The ground is the deluded mind. In reality, various appearances arise. Seeing external things is a mistake. Thus it is said. In the Avatamsaka Sutra, it is said: "Oh, sons of the Victorious Ones, these three realms are only mind." Some people misunderstand this scripture and think that all containers and contents are their own mind, but this is not the meaning of this scripture. This scripture says that the appearance of external objects is only the appearance in one's own mind, and nothing else is established. The three realms are also only the appearance of individual appearances, and the appearance of the mind is the same, but nothing else is established. The necessity is to prevent some Shravakas from thinking that external objects, such as matter, are truly self-characterized. If everything is one's own mind, then if one is deluded, everyone is deluded, and if one is liberated, everyone is liberated. Sentient beings are one mindstream, and it is impossible to have only males or females. Just as one's own mind knows and measures external objects, external objects will also measure the mind, etc., as described like a great chariot. Therefore, here it is said that all the white and red appearances of external objects are only appearances in the mind. Apart from the mind, there is no other real matter, etc. Therefore, it is taught like a dream that appears without being real. In short, all the deluded appearances of the mind are called false conceptualizations and illusions. In the Expanded Illusion Sutra, it is said: "All the appearances of various minds are called false conceptualizations and illusions." Thus it is said. In this way, when delusion appears, a close example of no self-nature is given: Just as a person intoxicated by Dhatura flowers sees various appearances, but in reality they are all delusions. Similarly, the delusion that arises from the sleep of ignorance, the delusion that appears in the minds of the six realms of beings, know that today there is no truth. Some people think that the appearances that arise after eating Dhatura flowers are also considered false by worldly people. Similarly, the deluded appearances of samsara also arise only from the sleep of ignorance. In reality, there is no truth, only the appearance has not stopped. The wise should know this. In the Arya Samadhi Raja Sutra, it is said: "Just as in the dream of a young girl, a boy is born and she sees him die, she is happy when he is born and unhappy when he dies, all dharmas should be known in the same way." Thus it is said. The Sutra Requested by the Boy Rab Snang.

Action. Whenever all kinds of phenomena, by their very nature, are unborn, like a dream, they are without substance and separate from things. Thus it is said. Thus, to contemplate phenomena that are like dreams as being like the sky on the primordial ground is because they arise from illusory appearances, illusory grasping, and illusory thoughts. It is without truth, without falsehood, without duality, beyond mind, certainly self-aware and self-arising. It is neither yes nor no, neither is nor is not, liberated from extremes, in vast space. One should understand the intention of the Victorious Ones as being like the sky. Thus, all the illusory appearances of samsara arise from the accumulation of habits of illusory grasping. And that arises from the continuous unfolding of momentary illusory thoughts. The root of appearances such as the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, the nature of karma and afflictions, the mind that does not properly attend to them, the very nature of mind is like the sky, because it is not established anywhere. Giving on the primordial ground, from the Uttaratantra: Earth depends on water, water on wind, wind on space. Space does not depend on wind and water, nor does it depend on the element of earth. Likewise, the aggregates, elements, and sense powers depend on karma and afflictions. Karma and afflictions are not proper. Improper attention depends on the purity of mind. The nature of mind, all phenomena, does not depend on anything. Thus it is said. Thus, to show that samsara, which appears but has no nature, is primordially pure and equal, like the sky: All phenomena are by nature like a dream. From the moment they appear, they have no essence. Without abandoning their form, their appearance is unceasing. For a while, they are false, the form of emptiness in every way. If examined closely, they are neither true nor false. Neither existent nor nonexistent, their nature transcends extremes. Equal to space, beyond expression, separate from all objects of thought. One should know that their nature is primordially pure. All phenomena of existence and appearance are like the appearance of a dream, merely an appearance in relative truth, without substance, merely a clear appearance of emptiness. That, in ultimate truth, is the nature that transcends truth and falsehood, existence and nonexistence, like the sky. It is because of ignorance that all sentient beings cling to the clear appearance, which is originally without substance, as being true, and thus engage in illusory appearances. However, even at the time of engaging, the nature of reality is not moved in the slightest. Therefore, the intention of the Sugatas, the Dharmakaya, arises as various displays from the nature that is like the sky.
