"Illusory Appearance and Illusory Grasping." The six dharmas of having leisure and endowments are: Even if one has wealth, one strives in practice because of meaningless deception; even if one hears, one loses it because of words, so one strives in practice; even if one knows, one loses the essence, so one strives in practice; even if one thinks, conceptual thoughts proliferate, so one strives in practice; even if one speaks, the key points are missed, so one strives in practice; if one does not practice, it will not manifest, so one strives in practice. The six dharmas of abandoning samsara and training the mind are: Abandoning worldly affairs because of meaningless deception; abandoning attachment to desirable qualities because of increasing desire; abandoning evil schemes because of having no essence; abandoning attachment to wealth and possessions by abandoning everything; abandoning the sorrow of relatives and friends because conditioned things will separate; cutting off the root of afflictions, abandoning grasping and clinging to grasping. If one abandons these, then the sacred Dharma will naturally be accomplished. The six dharmas of generating certainty about cause and effect are: Listening to the scriptures and having faith in cause and effect; accumulating the two accumulations with the example of filling a vase with water droplets; abandoning sins with the example of a spark burning a forest; accumulating merit because happiness and suffering are caused by past actions; learning gradually because the accumulations are not completed at once; believing that there is karma if there is self-grasping. Abandoning the six faults of the vessel for listening to the Dharma: Like an uncleaned pot when the time has not come; like a pot turned upside down, not paying attention; like a pot with a hole in the bottom, not retaining what is heard; like a pot mixed with afflictions, like a pot containing poison; like a pot that does not go on the path, like a pot stained with dirt; like a pot full of arrogance with words, like a bad vessel. Abandoning these faults, listen well and thoroughly. The six dharmas of truly hearing the sacred Dharma are: Possessing supreme wisdom, seeking meaning, being impartial; relying on a spiritual friend, knowing that one is never satisfied with hearing; relying on many, pleasing the wise; opening various Dharma doors by hearing much; repeatedly remembering by hearing much; hearing much, questioning, and debating. One will become a holder of the Dharma treasury like an ocean. Then, the six dharmas of pure thought are: What meaning does this word indicate? If analyzed, what is it? If summarized, how is it? What is the nomenclature? To which aspect does it belong? In short, what is the ultimate practice? By thinking well in this way, one opens the precious Dharma door. Then, the six dharmas of pure meditation are: Not being confused about the nature of reality, being liberated from the extremes of permanence and annihilation; becoming the Mahayana path, emptiness and great compassion are connected.

The nature of reality abides, without sinking, agitation, or wavering. The union of calm abiding and insight meditation increases realization. There is no object, sign, or fixation of hope and fear. It is the antidote to the obscurations of afflictions. That meditator will cross to the other shore of existence. The six dharmas without being deceived by conditions: Knowing praise and blame as echoes in the rocks, Not creating desire and aversion for others, One's own actions not conflicting with the Dharma, Not accumulating offerings and the fruits of generosity, Not making obstacles of sickness, evil spirits, and virtuous encouragement, Pure perception and devotion are continuous, They are the heroes who transform unfavorable conditions. The six dharmas of abandoning defiled evil thoughts: The evil thought of achieving great fame, The evil thought of achieving gain and enjoyment, The thought of grasping appearances as true, The thought of body and speech being driven by desire, The thought of achieving livelihood in this life, The thought of wanting liberation alone, Arising from the blessings of demons, the wise should abandon. The six dharmas of not following the senses to objects: One's own land not being tainted by the poison of attachment and aversion, Not being seized by the suffering of self-gratifying pleasures, Not being struck by the weapons of the eight worldly concerns, Conduct not being stained by the impurity of deceit, Not being moved by the winds of various distractions, Passing days and nights with virtuous Dharma practice, One should enter the conduct of the holy ones. The six dharmas that can nourish with faith: With longing faith, supplicate and meditate on the guru. With respectful faith, diligently make offerings to the Three Jewels. With trusting faith, practice the meditation and accomplishment of the yidam. With pure faith, focus on the meaning of the nature of reality. With irreversible faith, transform adverse conditions into helpers. With clinging faith, blend one's own mindstream with the Dharma. Therefore, practicing the path of liberation is extremely important. The six dharmas of guarding vows without hypocrisy: Knowing that the root of the teachings is discipline, Knowing that the guide to the lower realms is sin, If there is no guarding of vows, the root of the Dharma rots, Knowing it as the basis of all qualities, Knowing it as the ladder to climb to higher realms, Knowing it as the vehicle to cross over samsara (1), Diligently cherish and protect pure discipline. The six dharmas of overcoming adverse conditions with antidotes: Like the Hearers, abandoning seeing as enemies, Like the Paramitas,
