Moreover, it is not permissible to have the perception of "I." Because continuous obstruction obstructs annihilation; because it obstructs going to past and future lives, as well as east and west, etc.; and because it obstructs consciousness. For the supreme Dharma practitioners and the virtuous path followers, not relying on arising and ceasing, and the statement of "cessation," in reality, arising and ceasing are not established; conventionally, it is impossible for each thing not to rely on arising and ceasing; it is also impossible to become other things. All of these are negated at once, suffering and so on are gradually recognized conventionally, and because momentariness and change are obstructed. Now, stating the common nature: The path of the Hearers includes abiding in discipline, listening, and contemplating. The Dharma of the Shramanas, etc., the path and liberation, etc., because they are common and consistent, are the truths that should be negated. In the Treasury of Knowledge, it says: Those who possess abiding in discipline, listening, and contemplation should diligently practice meditation. According to this method, first, having renounced at the entrance shown, abiding in discipline, not retaliating when scolded, not being angry when angered, not striking back when struck, not revealing shortcomings when shortcomings are revealed, these are the four Dharmas of the Shramanas. Abiding in the twelve qualities of cultivation, such as begging for alms, and in order to know the objects of acceptance and rejection for the aggregates, elements, sources, dependent origination, path and non-path, etc., one should listen and contemplate. In gatherings and combinations, etc., practicing the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, thereby accomplishing liberation. Knowing the measure of food, striving in yoga without sleeping at night and dawn, practicing the impurity meditation as an antidote to desire, etc., meditating on breathing in and out, etc., and the signs of renunciation—Dharma robes, begging bowl, staff, having few desires, being content, etc., as well as the four truths, dependent origination meditation, etc., because they acknowledge the consistency of the vehicle, they are not to be negated, because they are actually what should be pursued. However, if there is a true attachment to these, thinking they are pure liberation, then it is not just negating the view as an object of refutation. As Shantideva said: Here, it is not negating appearance itself, but rather eliminating the clinging to reality, which becomes the cause of suffering. As it is said. The twelve qualities of cultivation are from the Sutra Samuccaya: Homage.

Those who dwell in charnel grounds and wear only one skirt, those who later do not accept offerings and wear felt clothes, those who have three Dharma robes and live under trees, those who use only one mat and abide accordingly, those who are in charnel grounds without cover, those who live in monasteries and those who beg for alms, the Sage with a peaceful mind, taught these twelve practices of asceticism. Thus it is. Others have been taught before and will be taught later as well. Now, the tenets that all schools commonly desire and unanimously acknowledge are thoroughly classified: Tenets can be divided into two types: common and individual sequences. There are seven types of common desires, which should be well understood here by refuting the inferior ones. Among the seven desires commonly acknowledged by the Hearers, and the detailed explanation of their respective natures, there are two. The first has seven: the object, the four truths; the agent, the ultimate truth; Arhat is the ultimate; there is no ālaya-vijñāna; there is no Mahāyāna; there are no ten bhūmis; the Buddha is independent. The first is: suffering, origin, cessation, path, these four truths themselves are the objects of what should be taken and abandoned. The first, suffering, is the aggregate of the fruit, that is, the birth of sentient beings and the place of birth. Birth refers to the cycle of the six realms of beings from one to another. The place refers to the external container world, as mentioned before. Therefore, there are many kinds of suffering, such as birth and so on. Origin is the part of the cause of suffering, that is, the two, karma and afflictions. Afflictions refer to desire and so on. Karma refers to the two, thought and intention, that is, the three, virtuous, non-virtuous, and unspecified. Among them, thought is of body and speech, and intention is of mind. Thus it is. Non-virtuous refers to the ten such as killing, the five inexpiable sins such as killing parents, the five near sins such as killing bodhisattvas, and breaking vows and so on. Virtuous refers to the ten such as refraining from killing and others as well. Unspecified refers to crafts and so on. Cessation is the complete pacification of suffering and its causes, that is, nirvāṇa with remainder and nirvāṇa without remainder, and cessation with discrimination and cessation without discrimination. Path is to know suffering, abandon origin, realize cessation, path in the continuum
