A concise summary of the subject matter: 180 nails, 2,500 small nails, 3,000 essential points gathered, 400,000 obscurations, 20,000 named lineages, the order of words and phrases clearly explained. Thus it is said. Dedication of merit to enlightenment: By this merit, may all beings, without effort, reach the primordial ground, in the state of Samantabhadra, without change, may the two benefits be spontaneously accomplished, and may they become Dharma Kings. By the great accumulation of merit arising from the well-composed and wonderful Dharma, may all beings, without any effort or exertion, attain manifest enlightenment, and in the state inseparable from Samantabhadra, in the oneness of the Dharmakaya, may the Victorious Ones who spontaneously accomplish the two benefits, become Dharma Kings, attaining the state of the Bhagavan Buddha. May all be auspicious, dedicating for the increase of great happiness and well-being: In all directions, may there be happiness and prosperity, like pure lands, may all desires be spontaneously fulfilled, may the Dharma drum be sounded, and may the victory banner of liberation be erected. May the sacred Dharma not decline, and may the teachings flourish. By the light of a hundred well-accumulated merits, radiating splendor in all places of earth and the heavens, may all sentient beings be filled with happiness, without suffering even in dreams, and with the wonderful joy of the Dharma of liberation, may they be auspicious day and night. Like the beings in the pure Buddhafields such as Sukhavati, Abhirati, and Padmavati, may they enjoy the spontaneously accomplished abundance of all desires. May the sound of the Three Jewels be proclaimed everywhere without interruption, and may the supreme teachings, like the wish-fulfilling tree of the gods and the jewel banner, be erected. May the sacred Dharma flourish and spread in all directions, in the boundless and limitless realms, to the ends of space. Thus, it is shown to conclude with auspicious praise. Synonyms for the name of perfection: Called the Dharmadhatu Treasure, which means that the nature of mind is naturally luminous.

The sphere of Dharma is free from all extremes of elaboration. Because it is spontaneously perfect, it is like a precious jewel. Because it is the place where all the dharmas of samsara and nirvana arise, it is called a "treasure." The meaning expressed in this treatise is perfectly complete, being the nature of the ground, path, and fruit. The way in which its location is clearly shown, the nature of the thirteen chapters, is a collection of profound and vast scriptures. It is the sphere from which many aspects of words and meanings arise. The good fortune of words and meanings is spontaneously accomplished, like a jewel, because it is the basis for accomplishing the two purposes that are manifestly desired. Because it is the place where the collection of names, words, and letters arises, it is appropriately expressed by the term "treasure." Because the profound and vast sphere of Dharma is the nature of the ground, path, and fruit, it is a treasure from which well-arranged jewels arise. Therefore, it is also called the Treasure of the Dharmadhatu Jewel. Because the expressing scripture is perfectly complete, and the meaning to be expressed is perfectly complete, the two are the perfectly complete nature of this treatise. The name "Yogi of the Supreme Vehicle" means that the Vajra Vehicle of the fruit is the pinnacle of all vehicles, and its essence and pinnacle is the Great Perfection of Naturalness. Among these, the place of the radiant Vajra Essence is supreme, so it is called the Supreme Vehicle. To understand its meaning well and practice it is to practice the Yoga of Meaning. To understand well the place of words and meanings and to practice composing treatises is to practice the Yoga of Words. This is what is called the Yogi of the Continuum of Dharma. The name "Longchen Rabjam" is the name of the author. In the vast expanse of Longchenpo, where realization is as vast as the sky, the wheel of awareness and dharmata, free from sinking and elation, hope and fear, is vast and pervasive day and night, so it is called Longchen Rabjam. This name is a close indication of the meaning expressed in this treatise. The various differences in names that appear in the treatises composed by me are also to closely indicate their meaning, poetry and
