The eight of abandoning, gathering, and averting illness. First, training: By not straying from the single-pointed intention of dreams during the day, train whatever appears as a dream, and in the dream, recognize the dream, and train everything as a dream. Transformation is: During the day, transform different images in a mirror one after another, transforming all appearances into the form of deities, etc. When doing this, in dreams too, transform those appearances from horses into elephants, etc., and even transform them into Buddha-fields and the forms of deities. Cutting is cutting off attachment to reality: During the day, do not grasp even the mere appearances of dreams as real. In the dream, after recognizing the dream, do not be happy or sad even if you are able to train and transform, but think that everything is unreal and without support, and immediately cut off all attachment to anything. Agitation is practicing skills, that is, in an instant, transform the appearance of the east into the west, and the appearance of the west into the east. Transform happiness into unhappiness, non-thought into thought, and thought into non-thought, etc. Binding is making it stable, that is, look at the experience of that time, and without losing that state, recognize it internally and meditate. Abandoning at the point is mixing it with the meaning of realization, that is, spontaneously liberated, without distinction, nakedly train the appearances of dreams and everything during the day without distraction. Gathering is meditating in the state, that is, in the state of training dreams as unreal and spontaneously liberated, gather the mind single-pointedly for a long time and meditate. Averting is averting into the nature of reality, that is, put down all appearances of the day, dreams, and views and meditations, and without thinking of anything, in the vast sky of emptiness, primordial purity, let it naturally dissolve into the self-arisen nature of reality. Having done this, first, diligence is great, mindfulness is medium, and clarity is clear. Finally, with joy and happiness, eventually dreams gradually cease, and dreams are liberated into luminosity, and day and night merge into the samadhi of the nature of reality. At this time, the body has no shadow, and one can clearly see the dust particles, and they appear as unreal like the appearance of a shadow. One has gone to self-liberation in the bardo, as it says in the *Madhyamakavatara*: "Train in illusory body and dreams. If one is familiar with that, this body too will appear like the form of a shadow."

It will become like that. Then, the body of the bardo, these will be clung to as oneself." "Thus it is said." "In this case, the practice of clear light relying on sleep is also from that same tantra: If one practices the meditation of sleep, having mastered it, there is no difference between day and night, external appearances are clear, and with this, great clear light is accomplished. Thus it is said. There are two in this: First, the general practice of clear light is to adjust the body posture and breath during the day, cultivate clear and lucid awareness, and expand the Sa Le. At night, one sleeps in the lion posture, and at the moment of falling asleep, one rests in the clear light of awareness without thought, without any dreams, resting in that state, one can also see the surrounding scenery, but without any speculation. If one falls asleep, then the appearances will definitely appear clearly and distinctly, and if one does not fall asleep, then a clear sensation will arise. At this time, the appearances of the five lights and the appearances of bindus, rays, and lamps will also appear clearly, which is called the clear light of appearance. Clear and lucid awareness is the clear light of emptiness, resting in the three: bliss, clarity, and non-thought. Combining clear light with key points, there are four specific practices: In the evening, gather the senses into their places; at midnight, place the knowable into the vase; at dawn, make wisdom appear clearly; and during the day, seal the appearances with vastness. The first is to meditate in a conch shell room, focusing the mind on the lamp of the empty bindu." "The second is to focus the mind single-pointedly on the white A (藏文,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:阿) in the heart." "The third is to focus the mind on the A (藏文,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:阿) shot from the heart, remaining suspended in the sky of an arm's length, in the lion's posture. The fourth is to adjust the body posture and mind as before, cultivate clear and lucid awareness, and then recognize illusion as a dream. These are also from the Six Realms: Expand appearances during the day, at night in one's own dwelling, in order to measure the equality of the four times, gather the doors of the senses, the yogi focuses the mind on the lamp of the empty bindu, and when the bindu increases, also focus on the increase of awareness. Similarly, when the bindu becomes smaller, the bindu becomes smaller and smaller, and awareness also becomes smaller and smaller. The key points of sleep and dreams can eradicate the habitual tendencies of past attachments from their root.
