It is like placing useless grass in front of a dog. Having entered the common vehicle, there is no escape from the lower realms due to the generation stage and broken precepts. Having entered the secret mantra vehicle, one breaks vows with the guru and fellow practitioners. These eight are far from the holy Dharma, like extinguishing the lamp of liberation. Regarding broken precepts, the *King of Samadhi* says: 'Due to the corruption of discipline, one will go to the lower realms. Even if one hears much, it cannot protect one.' Regarding broken vows, the *Doha* says: 'Alas, having been given the ground of the teachings, if one does not have vows, it is like a king capturing a person who should be punished. The iron hook of karma seizes the life force, and pouring boiling molten iron into the mouth is extremely difficult to endure.' Summary of meaning: Since we are not born in those places, we should rejoice and practice the holy Dharma. Thus, I am not born in the twenty-four states of no leisure, and relying on the holy guru, I can practice the profound Dharma. I should think like this and rejoice, and constantly strive in virtuous Dharma, passing the days and nights. The second reason for the difficulty of obtaining a human body is: Thus, if we see only the body of sentient beings, obtaining a human body is like obtaining a universal monarch. Among human bodies, those with faith who practice the Dharma are even rarer, like obtaining a Buddha. Therefore, one should always contemplate leisure and endowment. Thinking of sentient beings in general, they are as vast as the sky. The sentient beings of Jambudvipa are only like the space in the eye of a needle. Not to mention other sentient beings outside Jambudvipa. Compared to the sentient beings seen in a forest, a stream, or a puddle, obtaining a human body is as rare as obtaining a universal monarch. Thinking of humans, India, China, north and south, Mon, Nepal, Stone, Mongolia, and other places and markets, although many gather, those who enter the Buddha's teachings and follow the study with faith are rarer than the appearance of a Buddha in the world. One should observe this and generate joy in oneself, not wasting leisure and endowment. Thus, thinking of the remaining reasons also shows the difficulty of obtaining it. Like being born with incomplete faculties, in a border region, and having no connection to the Dharma.
