Like emptiness, there is duality. The determined result is something determined between cause and effect by something else, which is like the ultimate result obtained through measurement and acceptance. That is also the characteristic of the result. Here, measurement and the three results are established from the perspective of other-awareness and self-awareness recognizing their own objects, and there is no third possibility other than these. The Prasangika Madhyamaka school, in order to cater to the minds of worldly people who are not skilled in reasoning and only seek pleasure, merely establishes a philosophical system in name only. Because they have a thorough understanding of the various aspects of samsara and nirvana, it is sufficient to have only non-deceptive general standards of measurement. For example, the conceptualization of realizing that sound is impermanent, although it has elements of illusion in terms of its appearance, such as true appearance, general characteristics, and meaningful appearance, it can still be a valid measure in terms of the certainty of impermanence and the way it appears to oneself. The Svatantrika school and below mainly understand 'direct perception' as the consciousness that apprehends the object, making it manifest, and the object is merely posited as a prior entity. Therefore, according to that system, they consider the object to be the object-possessor, the actual direct perception, the object of direct perception, and the imputed direct perception. However, the Prasangika Madhyamaka school considers 'direct perception' to be the clear and manifest appearance of phenomena in conventional terms. Therefore, from the perspective of appearance, the object is the actual object of direct perception, and the consciousness that makes it manifest is posited as direct perception from the perspective of the object, which is the imputed direct perception. Therefore, the views of the lower schools and the Prasangika school are different. According to the Prasangika Madhyamaka school, if it is a consciousness with dualistic appearance, then when it grasps its object, there will inevitably be a corresponding appearance. This appearance is called 'appearance'. Therefore, that aspect of appearance is very clear to the mind itself as direct perception. From the perspective of being exactly as it is, one's own appearance can be a valid direct perception. Since that appearance itself is never deceptive, from that perspective, all minds with dualistic appearance are valid direct perceptions for their own appearances, and there may be various degrees of correctness or incorrectness in the way they grasp. According to the Prasangika Madhyamaka school, for example, the dominant condition of the mental direct perception, such as the ascertainment led by the visual consciousness that apprehends form, is that visual consciousness prior to that ascertainment. Similarly, the very clear appearances of mental happiness and suffering, as well as the appearance of 'I' according to the Svatantrika school, and the appearance of 'I' as having various characteristics, are all established as direct perception in this system. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It belongs to the manifestation of inner consciousness. The statement established from the perspective of actually applying the three aspects of sign, dharma, and meaning to others with the intention of fulfilling one's own commitment is a sign application. For example, 'Sound, the subject, is impermanent, because it is produced.' The statement established from the perspective of actually applying a consequence that the other party does not want to accept is a consequence. For example, 'Sound, the subject, should be uncreated, because it is permanent.' According to the consequentialist system, for sharp-witted opponents, only consequences are needed to generate understanding, while for dull-witted ones, both consequences and sign applications are necessary. According to the consequentialist system, the sign must not be confused with the object to be proven, and it must also possess the three aspects of mere appearance. For example, the valid cognition of a pot, such as the act of holding a pot, the object of the act being the pot, and the agent of the pot-holding, all three must be unerring in their appearance. When the consciousness of holding a pot holds the pot, because there is a dual appearance of object and subject, the pot exists as the object, and oneself exists as the subject. From the perspective of the pot-holding consciousness itself, understanding through the appearance of object and subject as distinct, the consciousness understands itself. Furthermore, the subsequent cognition led by that consciousness should also understand the previous object and subject as they were experienced. Generally, there are two aspects: the aspect of the consciousness understanding the object, and the aspect of the consciousness that understands it. There are two aspects: the aspect of the consciousness directly understanding the object, and the aspect of the one who directly understands it. There are two aspects: the aspect of the consciousness indirectly understanding the object, and the aspect of the one who indirectly understands it. Each of these three can be divided into two aspects: the name and the named. When the valid cognition of pot-holding understands the pot, the imputation that the pot is not a pot (object), and the imputation of the subject holding the pot as not a pot, these two are directly severed. When the valid cognition indirectly understands that the pot is not not a pot, the imputation of not not a pot (object), and the imputation of the subject holding not not a pot, these two are indirectly severed. That is the explanation. Both the appearing object and the apprehended object of the pot-holding eye consciousness are the pot. In general, a consciousness that directly realizes selflessness can directly realize the selflessness of a pot, and indirectly realize the selflessness of other things like pillars, etc. It can realize multiple objects of negation, but such a consciousness can indirectly realize affirmations like a pot, and non- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ་
