Therefore, through application, from hope and fear, rejection and acceptance, the reality of manifest afflictions is abandoned, and appearances and mind manifest in the nature of reality. Ultimately, all appearances manifest as complete liberation, the four seasons abide in the nature of reality, and awareness transcends any direction, thus realization transcends meditation sessions. All of these are called the "practice of focusing on appearances," because when focusing on appearances, one is liberated from the dualistic clinging of rejection and acceptance. Such realization is that, in order to train the power of awareness to radiate outward, appearances and existence are regarded as the basis of realization. Furthermore, since appearances arise from the state of the basic nature of reality, they are called "establishment." In reality, the nature of reality has neither appearance nor disappearance, it is eternal and unchanging. Furthermore, afflictions arise and are liberated, without any before or after, therefore it is called the "practice of non-abandonment and liberation." The fourth meaning is that, regarding the yoga of continuously tending towards the fruition, there are also three. First, identifying the fruition is: when the self-illuminating wisdom of the Buddha-fruition, the state of great perfection spontaneously accomplished, abides within oneself, and one trains at the moment of recognizing oneself, afflictions are naturally purified and naturally liberated, self-illuminating wisdom manifests nakedly and clearly, liberated from hope, fear, artifice, and pretense, just like the sun is liberated from the clouds, or delusion is non-conceptual in the state of one's own continuum, and does not regress like the original stainless state, just like the fruit of the sandalwood tree, and having attained self-mastery after realizing one's own unchanging nature, just like the descendants of the king are empowered from the crown of their heads. Furthermore, in the fruition, the element of self-nature luminosity and stainlessness, at the moment of recognizing oneself, becomes increasingly pure, until liberation from all defilements, these are called "fruition" here. From its essence, just like the mandala of the sun, there has never been defilement, therefore it is called the original place of liberation, but in the middle, due to the obscuration of conditions, like clouds, ultimately, before separating from the body, speech, and mind of samsara, because the element possesses the obscuration of mind, therefore it is called sentient being. On the path, by meditating on the meaning of separation from mind, intellect, and all consciousness, the part where defilements are naturally purified is the fruition of separation, namely the temporary four appearances, and the two states of ultimately reaching the dharmadhatu, according to their characteristics, are called learners and non-learners on the five paths. Since this itself is the ultimate fruition, it is the original place of liberation.

Even the preliminary practices are not like first cultivating calm abiding and then insight, and there are differences between having defilements and not having defilements. Therefore, it is necessary to distinguish between the ground and the result. Secondly, to become familiar with the means, when abiding within or arising outwards and tending towards self-liberation, one should practice awareness resting in the present moment. And having ascertained that this very abiding is the intention of the Buddha, without hope or doubt, and letting go completely, this is called the pith instruction of awareness resting in the present moment, because self-awareness is primordially Buddha, and it is due to resting after recognizing one's own nature. Among these, it is crucial to possess the three unchanging instructions. What are they? The king occupying the throne without changing is like when a great king ascends the throne, merely sitting on the throne in the palace, all the subjects inside and outside remain without disturbance. Similarly, the king of spontaneously accomplished awareness dwells in the heart, recognizing his own nature. When in a state without hope or doubt, the alaya consciousness with its various habitual tendencies, together with the eight consciousnesses, will completely tend towards original purity. The minister being valued and not changing is like when a wise minister is drawn over by others, at that time the king must also listen. Similarly, when the movement of the mind's consciousness ceases, the king of awareness listens solely, that is, abiding in one's own nature. The subjects being subdued and not changing is like when the king subdues the territory, they must listen to all commands. Similarly, when the manifestations of the five sense consciousnesses are exhausted, the name of samsara no longer exists. Moreover, all the phenomena of samsara depend on the mind, and when the nature of the mind is purified, samsara is also purified. All past phenomena depend on the wisdom of awareness, therefore, resting on awareness, all the key points of manifesting as self-accomplished Buddhahood are contained within these two. Here, I will briefly explain the differences between these two: the nature of mind is ignorance, the nature of awareness is wisdom. The nature of mind is the basis of karma and habitual tendencies, the nature of awareness is not the basis of karma and habitual tendencies. The nature of mind is the nature of the delusion of grasping and being grasped, the nature of awareness is the nature of non-delusion, being free from grasping and being grasped. The nature of mind is with the limits of elaboration, the nature of awareness is free from all elaboration. The nature of mind is the alaya consciousness and the eight consciousnesses, the nature of awareness transcends the alaya consciousness and the eight consciousnesses.
