It is said that without it, one will not fall into the wrong path. Second, the wrong paths of place and companion are shown: A person who has meditation must meditate in a place that has the characteristics of a place. If one stays in a noisy monastery and a place where afflictions are rampant, one will be dominated by afflictions due to shadows, possessions, and attachment and aversion. If one associates with bad companions, the growth of meditation will be diminished, and one will buy one's own suffering. Tso Gyal said that if one wants to practice genuine Dharma, one must resolutely abandon the entanglements of bad places and bad companions, etc., in order to go deep. Third, the wrong paths of meditation faults are: When practicing meditation, there are three things: sinking, excitement, and scattering. Sinking has six types: sinking due to place, sinking due to companion, sinking due to time, sinking due to food, sinking due to posture, and sinking due to meditation. First, sinking due to place is: Living in low forest valleys and dilapidated villages with shadows will make awareness dull, bindu unclear, wisdom blurred, sleepy, and the body heavy. For this, one should take a bath and confess, go to a clean and high place, meditate in a quiet place, and separate the hail of the lungs. Meditate on the target being on the top of a snow mountain, with hail hitting it. This will eliminate it. Second, sinking due to companion is: Living with people who have shadows, or with people whose lineage of mudra mothers is not pure, or being affected by shadows because of doing obscene things. For this, one should perform fulfillment and confession, and take a bath. Protect people who have broken vows and have shadows, find a mudra mother who has signs and receive empowerment, and do not fall into promiscuity. This will eliminate it. Third, sinking due to time is: If it is gloomy and turbid like spring or summer, going to the snowy mountains, etc., will eliminate it. Fourth, sinking due to food and clothing is: Because people's food and clothing have shadows, they become sinking and dark, so when practicing, one should avoid people's food and clothing that have shadows. This will eliminate it. Fifth, sinking due to posture is: If beginners sleep, etc., they will become sinking, so when meditating, one should take three postures or vajra posture, etc., and concentrate on awareness, clear the senses, and meditate on being clear and bright. This will eliminate it. Sixth, sinking due to meditation is: When meditating, if one meditates from the lower abdomen, one will have a feeling of sinking and blurring, which is sinking.

By combining the clarity of the lamp with the senses, and directing the senses towards the sky, make it bright, clear, and sharp, and focus the attention on awareness. This eliminates distraction. In the stages of the path, it is said that if dullness and agitation do not affect awareness, that is the answer. TsoGyal said that to eliminate the obstacles to meditation, it cannot be eliminated if one is not a diligent person. The fourth is the fault of afflictions: For a person who cultivates meditation, there are many enemies and thieves of afflictions. If summarized briefly, there are five: hatred, pride, desire, jealousy, and ignorance. Because of this root, eighty-four thousand afflictions arise, so it does not allow the meditator to abide. Each of these five poisons gives rise to five afflictions, thus leading one into samsara. For these, do not be distracted as if losing one's only child, and like a poisonous snake appearing in one's lap, abandon them, hold them with mindful awareness, and practice like taking the path at the time of viewing. If you do not do this, you will accumulate bad karma in an instant. TsoGyal said that if you want to avoid such mistakes, you must be skilled in treating the five poisons as enemies, and not be separated from the fire of mindfulness, and strive to abandon and adopt. In general, until stability in view and meditation is attained, it is most important to flee alone like a female deer, and to flee from afflictions as if seeing a poisonous snake. Second, the fault of agitation is twofold: agitation caused by the place and agitation caused by circumstances. First, agitation caused by the place is: By meditating in a clear and high place, awareness becomes clear, but consciousness cannot abide, and wandering and scattering thoughts arise. If left to their own devices, they will be influenced by afflictions. For this situation: lower the awareness to a lower level and focus on it. If this does not work, control it with the perspective of the Shravakas. Sometimes, fix awareness on an object. At night, rotate like placing an egg on the sole of the foot chakra, or lie down like putting the mind into a black dot. It is said that awareness can also be placed on the "Ah" (Tibetan: ཨ) of the secret place. If thoughts suddenly arise, identify them, make the sound "Phat" (Tibetan: ཕཊ), hold the breath, and then slowly relax and let go. Or, chase the thoughts until they cannot be found, and then abide in that state. This eliminates agitation. Second, agitation caused by circumstances is: By any external factor causing thoughts to arise, the mind inclines towards afflictions.
