Without any limits or commitments, recognizing the state of great purity, equality, and self-purification, like the unborn realm of space. Vastly, all phenomena encompassed by appearance and existence, samsara and nirvana, the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, all originally abide within the great mandala of deities, thereby clarifying their manifestation. The outer appearances are the pure lands of the Buddhas, the Akaniṣṭha realm, and the Sukhāvatī pure land. Everything appears but is without inherent existence, like a great earth of blazing jewels, equal and naturally luminous. The arrangement of the peaceful and wrathful deity mandalas, with doors, stables, and so forth, is entirely complete. The five aggregates of the body and the five elements are clearly visualized as the essence of the five Buddha families, father and mother aspects, and the assembly of bodhisattvas, father and mother aspects, and gatekeepers. Thus, all forms are appearance-empty, all sounds are sound-empty, and all minds are awareness-empty, like the nature of illusion. The three inexhaustible wheels of adornment of body, speech, and mind are meditated upon. That is, from the aspect of clarity alone, it is the generation stage, and from the aspect of non-inherent existence and the purity of samādhi, it is the perfection stage, spontaneously accomplished, hence the union of generation and perfection stages. Meditating on the great truth of indivisible bliss, one engages in yoga with four sessions or a continuous stream-like sequence. All outer and inner appearances and the coming and going of the mind, good and bad, arise as the playful display of equality and completion, the king of methods. All desirable qualities are taken as the path by deities entering deities, or by offering worship to the deities. That is, recognizing the appearing object as the mother, and uniting food, clothing, and so forth, recognizing them as the father, this play is the deities merging into deities. As the Māyājāla says: Forms, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, and so forth, are enjoyed by knowing the ripened result as the mother. One does not enjoy them with ordinary appearances. If one clings to desirable qualities as they are, then the five poisons arise in one's own stream of being, therefore one should not become a practitioner of the secret mantra path. It is extremely important not to stray from the generation and perfection stages. The Secret Accomplishment says: Abandoning the ordinary body, with a mind possessing divine pride, abiding in supreme samādhi, then there is no doubt that it will be accomplished. And as the Root Downfall says: With the desire for Buddhahood and enlightenment, hatred that severs the root should not be cultivated even for an instant. If the mind is disturbed, there is no path to liberation. And, its

Furthermore, it says: "Because of accumulating merit for many eons, nectar drips into the precious vessel. If you do not constantly exert effort, why are you intoxicated by the poison of desire?" Thus it is said. Moreover, by meditating on all phenomena as the appearance of deities and mandalas, like a dream, the conceptual thoughts that grasp at external objects and the darkness that obscures the mandala's own place are cleared away, and one also transcends the clinging to extremes of existence and non-existence. Furthermore, if one asks, "Is meditating on the mandala not elaboration?" Although it is elaboration, it is a method for pacifying all bad elaborations into the sphere of reality, so there is no fault. The Two Examinations say: "The yogi of the generation stage meditates on the elaborations of asceticism. If elaborations are meditated on as a dream, then elaboration itself makes non-elaboration." Thus it is said. Some here say: "There is no recitation of mantras, no asceticism, and no fire offering. There is no mandala, and there is no mandala." "That is the recitation of mantras, that is asceticism and fire offering. That is the mandala and the great mandala itself." As it is said in the Hevajra, holding that nothing exists in ultimate truth is a nihilistic view and is to slander the secret mantra. That passage is for great yogis who have realized phenomenal existence as a mandala and whose afflictions have been self-liberated, who do not need artificial, compounded asceticism, etc., because pure thought is co-emergent wisdom. If fire offerings, etc., are taught as a means to accomplish that, then once that is accomplished, there is no need for ordinary causes, just as there is no need to carry a boat after crossing the river. That is what they think. In the nature of the unelaborated nature of the mandala of the basis of luminosity, deities and mantras abide naturally like the sun and light. The Two Examinations say: "In the nature of non-elaboration, deities and mantras truly abide." Thus it is said. If one strives in yoga in this way, then all the unsurpassable tantra classes agree that one will attain Vajradhara in this very life or in the bardo. Such a great and unsurpassed yoga, if divided, then among the non-dual tantras of father and mother, that which emphasizes the generation stage, skillful means, winds, and completion stage is the unsurpassable father tantra yoga. The generation stage and completion stage emphasize winds and
