It also seems to have been blocked. We, these people, do not cling to the nature of mind, the nature of phenomena, and the dharma called "base" with conceptual thoughts, nor do we slander the two accumulations of appearance and causality, but attain enlightenment through the way of appearance emptiness, baselessness, and illusion. In short, we have finished refuting the view that considers the Vedas as valid means of cognition. Now, we must determine the distinction and refutation of the tenets of the Naked Sect: The Naked Sect follows Brahma, takes the teachings of the Victorious One as valid, and believes that the meaning of words is seven non-ones. Therefore, they abandon the meaning of the Holy Ones and dwell in the dense forest of samsara. Those who practice naked asceticism regard Brahma as a god and follow the Brahmin teacher, the Victorious One. They divide all knowable things into seven word meanings, and also summarize the infinite appearances into the many natures of place, time, and number as one. Those who seek liberation through this path have entered the vast and dense forest of samsara, making it difficult to obtain the opportunity for liberation. If we broadly divide their tenets, they regard Brahma as a god and the Victorious One as a teacher. Therefore, among the schools that regard treatises such as the Vaisheshika Sutra as valid means of cognition, there are the Naked Sect, the Ascetic Sect, the Brahma Sect, the Ash Sect, the Direction-Clad Sect, the Sky-Clad Sect, the Victorious Sect, the Vaisheshika Sect, and the Wandering Sect. Because they are naked without clothes, they are called the Naked Sect. Because they live in a place where they can see the sky and consider themselves pure without covering, they are called the Sky-Clad Sect or the Direction-Clad Sect. They are called the Ascetic Sect because they practice asceticism through fasting and other means. They are called the Brahma Sect because they regard Brahma as a god. They are called the Victorious Sect because they regard the Brahmin Victorious One as a teacher. They are called the Vaisheshika Sect because they rely on the Vaisheshika Sutra. They are called the Ash Sect because they smear ash on their bodies. They are called the Wandering Sect because they wander in all uncertain places. According to the views of these schools, the classification of knowable things and the common nature are summarized into two. Therefore, the classification of knowable things is: seven meanings, namely, asceticism, discipline, afflictions, bondage, liberation, life, and non-life. As the Vaisheshika Sutra says: The Naked Sect is these seven, namely, asceticism, discipline, afflictions.
