Since those actions have not been accumulated, they do not exist. When the higher comes to the lower, how does it come? When Brahma and others come to Jambudvipa, they come by relying on the lower place, by means of emanation. Like this, by the emanation of equal mind, the lower places such as Jambudvipa, the higher ones like Brahma and others come by means of emanation. Because the appearances of sentient beings' minds are different, the people of the lower places, because they are formed from the aggregation of wind and mind deluded by that appearance. The people of the higher places are also not seen by the lower ones, because the appearances are different due to the aggregation of dissimilar wind and mind. As it is said: Things are one, but minds are different. This is what is taught. Especially when the gods of the form realm, such as Brahma and others, come to Jambudvipa, their bodies do not move from that place, but they come by relying on emanation, relying on the aspect of the equality of mind previously obtained. Others, down to Paranirmita-vasavartin, come with their actual bodies because the places of the desire realm are the same. The people of the four continents have the appearance of day and night. The gods of the desire realm know by the opening and closing of the lotus. The unpleasant sound is born from the three roots after death. Others are uncertain, and are diverse due to karma. There is the appearance of day and night in the four continents. When it is midnight in the north, the sun sets in the east, the sun is half in the south, and the sun rises in the west. These rotate in the four continents. As it is said in the Abhidharmakosa: Midnight, the sun sets, the sun is half, and the time of rising is one. This is what is said. If there is spring in Videha, there is summer in Jambudvipa, there is autumn in Godaniya, and there is winter in Kurava. In Jambudvipa, when the summer sun turns back north, when the sun is long, in the north, when the winter sun goes south and is short, the night is long, when spring is equal in Videha, and autumn is equal in the west, in this order, the four continents have four seasons, and the sun's length, south and north, rotates. Moreover, the sun travels north and south for six months each, and the moon travels up and down. Just as the sun and moon travel, all the planets and stars also travel in the four continents. What is calculated today is the two, the sun and the moon, the seven or eight planets, and the twenty-eight constellations, and when the date and month, and which part of the sun's house goes to, the auspicious and inauspicious encounters and results.

Because it only counts sons, and other constellations do not have those, they are not counted. Since there are no sun and moon above Holding-the-Yoke (Gnya'shing 'dzin), how are day and night arranged for the higher desire gods? There, the opening and closing of flowers, the sounds and silences of birds, the desire to sleep and awaken, are all accomplished through the light of their own bodies. People with unpleasant voices, because they have accumulated the karma to be reborn in the Thirty-Three Heavens (Lha sum cu rtsa gsum), are reborn there immediately after death. But other beings such as gods and humans, because of their diverse kinds, are not certain where they will be reborn. The previously mentioned order of the Dharma, and the just-explained Dharma of distinctions, if these are summarized, are actually only three: completely distinguishing from form, time, and name. Like this, the limit of form is the ultimate atom, the limit of time is the moment, the limit of name is the three syllables; these worldly principles are summarized and shown. Then, the first aspect: the limit of form is the ultimate atom, that dust grows sevenfold. Ultimate atom, atom, iron, water, rabbit, sheep, ox, sunlight, louse, barleycorn, finger joint. Seven ultimate atoms are one atom. Seven atoms are one iron dust. Seven iron dusts are one water dust. Seven water dusts are one rabbit dust. Seven rabbit dusts are one sheep dust. Seven sheep dusts are one ox dust. Seven ox dusts are one sunlight dust. Seven sunlight dusts are one louse. Seven lice are one barleycorn. Seven barleycorns are one joint of the middle finger. Twenty-four finger joints are one cubit. Four cubits are one bow, five hundred bows are one krosa, which is considered the measure of a monastery. Eight krosas are one yojana. Twenty-four finger joints are one cubit. Four cubits are one bow, which is one fathom. Five hundred bows are one krosa, a place so far from a village is called a monastery. A half krosa closer than that is called the boundary. Eight krosas are one yojana, which is four thousand bows. Therefore, all places and body sizes, such as the King of Mountains, are measured. Second aspect: the limit of time is the moment, which is one hundred and twenty parts of one sixty-fourth of a cymbal strike. Sixty moments are one thang (thang cig), thirty thang are one yud (yud tsam), thirty yud are one day and night.
