Obtaining the harvest of the year of wisdom is itself the most excellent. Among all footprints, the footprint of the elephant king is the most excellent. Among all concepts, the concepts of impermanence and death are the most excellent. Because this can dispel all the concepts of the three realms. As it is said in the Vinaya Sutra: Giving offerings with provisions to a hundred monks is not as excellent as a moment of thinking about the impermanence of conditioned phenomena. Now, the signs and standards of being accustomed to it are shown: The standard of being accustomed is seeing conditioned phenomena decay. The diligent one fears and abandons the affairs of this life. Not staying in ordinariness for even a moment. Renunciation and disgust arise, and the mind becomes narrow. From thinking about impermanence day and night, seeing any appearance as decaying, therefore, from the depths of the heart, a mind that does not cling to external objects arises, and a mind that is like a burning fire of diligence in virtue arises, and an extraordinary fear of the suffering of samsara arises from the depths of the heart, and knowing that one cannot escape death in any way, one abandons the affairs of this life, and not staying in ordinariness and ease for even a moment, one practices the Dharma with the three doors, and seeing the ripening of karmic results, renunciation and disgust arise, and because one knows that there is no certainty when one will die, one does not develop dependence on anything. These are the signs and standards of being accustomed to impermanence from the depths of the heart. Now, the benefits of being accustomed in this way are concluded: Its benefits are extremely vast, it can abandon the faults of samsara, and virtues naturally gather. Liberation from the clinging to permanence, pacifying the attachment and aversion to enemies and friends, diligently striving for virtue, knowing that this life is illusory. Perfectly completing the two accumulations, being famous, being seen by the gods, passing away peacefully, going to the higher realms, and quickly obtaining the state of immortal nectar. When impermanence is well born in the mindstream, disgust and aversion to the laws of samsara arise from the depths of the heart, thus having the benefit of diverting attention from the laws of this life. The way to abandon attachment is to think that it is of no use in any way, and that one will surely die, like a son caught by his father's killer, or like a fish caught in a net, or like a condemned person handed over to the executioner, or like entering a nest of poisonous snakes, or like entering the mouth of a rakshasa, or like entering the island of rakshasis, or like entering the mouth of a crocodile, or like being swallowed by the ocean.

Like a collapsing house, like a sinking boat in water, like being deceived by a ferryman in a dangerous place, like falling into an inescapable cliff, like being shot in the heart with an arrow, knowing that it is of no use anyway and abandoning the affairs of samsara, apart from nirvana, always connected to suffering like an enemy, for impure bodies and desires, who would like to benefit and eliminate suffering? There is no attachment to impermanent desires. So it is said. Many unprecedented qualities also arise in the continuum, transforming from the thought of permanence, without attachment or aversion to enemies and friends, always striving for good deeds, knowing this life as an illusion, perfecting the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, possessing fame in accordance with the Dharma, the intentions of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, ending life with joy and happiness, being born in the world of good destinies and high places, encountering the supreme Dharma as soon as one is born, the Lama virtuous friend, always having autonomy, in Buddhism going forth, being able to cultivate pure conduct to the end of life, spending day and night with the Dharma, practicing the Mahayana Dharma, associating with supreme beings, quickly attaining perfect enlightenment, etc., the door of immeasurable benefits is spoken of. In the Mahayana Upadesha treatise "Wish-Fulfilling Treasure", the commentary on the fourteenth chapter, Thinking About the Impermanence of Life, is completed. Fifteenth, Commentary on the chapter on Thinking About the Nature of Faith. Having thus understood the nature of impermanence, in order to exhort to enter into thinking about the nature of faith, which is the root of all dharmas, after thus understanding the nature of impermanence, cherish the army of faith as the only one. On the path to liberation, faith alone is essential, as it is said in the Ratnavali: Only the faithful rely on the Dharma, only the wise truly know, of these two, wisdom is essential, but its guide is truly faith. Also, as it is said in the Ratnakuta Sutra: White dharmas do not arise in people without faith, just as seeds burned by fire do not produce green shoots. Also, as it is said in the Uttaratantra:
