Although it is also explained in the *Ratnakuta Sutra*, it is different because, like the ninth ground, since the five consciousnesses have not undergone transformation, impure appearances are also seen. Furthermore, the beginning of the excellent ten powers begins from the eighth ground. It is quoted in the commentary on *Tarkajvala*: "When Dipamkara gave me, the prediction, at that moment, the eighth ground was attained, and the ten powers were also attained." The first of the ten powers, power over life, is to be able to remain for as many kalpas as one wishes. Power over mind is to be able to enter and arise from countless samadhis with each moment. Power over resources is to be able to fill the world with various foods and wealth simply by thinking. Power over actions is to be able to act as one wishes in all places of crafts and activities. Power over birth is to be able to be born as one wishes, such as gods and humans. Power over aspiration is to be able to transform all ground into various jewels, etc., to transform all things as one wishes, so that sentient beings can see and use them. Power over aspiration is to be able to accomplish everything as one wishes, such as filling all worlds with Buddhas. Power over miraculous powers is to be able to manifest as one wishes, such as holding countless buddhafields in the sky with a single hair tip. Power over wisdom is to know whatever one wishes to know. Power over dharma is to be skilled in the establishment of the names and words of all dharmas. In general, merely attaining the ten powers exists from the impure seven grounds. The excellent ten powers exist from the pure three grounds. The extremely pure ten powers exist in the Buddha ground. Thus, in these progressions of the ten grounds, there are twenty-one knots in the central channel. By untying two knots each, one attains each of the ten grounds. By untying the last knot, one accomplishes the supreme ground of the crown of the head. By untying the first two knots of the three channels, one attains from the first ground to the tenth ground, and by untying the last knot, one accomplishes the supreme ground of the crown of the head, Vajradhara. In the *Definitive Utterance Peak* it says: "Roma and Kyangma all tremble, knots are the delusion of samsara, liberation is the wisdom of nirvana." Thus, in the process of gradually attaining these grounds, when one reaches the realization of the higher ground, until Buddhahood

For those, these qualities are like the sun and its rays. Just as when the sun rises, its rays appear simultaneously, so too, if one attains realization of the paths and grounds, then its qualities of abandonment and realization, such as the Buddha's eye and clairvoyance, will appear without deception; this is the nature of reality. Now, refuting other kinds of wrong views: Some say that the qualities of the paths and grounds are provisional meanings. Some say that even if one attains realization, there are no qualities. To assert both existence and non-existence is a mind of delusion. Clinging to and fixating on one's own view, and thus slandering the unerring Dharma, should be abandoned. Because one has not encountered the true Dharma and the qualified spiritual friends who teach it, and because there is no light of hearing and thinking, relying only on the Dharma and teachers of fools, and being confident in the mere fact that one has not accomplished anything, some people cling to the view of emptiness, taking the present awareness as an illusion of the mind and carrying it as the path. They say that the qualities of the paths and grounds of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are provisional meanings to entice children, and in reality, they do not exist. Others say that even if one attains the realization of the four yogas, which are equal from the first to the tenth ground, like a continuous stream of non-meditation, the qualities spoken of in the paths and grounds have both existence and non-existence. This is like saying that there is no sun in the world, or that even if there is a sun, there are two kinds of sun, one with light and one without light. Merely stating these views, if one has discernment, one will understand, so there is no need to argue. As it says in the Pramāṇaviniścaya: "Because the paths of error are endless, there is no need to elaborate on them here." Such a view is because of clinging to evil views, and thus slandering the sacred Dharma. If one hears the true Dharma that is contrary to this, one will angrily generate wrong views, views of extremism, and views of the aggregates, burning the seeds of virtue with the fire of attachment and aversion, and thus wandering in the lower realms for a long time. As it says in the Four Hundred Verses: "If one is attached to one's own side and dislikes the side of others, one will not attain Nirvana, and dualistic behavior will not be pacified." Regarding nature, merely examine what is correct and incorrect, and then accept or reject, but do not generate attachment to what is correct or hatred to what is incorrect, because hatred causes sin to increase.
