and should not become cause and effect, and that wisdom is inherently present, which is the nature of the Buddha, to combine these two into one is extremely inappropriate, just like mistaking the sun for a cloud. No! Here, the mind is not desired as the result, but rather wisdom is desired as empty, clear, and pure. As it says in "That Itself": "The mind is not desired as the result, because there is the wisdom of awareness." And in "The Mirror of the Heart of Kuntuzangpo": "To consider appearance as the Dharmakaya is an obscuration for me. To consider whatever appears as the mind is an obscuration for me. To consider wisdom as the mind is an obscuration for me." So it is. Moreover, nowadays, ignorant ordinary people say that appearance is their own mind, appearance is the Dharmakaya, and wisdom is the mind, just like saying the head is the foot, fire is water, darkness is light, there is no difference from madmen who babble whatever they please. And compared to those people, the conceited thought is even greater, so they appear even more ignorant. If appearance is the mind, then the mind should have colors and so on. When you are not present, your mind should be in this direction, because appearance is present. Moreover, if one arises, all arise, and if one dies, all die. When countless people see one vase, just as there is only one mind, all people should be one mind. Because the object of knowledge of the Buddha's knowledge of all things is all dharmas, samsara should become the Buddha's wisdom. When sentient beings see the Buddha, the Buddha should be mistaken, because it is the mind of sentient beings. The sentient being should be the Buddha, because the Buddha is the mind of that sentient being. Just as the mind changes in an instant, like a wave, this appearance should also change like a wave in an instant, and so on, there are very many. If appearance is the Dharmakaya, then this appearance should transcend appearance and non-appearance, because the Dharmakaya transcends appearance and non-appearance. The Dharmakaya should be a delusion, the Dharmakaya should be considered a real thing and a characteristic, because this appearance is considered a delusion and a real characteristic. This appearance should not appear in delusion, because the Dharmakaya should not appear in delusion, because it is the ultimate truth. As it says in "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life": "The ultimate is not the object of the mind, the mind is said to be the conventional truth." And as it says in "The Diamond Cutter Sutra":

Recollections are the Dharmakaya. Dharmata is not an object of knowledge, it cannot be known. This is clear. Wisdom being mind has already been refuted. In short, to say that is like placing a herd of cows in one place, and cannot be refuted by scripture or reason. As Dharmakirti said in the Pramāṇavārttika: Because the boundaries of wrong paths are endless, those should not be elaborated here. As it is said. Third, the way to advise understanding is: Therefore, intelligent people should understand the difference between mind and wisdom. As it says in the Pearl Rosary: Because the mind arises from accumulation, it is mixed with impurities, and is also the alaya-consciousness, etc. Because it has become a number of impurities, the difference between mind and wisdom should be known by the wise. Thus. Fourth, there are two aspects to the nature of these two, of which, the nature of mind is established as a mistaken appearance, which is the aspect of the three realms. As it says in the Prasangika: What is called mind is mistaken thought. Thus. The nature of wisdom is non-conceptual, as it says in itself: Wisdom is not conceptual. Thus. Fifth, there are two aspects to the place, of which, the place of mind is the alaya-consciousness, and the place of wisdom is the Dharmakaya. As it says in the Long Drugpa: Alas! Great Bodhisattva, the place of mind is the alaya-consciousness. Why is that? Because the alaya-consciousness is the collection of all objects of thought, and is known as mind. The place of wisdom is the Dharmakaya. Why is that? Because the Dharmakaya does not have all memories and thoughts, and does not have the consciousness of holding different objects. Thus. In this way, the mind is like a cloud obscuring wisdom, and wisdom is like the sun, and there is no common ground between the two. Because what is obscured and what obscures exist separately, when it is recognized that the mind and the appearance on the mind are mistaken, the external object of appearance and the mind that holds it are recognized as rootless and temporary. When it is recognized that wisdom and the appearance of wisdom are not mistaken, awareness freely controls the mandala of the Dharmakaya. Therefore, mind and wisdom should be distinguished. If they are not distinguished, wisdom will be obscured by the mind, and the self-nature of union cannot appear, there is such a fault. As it says in itself: Alas! Great Bodhisattva, if the mind and wisdom do not distinguish their respective natures, it is like the sun being obscured by clouds.
