Because there is no place, it is impossible to have hands, feet, and shape. Because the worlds are without limit, there is no order of head and limbs. If the top is the head and the bottom is the feet, then this vase in front would be both head and feet, because the realm of the gods is below and hell is above." "If male and female are left and right, then when they walk, I will also walk. Because my waist, male and female are walking. If you think so, then the unchanging permanence will disappear. If the mountain is the chest, then when the mountain collapses, the chest will also collapse." "Fourth, if sentient beings and mountains, etc., do not exist, then I will also not exist, and I will change like the change of time. Fifth, even if the god Śiva gives to hell, if I do not give, then the god Śiva and his self, substance, or essence will not be the same. Sixth, if the general or merely the image cannot be thought or spoken, then it cannot be heard or thought, and if the meaning cannot be thought, then it is impossible to attain liberation. If no one can ever speak or think, then it becomes non-existent in the knowable. Seventh, that self does nothing, because it is pervasive and constant. That is, if doing something requires going and coming, etc., then that self will not do it. One's own self is not pervasive, so there is no sending out and no coming from others, because it is originally inside me, like an illusion. Therefore, I do not pervade everything. Like the self, the non-self also has no object to be pervaded and no pervader, because it is not established anywhere, so it is beyond elaboration, and it is not even separate from the imputation of pervasion and non-pervasion. Even if one says non-self, if one does not accept pervasion and non-pervasion, that is the Middle Way. The *Bodhicaryāvatāra* says: 'For that which is all-pervasive, there is no action; that which has action is not permanent; that which has no action is equal to non-existence; why are you not happy with non-self?' And so on. If you say that it is like a mountain that does not move, but trees and grass grow, it is not the same, even on top of a mountain that is not pervasive, trees grow, and when the roots of the tree are cut, the soil of the mountain will be lifted up. Therefore, the self is what some outsiders think, that the body of the *puruṣa* is the self, because the body contains and does not contain, I contain.

It is for the sake of saying. Some say that it is not feasible, because when an elephant dies and is reborn as an ant, it changes from large to small, so the self becomes impermanent. The entity of the self is as small as a mustard seed, or as minute as an extremely small dust particle, and as soon as it is born, it enters the center of the heart and abides in the body. At the time of death, it comes out and transfers to other places. As the branch of Yibu says: "The self is constant and the mind changes, departing like a broken pottery and a flying bird." Some say that it is not feasible, moving from east to west, from the center to the periphery, from here to the other shore. If it moves, it becomes impermanent. The self pervades everywhere, and for it, there is no size or transfer, abiding unchanged, like space. For example, space pervades, so in any direction, it equally pervades in containers such as bottles. So it is thought. Even so, if there is a self, a self that does not pervade but transfers, like a broken pottery and a flying bird, it becomes impermanent. The self that pervades and is stable, because it cannot function, becomes meaningless. As the Four Hundred Verses says: "Some see it as small as a mustard seed, some see it as the size of a man's body, some see it as everywhere, the wise know it is non-existent." The analogy is not established because space, bottles, and kings are not established. Space, like having no foundation, cannot be used as an analogy for the self. Like bottles being different from each other, it cannot be used as an analogy. The king cannot pervade the people, because the essence and things are different, so the analogy is not established. Habituation is meaningless, if the nature of mind is constant, then practicing the path is meaningless, because abandoning old faults, newly obtaining merits, and the continuum becoming more advanced than before are impossible, so it falls into a state of being unable to be liberated. As that treatise says: "What harm is there in constancy? How can there be liberation without harm?" Like this. Temporary impermanence has been prevented. Liberation is not achieved through knowledge, because the self cannot be liberated through knowledge, because it is not knowable, like nature. Because contemplating non-existent things as existent, one ultimately cannot be liberated, because this is a wrong view. In this way, those who claim to be on their own side, think that all phenomena are their own mind, think that the mind is unchanging, and think that once the view is realized, there is no need to accumulate merit, no need to do good, etc.
