, that is, aging and eventual death arise in a related manner. From "Self-Arisen Treatise": That is, it arises from ignorance. From ignorance arises formation. Formation is consciousness. From consciousness arises name. From name arises the nature of form. From form arise the six sense bases. From the six sense bases arises contact. From contact arises feeling. From feeling arises craving. From craving arises grasping. From grasping arises existence. From existence arises birth. From birth arises aging. From aging arises sickness. From sickness arises death. Etc. Thus, the phenomenon that appears as the illusory cycle of existence also arises from the power of the habit of clinging to what does not exist as self, due to one's own ignorance. After the aggregates, elements, and sense bases of each body are formed, they revolve from one to another and always exist in existence. From "String of Pearls": Thus, the three realms are the five aggregates and five faculties, five limbs and five hearts, five objects and five afflictions, five minds, five intentions, and five discriminations, which constitute the cycle of grasping and being grasped. Such a dualistic illusion is like a fast-moving wheel, constantly spinning and lasting for a long time. Etc. That is, the five objects such as form arise from not recognizing the five lights as self-manifesting and clinging to them; the five afflictions arise from not recognizing the nature of the five wisdoms; the five that gather various kinds of body and mind arise from the impure nature of the self-radiance of reality; the five such as mind that seek everywhere arise from the impure five winds; the five such as clinging to the self with thought and memory, and clinging to various objects as self, and clinging to different movements as self, and clinging to mere appearances of consciousness as self, and clinging to thoughts with discrimination of dharmas as self, arise from the movement not being determined in itself. Thus, the impure dharmas of samsara arise from the state of awareness, abide in the state, and are enjoyed in the state, without the slightest movement apart from that, just as a dream does not move from the state of sleep. In reality, the manifestation of emptiness, devoid of substance, is merely a magical display of luminosity, which is the purity of samsara. This is called the common purity.
