Performing actions on the ground, spreading cushions on seats, attending to where one goes, sweeping the path, making one's own clothes or silks, etc., greeting and escorting with incense, inquiring about well-being, sweeping near the sleeping quarters, offering mandalas, offering horses and mules, etc., as mounts to greet and escort, prostrating to the lama and requesting blessings, rising and joining palms, etc., should be done. Similar to how one treats the lama, if the lama has a consort, she should also be respected, attended to closely, and those cherished by the lama should be treated similarly, because it is taught: "The lama's beloved is like the lama." Even if one naturally pleases the lama, if one annoys those nearby, it will create discord, and ultimately may displease the lama, so one should also be grateful and win people's hearts. In short, all disciples should do the lama's work, and if someone takes on the burden, because they have taken it on, we others do not need to do it, so we should also be grateful and win people's hearts. Furthermore, just as the king's attendants need to be served by everyone, the lama's attendants, etc., should also be respected without disturbing their minds. In addition, before doing anything, one should report to the lama and then do it. This will indicate the good aspects and prevent all the bad aspects. Especially when teaching the Dharma and giving empowerments, one should also report and do it only after receiving permission. If one says that permission is not given, it is possible, because it is the work of demons to prevent doing what is appropriate for benefiting others, so it should be prevented. One's own pillow should also be pointed towards the direction where the lama is, and when eating any food, one should remember the lama and offer the essence of the food, and when doing anything, one should think, "Is this the lama's teaching?" and then strive to accomplish things with wisdom. In short, one should always maintain a longing service to the lama. If these meanings are explained in conjunction with scriptures, in the samadhi where the Buddha is actually present now, it says: "Bodhisattvas should go to the presence of the Dharma speaker, and with the perception of the teacher as the Buddha, do all the services and follow him. Even just for the sake of hearing the Dharma, one must follow him for as long as one lives."

Not to mention listening, writing, and meditating, At all times, one should abandon self-cherishing and act according to the mind of the virtuous friend. As it is said in the Avatamsaka Sutra: The merchant's son, Norzang, developed faith in the great Bodhi and engaged in diligent practice. He praised the virtuous friend, the noble Manjushri, as he followed him. Manjushri taught: Associating with the guru and serving him is the foundation for accomplishing great Bodhi. Therefore, do not be weary of relying on and associating with him. Furthermore, as it is said in the Supreme Samaya Tantra: With the strength of body, speech, and mind, To the guru, with whatever one can, Whoever serves with reverence and respect, For them, a collection of power and ability, Blessings will arise unhindered. As it is said, one should be careful in conduct and strive to please the guru with respect. To please the guru by abandoning conflicting behaviors that should be abandoned, because they are not in accordance with the rules. The disrespectful and unrestrained behaviors to be abandoned are: Looking with a frown, scowling, clapping hands; Showing the back, sitting sideways, stretching legs; Lying down, leaning against each other, fighting, playing, flirting. Because one does not know how to respect the guru, when associating with a noble person, various behaviors arise because the youthful and unrestrained behaviors have not been pacified. Whether it is during listening to the Dharma or at other times, such as: Hating, arguing, looking with wide eyes while observing with conceptual thoughts, looking at the guru with wide eyes as if not repaying past debts, not knowing how to restrain oneself; Clapping hands or making snapping sounds in front of the guru; Showing the back to the guru; Sitting sideways; Sitting with legs stretched out; Lying down; Leaning the body and sitting like a plowshare; Fighting with each other; Even in jest or play, wrestling or hitting from above, or hitting with palms or other things; Making strange noises due to unrestrained laughter; Flirting with clothes and other things; Furthermore, Spitting and blowing the nose, casting a shadow on the guru, Leaving without permission and walking in front of the guru, stepping on the guru's footprints, Wearing the guru's shoes, sitting on the guru's cushion, riding the guru's mount, using the guru's belongings, Measuring the guru with one's own body, not wearing the guru's clothes, not sitting on the guru's seat, casting a shadow on the guru. One should abandon these faults of disrespect and ignorance of etiquette. The room where the guru resides and
