Even if the appearance is confused or not confused, the intermediate kalpa that exists temporarily before liberation, ignorance does not actually exist, but is only in a similar state of not knowing one's own nature, like the stage of a sprout. Partial ignorance tends to fade into the five lights, but because it does not produce confusion and sentient beings, it is divided into immovable vajra wisdom. It is called having the nature of luminosity. After that, when attachment arises and is confused as sentient beings, it is called the final kalpa. In all these stages, the fundamental nature was not confused at first, is not confused now, and will not be confused in the future, the Dharmakaya is in a state of immaculate purity, just as the sun has no darkness in the past, present, and future. However, it appears as confusion due to conditions or phenomena, like being obscured by clouds, or like crystal temporarily changing color when it comes into contact with any cloth. As it is said in the Explanatory Tantra: Son of lineage, listen well! The unchanging basis, the blessed great Vajradhara who is enlightened from the beginning, has never been confused in the past, is not confused now, and will not be confused in the future. For example, there is no basis of darkness in the essence of the sun, or like crystal appearing when it comes into contact with any condition, although it appears with the power of purity, the crystal itself is not stained. So it is said. Regarding the three kalpas, it is also said therein: Son of lineage, to illustrate this, I will tell a word of metaphor. First, the fundamental appearance exists above, the Buddha exists below, and between the two, practice diligence, this is called the intermediate kalpa. Abiding in one's own position, therefore it is called immovable. Because of attachment to what is not that, the five lights fade and wisdom is empty, it is called immovable vajra. It is divided because it has not been liberated. Although the essence is clear and uninterrupted, it is called the non-manifest luminosity nature because it has not actually manifested. Although it transcends the basis, it is actually neither a Buddha nor a sentient being, it is in the middle like a sprout. It is called arising as a sprout. This is what I said in the tantra I spoke of. One should understand everything that arises. So it is said. In all the tantras and teachings I have spoken, I have spoken of the words of the final kalpa. Because it possesses the eight aggregates of consciousness, it is a sentient being. It is said that this is because there is transforming air, so there is discriminating mind. Second, the specific order of the actual manner of confusion

There are five points to explain this. As it says in the Explanatory Tantra: I will explain in detail the manner of delusion, the basis, cause, and time of delusion, the conditions of delusion, and delusion itself. Therefore, first, there are three bases of delusion: the spontaneously perfect Dharma-nature awareness, and the five lights manifesting outwardly as the basis of delusion for objects, mind, and body, explained through the first, middle, and last three. It is also reasonable that there is some similarity to the basis of delusion. It also says in the same text: First, show the basis of delusion, in which there are also three aspects: Dharma-nature is shown as the basis of delusion for objects, awareness is the basis of delusion for mind, and the five lights are shown as the basis of delusion for body. First, Dharma-nature awareness is emptiness, in the middle, wisdom arises in various forms, and finally, attachment, conceptualization, and habitual tendencies increase. From this, it appears as if without impurities. This is shown as the basis of delusion for objects. Now explain the basis of delusion for mind. First, awareness changes unceasingly, in the middle, attachment arises to the radiance, and finally, the cause of mind is extracted. From this, various thoughts arise. This is shown as the basis of mind. Now show the basis of delusion for body. First, in the expanse of awareness, the five essences appear. In the middle, in the expanse of Dharma-nature, those five bodies appear. . Finally, habitual tendencies arise towards them, and the coarse aggregates of form appear. This is shown as an example of the basis of delusion for body. I have explained the reasonableness of the three bases. Hey, hey, secret lord, be sure to remember!. Dharma-nature corresponds to the basis of delusion for objects, why does it appear as unconscious matter? Awareness corresponds to the basis of delusion for mind, why is it that only awareness is mutually consistent? The five lights correspond to the basis of delusion for objects, because colors and shapes are mutually consistent. So it says. In general, the basis is spontaneous perfection, and the basis of delusion is the arising of awareness, which arises from spontaneous perfection in the intermediate eon, so distinguishing is very important. Second, from the cause of delusion, ignorance, the essence is bewilderment, the definition is not understanding, the classification is: in terms of awareness, there are two types of ignorance: the co-emergent ignorance that does not recognize oneself as wisdom, and the imputational ignorance that grasps others as other than oneself. For example, like a blind old woman wandering aimlessly. The way of delusion is: like mistaking a rope for a snake, although it does not exist in itself, it appears in manifestation, and therefore is grasped and deluded. Synonyms for the name are: ignorance, delusion, unknowing, non-understanding, non-seeing, delusion, perversion.
