Not knowing. Not knowing the separation of loved ones and friends. Not knowing the many faults of craving sensual pleasures. Not knowing the accumulation of wealth and possessions. Not knowing the impermanence of laziness in meditation and practice. May you abandon all these arising faults. The six dharmas that blend one's own continuum with the Dharma are: Attachment self-reverts like rotten clothes discarded on a cliff. Compassion moistens the continuum like a mother with an only child. Qualities arise effortlessly like the earth in summer. Continuous diligence is like a wheel of swords. Illusory appearances self-liberate like a snake's knot. The natural state of reality is like a captain reaching his homeland. Such a qualified and supreme being is the venerable Guru. The six deluded dharmas that are incompatible with the Dharma are: The mind attached to samsara is difficult to separate from. The unstable awareness is easily deceived. The delusion of the six aggregates' objects is skillful at enticing. The meaningless activities of samsara are easily exhausting. Life is consumed by day and night, passing quickly. Spending a small life on insignificant matters is numerous. Thinking of these, may you become a treasure of the sacred Dharma. The six dharmas that urge towards the true meaning are: When will the two certain deceivers, attachment and aversion, deceive? When will these two certain separations, body and mind, separate? When will the borrowed elements of the four elements be taken away? When will the certain disappearance of this life's appearances vanish? When will the illusory wealth and possessions be abandoned? When will the certain arrival of the Lord of Death, Yama, come? Thinking thus, contemplate day and night from the heart. The six dharmas that mix one's own continuum with the Dharma are: Desiring to exhaust desires, rely on the mind of contentment. Desiring to exhaust hatred, pacify anger within. Desiring to accomplish the benefit of others, apply the mind of enlightenment to your continuum. Desiring to subdue other appearances, infuse blessings within. Desiring to purify the realms, cultivate the clear light of self-awareness. Desiring to pacify suffering, infuse great bliss within. The inner interdependence manifests outwardly. The six dharmas of having leisure and endowment but being without essence are: Abandoning listening and contemplation, the antidote to ignorance. Abandoning the Guru, the root of blessings. Abandoning the Yidam, the source of accomplishments. Postponing meditation, the root of what is to be accomplished. Increasing sins and obscurations, abandoning the antidote to sickness and demonic influences. Other appearances and actions are contrary to the path. For a person without essence, it is like a magnet attracting iron. The six faults of individuals that should be abandoned are: Having many activities without shame.

Do not appear. Affectionate attachment and aversion to relatives and friends cannot be escaped. Greed for food leads to poverty in clothing and food. Rhetorical flattery contradicts the core meaning. When desires arise, there is no effort; when success comes, it does not exist. If you are not familiar now, your strength will be weakened in the bardo. Therefore, it is important to carefully examine and abandon the six faults. The six ways to tame one's own mind are: When attachment to objects arises, observe the changes of the four seasons. When permanence is attached to life, observe the dew on the tip of the grass. If you are confused about cause and effect, observe the seed and the sprout. If you do not understand appearance and mind, observe the dreams in sleep. If you do not understand one taste, observe the image of brown sugar. If you do not understand non-duality, observe water and ice. By observing in this way, the antidotes for each are powerful. The six kinds of awareness that lead the mind to the path are: Seeing the lama as a doctor. Seeing fellow practitioners and attendants as nursing, practicing, and healing diseases. Seeing oneself as a patient and Dharma as medicine. Thinking of the result as the cure of the disease. Thus, abandon inverted thinking. The six certainties that come from good practice are: By relying on the lama, it is certain that blessings will be received. By practicing the yidam, it is certain that accomplishments will be achieved. By keeping vows, it is certain that oath-bound deities will gather. By diligently practicing, it is certain that realizations will arise. By guarding the true nature, it is certain that the two obscurations will be purified. By exerting effort without distraction, it is certain that qualities will arise. The six fears that arise after recognizing one's own nature are: Worldly affairs are like an elephant sinking in the mud. Affectionate attachment to relatives and friends is like a prison guard. The enjoyments of this life are like an old dog gnawing on bones. Ignorance and sinful deeds are like a blind man on the edge of a cliff. The five poisonous emotions are like being tormented by a poisonous snake. Attachment to the six objects is like a bee trapped in nectar. It is important to generate fear and abandon them from afar. The six faults of worldly human laws are: Attachment to land and cities is like an iron chamber of hell. Children and wives are like a forest of sword leaves. Gorgeous decorations and clothes are like burning flames. Food and drink are like red-hot iron balls. Servants and laborers are like hell's jailers. Anger and fighting are like hail of sparks. Know that this is a place that destroys virtue. The six dharmas that recognize the faults of desire are: Because of desire, the body and mind suffer in this life. In the next life, one falls into evil realms and wanders in samsara forever. Contending with everyone, non-virtue naturally increases. Virtue decreas
