Therefore, it is necessary to ascertain that there is no inherent existence. By observing that the basis of appearance has no inherent existence, being free from all extremes of one and many, and determining that the dharmadhatu is sacred, it is: The ground-sphere is unchanging, the nature of mind is like the great sky. From the very nature of emptiness and clarity, free from elaboration, Like the sun, moon, planets, and stars, the stainless Dharma, The spontaneously accomplished three bodies and wisdom are inseparable. It is inherently luminous and perfectly endowed with qualities. This is the natural, primordial state of affairs, Which is said to be the illusion of the ground. Therefore, the source of the illusion of samsara and nirvana is the awareness, the mind of enlightenment, which is originally luminous, the essence of the Sugata. Its essence is emptiness, like the sky; its nature is clarity, like the sun and moon; its compassion abides as the basis of manifestation, like the surface of a clear mirror. From such a state, all the dharmas of body and wisdom are spontaneously accomplished, originally existing as the qualities of the great luminous realm, just as the sun, moon, planets, and stars exist in the expanse of the sky. From the self-arising of awareness, it is said that the essence of that realm is like the sky, its nature is inherently luminous, and its compassion abides in the heart of awareness, becoming the basis for the manifestation of all qualities. This itself is the basis of both samsara and nirvana, the original luminous essence, called the illusion of the true realm. How do sentient beings mistake such a basis? That is: From that very nature, suddenly arise clouds of delusion, Like a dreamer with the state of sleep. Innate ignorance itself, And the mind defiled by grasping at duality. Arising from the ignorance of conceptual imputation, The manifold illusions of the six realms appear like dreams. Therefore, when a person falls asleep and dreams of happiness and suffering appear, it is also because the basis of manifestation, awareness, is disturbed by sleep. When this happens, just as illusions arise from the dreams of habitual tendencies, and one separately experiences and clings to the appearances of non-existent clarity, from the state of the original luminous realm, when the basis of appearance arises as an object, innate ignorance obscures itself, and because one does not recognize self-appearance, due to the ignorance of conceptual imputation clinging to duality, the discriminating object of grasping expands, and therefore the illusions of the six realms separately appear like dreams. The lowest sentient beings are the three lower realms, the middl

The gods and humans, whom I desire, and the great realms of form and formlessness, are like samsara. In the Sutra of the Collection of Precious Qualities of the Noble One, it is said: "All sentient beings, inferior, middling, and superior, arise from ignorance, as spoken by the Sugata." That is to say, the very ground of awareness, ignorance akin to sleep, together with pervasive conceptualization, due to being intoxicated by it, now the deluded appearances of the three realms arise like a dream. In the Secret Essence Tantra, it is said: "Emaho, from the Sugata-garbha, emanate the karmic manifestations of one's own conceptual thoughts, appearing as various bodies and enjoyments, and experiencing discordant pleasure and pain." So, how do such appearances arise? Though non-existent, they appear, and pleasure and pain are experienced separately. All these habits from a long time, including places, bodies, and enjoyments, etc., are the pleasure and pain resulting from self-appearing virtue and vice. Various forms, like drawings, are originally one, but due to delusion, they appear as many. By grasping at the many, the continuity of deluded appearances is never broken. Ema, the nature of existence is like a dream. Thus, all phenomena of appearance and existence are due to the increased power of the habit of clinging to the non-existent, clear appearance as true. Therefore, each of the six realms appears with its own places, bodies, enjoyments, and various pleasures and pains. This is because a single mind, due to the different actions of virtue and vice, appears as many deluded appearances. By clinging to appearances, one passes from one cycle of existence to another, just as knowing the various karmas of dreams, there is nothing other than the dream-like appearances. In the Wise and Foolish Sutra, it is said: "Beings are like dreams, likewise, karma is like a dream. All that is accepted by the doers is like a dream." That is to say, it is to show that there is nothing else apart from such deluded appearances. In the single essence of self-arisen mind, due to the sleep of ignorance, deluded appearances arise, the mind of grasper and grasped. These dream appearances, with their manifold variety, are nothing other than one's own mind. The Victorious Ones say that this is a false illusion. From the moment awareness slightly deviates into the sleep of grasper and grasped, the dreams of the six realms are merely appearances, and the true phenomena of the deluded appearances of samsara, whether internal or external, do not exist even in the slightest. In the Lankavatara Sutra, it is said: "There is no reality, only mind.", caused by habits.
