Why must you definitely think from the depths of your heart that it will not perish? The Sutra of the Minor Nirvana states: "A place where conditioned things remain constant will not be found." The Samadhiraja Sutra states: "When this world realm arises, and having arisen, it decays, this world realm ceases to exist. Just as before, so it is later; know all dharmas to be thus." Even in a precious palace adorned with the four continents, even if the appearance of a splendid land is well arranged, it will be destroyed without a single particle of dust remaining. Look at it turning into a nature of nothingness! The body and enjoyments that are closely taken, and all the appearances of this life, are all impermanent, illusory in nature, and will deceive you. No matter what you think, there is no essence; no matter what you think, it will not help. Therefore, diminish your mind with renunciation and sorrow, and from today onwards, treasure the sacred Dharma! This is the concluding verse. Therefore, look at the appearing phenomena in this way! All accumulations are impermanent and will be exhausted. What appears high is impermanent and will become low. All that flourishes is impermanent and will decline. All that gathers is impermanent and will separate. All that is good is impermanent and will become bad. All that lives is impermanent and will die. Contemplate these ways and relate your own body, possessions, and all appearances to impermanence. The Vinaya states: "The end of all accumulations is exhaustion, the end of all heights is falling, the end of birth is death, the end of gathering is separation." The Lalitavistara Sutra states: "All conditioned things are of the nature of decay, like summer bubbles, like sand on the riverbank, dependent on conditions, and very fragile." Therefore, it is a mistake to grasp at the truth of illusory appearances. Whatever appears, maintain the awareness that it is impermanent and without essence. The instruction to generate renunciation due to the impermanence of sentient beings with moving essence: All beings walking on this earth now will certainly be gone within a hundred years. Since all who are born die in succession, contemplate that your own life is passing and will die. Like this, the lifespan of Jambudvipa

Life is uncertain. Among them, now that fifty years have passed, life is even shorter. All sentient beings, such as humans and animals, that exist on this earth now, if they all die without exception within a hundred years, then we should abandon the mind that clings to a permanent self and diligently practice the sacred Dharma from the depths of our hearts. Furthermore, all sentient beings included in the three realms and six classes take bodies according to their own karma. Whether they are great or small, happy or suffering, virtuous or non-virtuous, prosperous or declining, high or low, all appearances of good and bad, even if they live for an eon, will eventually die. Even if they live for only a moment, they will eventually die. Even if they live for a medium amount of time, such as years, months, or days, they will eventually die. As it is said in the Nirvana Sutra: "All conditioned things are impermanent. Where there is birth, there is death. Where there is assembly, there is separation. Even if life lasts for countless years, it should be known that it will eventually end." Therefore, since all sentient beings are impermanent and changing, it is foolish to hope that I alone will be permanent. Thinking that death is certain, and having no trust in anything, cultivate the thought of non-attachment. In the All-Accomplishing Wisdom it says: "Since all conditioned things are impermanent, one should not be attached to anything, and one should diligently cultivate this thought." The following uses various examples to illustrate impermanence: In marketplaces, crossroads, inns, and other places, people from all directions gather and disperse. From the depths of your heart, contemplate that assembly will inevitably lead to separation. In places where many gather for buying and selling, at crossroads, and in inns, all the many people who gather there, although they may seem permanent for a while, quickly scatter in different directions like birds. Now, whether I, enemies, friends, or neutral sentient beings gather in one place, or see others gathering, think that everything is impermanent. With regard to one's own parents, relatives, benefactors, teachers, Dharma friends, and ordinary people, wherever you gather together, during the time you are together, do not fight with each other, do not harm each other, do not speak ill of each other, and do not scold or insult each other, so that you will not feel regret when you separate. Even when boarding the same boat, keep in mind the thought of separation, do not fight, and be happy. Let alone others, even oneself, the parents and spouses who have gathered in the same house in the early part of life
