ultimate truth, when analyzed with intelligence, there is nothing other than grasping at things and general meanings as non-existent, so it becomes conventional. At this time, the conventional truth is like a dream, and clinging to the distinctions of what is not established is also the nature of non-establishment, whose nature is like the sky. Its nature is primordially pure, and luminous ultimate truth is without duality, samsara and nirvana are without distinction, and the two truths are without duality. Samsara is conventional, and the nature of the two conventional truths is primordially unestablished. There is no difference between that unestablished part and the spontaneously accomplished luminosity, because samsara is unestablished, so nothing can be established in the unestablished part. Therefore, luminous ultimate truth is the nature of nirvana, and samsara is primordially pure. Since the characteristics of establishment and non-establishment contradict each other, it should be known that there is no difference. If it is said that nirvana is not established, that is intended to prevent clinging to imputation, and it does not mean non-establishment due to the cessation of characteristics. To summarize its meaning: Although it appears thus, samsara is not established, it is without self-nature, and there is no dharma to distinguish it separately from the ultimate truth of the realm of reality. Therefore, it is shown that samsara and nirvana are without distinction, and are of equalness. The unestablished part of samsara, which appears but is not established, and the ultimate truth of the purity of the essence of reality, cannot be mixed because one dharma contradicts the other. Because it is not defiled by samsara, it is shown to be primordially pure in essence, so it is without distinction, just as there is no such thing as the non-distinction of mixed appearance and darkness. Because samsara is not established, there is no dharma to distinguish it, and therefore it is also said to be without distinction from luminosity.

Are there no distinctions between day and night? Like things and rabbit's horns. Therefore, is there no distinction in truth? The meaning of no distinction between samsara and nirvana. Other thoughts besides this are wrong views, completely confused about the meaning of reality. Both samsara and nirvana are merely appearances, the essence of no self-nature is the distinction, ultimately neither is established, so there is no object of distinction, which is also confused and ignorant of the meaning of the supreme vehicle. If you distinguish at the time of appearance, it is unreasonable not to distinguish as it appears. The two parts of no self-nature, because samsara and nirvana are not other, if samsara and nirvana appear to be distinguished, then no self-nature is also distinguished, like a pillar and a vase. Ultimately there is no samsara, but if there is no liberation, then effort is meaningless, and samsara etc. have many faults. In nature, samsara is not established but appears, ultimately it is established but does not appear now, it is established as appearing at the time of enlightenment. Now, holding on to nothing in the form of mental discrimination is itself a nihilistic view, so those who want liberation should not rely on it. In nature, there is no establishment or non-establishment of imputation, but the establishment that abides in meaning exists, which is what is said in the profound tantras. Speculative wisdom is like vomit, and should not refute profound intentions, because it is superior to other establishments, and is inconceivable by the wisdom of the other shore. The Commentary says: This is the only other establishment, and at no time should refutation be expressed by relying on other schools. Samsara is not established but appears, because it suddenly appears due to the influence of confused causes and conditions, before the confused appearance returns, it is important to cherish the acceptance and rejection of cause and effect, in the confused appearance, cause and effect exist as they appear. Therefore, it is important to know how to accept and reject good and evil. Just as during the appearance of illusion, it is necessary to rely on mantras and wooden chips and pebbles, and from this illusion is accomplished, so during the existence of impure appearances, it is important to accept and reject both good and evil. The Ratnavali says: As long as there is self-grasping, there will be attachment to it. If there is attachment, there will be karma, and from that karma will arise. Three paths, without beginning, end, or middle, the samsaric
