Because of having wisdom, the number of vehicles is also the same. If summarized, there are two types, large and small. Thus it is said. Also, distinguishing by large, medium, and small, there are three: Hearer, Solitary Realizer, and Great Vehicle. As it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: Through the effort and accumulation, thought and exposition, and the excellent distinctions of accomplishment, it is considered that there are three types of vehicles. Thus it is said. Also, in the Tantra of the Secret Bindu Jewel, it is said that there are also three in terms of outer and inner order: the three vehicles of outer, inner, and secret. The sacred Dharma is also excellently proclaimed. Thus it is said. Furthermore, it is also said that there are three vehicles of cause and four with the result. In the Net of Magical Manifestation of Manjushri, it is said: From the definite arising of the three vehicles, it abides in the result of one vehicle. Thus it is said. Also, in the Eight Thousand Verses, it is said: This inconceivable teaching, although it has eighty-four thousand names, from the door of the vehicle, three are proclaimed. When gathered into the secret essence vehicle, there are four. Thus it is said. Furthermore, it is said that there are five ways to gather the categories. As it is said in the Old Secret Tantra: From the definite arising of the four vehicles, it abides in the result of one vehicle. Thus it is said. Also, in the Lankavatara Sutra, it is said: The vehicle of gods and the vehicle of Brahma, likewise the Hearer vehicle, and likewise the Tathagata and Solitary Conqueror vehicles, these different vehicles are taught. Thus it is said. Furthermore, there are also six when distinguishing above and below by illusion. As it is said in the All-Creating King: The six vehicles that are definitely attained. Thus it is said. It is also said that there are seven. As it is said in the Mandala Collection: Gods and humans and Hearers, Solitary Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, outer secret and inner secret, thus seven vehicles are taught. Thus it is said. It is also said that there are eight. As it is said in the Great Sky: Thus, beyond the eight vehicles. Thus it is said. It is also said that there are nine. As it is said in the All-Creating King: Coming into being is coming into being as nine vehicles. Thus it is said. Furthermore, the two vehicles of gods and humans that remain as they are, the five groups of outsiders, the nine stages of insiders, plus the Clear Light Vajra Essence Vehicle, it is also said that there are sixteen. As it is said in the Tantra of the Essence Sun Illuminating: The first sixteen lords of the vehicle. Thus it is said. Furthermore, it is said to be inconceivable. As it is said in the Lankavatara Sutra: As long as the mind enters, there is no end to the vehicle. Furthermore, it is said that the term vehicle is merely a designation for the state of being, but it is not established in reality. As it is said in the same text: When the mind transforms, there is no vehicle and no goer. Thus it is said. In short, all

For yogis who perceive only from the level of mind, and whose minds are pure in their very nature, the so-called "vehicle" is like the sky, fundamentally non-existent; this should be understood. Secondly, distinguishing by differences, there are two: the manner of being superior and the explanation of mantra itself. The first is: successively, the vehicle of hearers, the vehicle of self-realized ones, the vehicle of Buddhas, and the Great Vehicle, the latter being superior to the former. The Ornament of the Sutras states: "The wealth of the hearers overwhelms the worldly. The wealth of the self-realized ones overwhelms even the hearers. With that, even the rain of wealth of the Bodhisattvas cannot be matched. With that, even the rain of wealth of the Thus-Gone Ones cannot be matched." Etc. Although there are many kinds of superior differences of the Great Vehicle, they are condensed into seven. The Ornament of the Sutras states: "The aim is great, and likewise, the two practices, wisdom, diligence, and effort, being skilled in means, the great authentic practice, and the great activity of the Buddhas; because it possesses the seven great ones, it is definitely called the Great Vehicle." Thus it is. Among these, the Vehicle of Secret Mantra Fruit is even more superior. The Lamp for the Three Modes states: "Although the meaning is one, there is no bewilderment, because there are many methods and no difficulties, and because it relies on sharp faculties, the Vehicle of Mantra is particularly superior." And in the King of Sutras, Instructions, and Empowerments, Manjushri asks the Teacher: "The three vehicles of guidance, the Blessed One, you have certainly spoken of, acting spontaneously in cause and effect, and not seeking the Buddha from elsewhere, why have you not spoken of the definitive vehicle?" In response, the Teacher said: "Having turned the wheel of the Dharma of cause, which is faith in the cause, the near path of the Vajra Vehicle will arise in the future." Thus, mantra is the ultimate vehicle of definitive meaning, making the fruit into the path, and the Buddha existing within oneself. These two quotes contradict the statement in the Three Vows Well Distinguished: "From the non-elaboration of going beyond the shore, if there is a superior view, then that view will become elaborate." Because the "non-bewilderment" and "sharp faculties" of the previous quote refer to the view of mantra entering wisdom in the sutras, which is its very distinction, and the quote
