Emanations such as raised figures molded from earth; and deities such as Chakravartin (the wheel-turning monarch, possessing the wheel of dominion over the world); and rebirths that emanate as ships, bridges, and so forth—these are the four types of emanation bodies. Second, explaining the dependent wisdom, there are two aspects: first, identifying the nature of wisdom; second, how wisdom knows the knowable. First, there are two types: identifying self-arisen wisdom and identifying other-arisen wisdom. First, there are two aspects: definition and classification. The first is the definition: the nature that is non-dual with Dharmadhatu (the nature of all phenomena), possessing the qualities of abandonment and realization, the unchanging Parinispanna (the ultimate truth, the ultimate reality) that is inherently present, this is the definition of self-arisen wisdom. Second, classifying from the perspective of negation, there are five types: Dharmadhatujnana (wisdom of the Dharmadhatu), Adarsajnana (mirror-like wisdom), Samatajnana (wisdom of equality), Pratyaveksanajnana (discriminating wisdom), and Krtyanusthanajnana (accomplishing wisdom). Second, regarding other-arisen wisdom, there are two aspects: definition and classification. The first is the definition: the true wisdom of the Buddha-ground, which, through the power of the path of meditation, transforms the seeds of the eight consciousnesses (Alaya-vijñana, store consciousness) into the non-erroneous Parinispanna of mundane form bodies and conditioned wisdom, this is the definition of other-arisen wisdom. Second, there are four types of classification, only their definitions are explained, as stated in the Mahayanasutralamkara: the characteristic of the essence is that it possesses five qualities, the characteristic of the companion is that it possesses the other three wisdoms, and the characteristic of the function is that it serves as the basis for the appearance of form bodies, etc., that is, the wisdom that possesses three characteristics, this is the definition of the mirror-like wisdom. The five qualities are: it does not belong to the category of the incompatible, the object is not interrupted, the time is not interrupted, the focus is not interrupted, and the appearance is not interrupted. The characteristic of the essence is that it does not abide at the extremes of samsara and nirvana, but comprehends that all is equality, the companion is love, etc., and the function is to actually show the appearance of form bodies according to the inclinations of the beings to be tamed, this is the definition of the wisdom of equality. The 'etc.' in 'love, etc.' here includes great compassion. The characteristic of the essence is that there is no obstruction to all dharmas and that it is skilled in teaching the Dharma, the characteristic of the companion is that it is equally endowed with limitless samadhi (meditation) and dharani (mnemonic devices), and the characteristic of the function is that it shows various forms of bodies within the retinue, thereby being the fundamental cause for turning the wheel of Dharma, this is the definition of discriminating wisdom. The characteristic of the essence is the wisdom that emanates countless emanations and accomplishes various benefits for sentient beings, the characteristic of the companion is --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This wisdom possesses special samadhi etc., and the specialty of its activities lies in the fact that, for the sake of those to be tamed, what it does is inconceivable. This is the characteristic of the wisdom of accomplishing activities. From these 'etc.' one can extract the doors of dharani. The other four 'born' refer to conventional truth in the two truths, the truth of the path in the four truths, non-perversion in the two completely established natures, and correct wisdom in the five dharmas. And the five 'self-born' refer to ultimate truth in the two truths, the truth of cessation in the four truths, immutability in the two completely established natures, and being considered as suchness in the five dharmas, which is the unique view of one's own system. The causes of the four newly arising wisdoms are: previously holding onto the meaning of dharma on the path of learning, practicing self-other equality, teaching the dharma, and being a helpful companion in benefiting others. The alaya consciousness transforms into the mirror-like wisdom, the afflicted mind transforms into the wisdom of equality, the consciousness transforms into the discriminating wisdom, and the five sense consciousnesses transform into the wisdom of accomplishing activities. Furthermore, the mirror-like wisdom is the dharmakaya, the wisdom of equality and the discriminating wisdom are the sambhogakaya, and the wisdom of accomplishing activities possesses the nature of the nirmanakaya. Second, regarding how he knows knowable things. It is divided into two views: one's own system and others' systems. First, one's own system believes that although all conventional deluded appearances do not appear in the Buddha's wisdom, it is still possible to understand all things, as briefly stated above. The second view is divided into two: one is like Omniscient Butön and the father and son Tsongkhapa, who believe that all non-deluded dharmas appear in the Buddha's wisdom; the other is like the Tibetan scholar Rongzom Chökyi Zangpo, who believes that the Buddha has no wisdom. Third, explaining the classification of activities, divided into the nature of activities, continuously showing activities, and determining activities through metaphors. First, the pure qualities arising from the dharmakaya as the co-emergent condition are the characteristics of the Buddha's activities. For example, the activity of turning the wheel of dharma is an example. Second, divided into continuously showing and naturally accomplishing. First, in terms of natural accomplishment, there are two ways of showing the natural accomplishment of body and speech activities. The first is, as stated in the Ornament of Sutras: 'Just as a jewel effortlessly, naturally shows its light, so too, the Buddhas without effort, constantly show their activities.' The second is, as stated in the same text: 'Just as the sound of a drum without being struck, naturally emits its sound,' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ུང་བ་ལྟར།
