What is it then? The『Union of Sun and Moon』says: "The wisdom of the ground has three aspects: the wisdom of the essence of primordial purity, the wisdom of self-arisen perfection, and the wisdom of compassionate self-appearance." So it is said. The characteristics of these wisdoms are: The『Luminous Expanse』says: "The wisdom of the essence of primordial purity is free from all ignorance and concepts; the wisdom of self-arisen perfection abides in the luminosity of emptiness as its own radiance; the wisdom of all-pervading compassion abides in the nature of unobstructed appearance and emptiness." So it is said. Also, the『Mirror of Mind』says: "The wisdom of the Dharmakaya is beyond thought and inexpressible; the wisdom of the Sambhogakaya is clear and unmixed in color; the wisdom of the Nirmanakaya can be transformed into anything." So it is said. However, these are not separate. The『Wordless』says: "Emaho! (藏文:ཨེ་མ་ཧོ།) For me, appearance and emptiness are complete without being abandoned." So it is said. The three wisdoms that abide in this way do not have delusion in their essence. For example, just as there is no basis for darkness in the essence of the sun, there is no establishment of awareness or unawareness, delusion or non-delusion in the essence. As the『String of Pearls』says: "In the primordial purity of the very beginning, even the name of delusion cannot be spoken. Likewise, what is non-delusion? Therefore, delusion is pure from the beginning." So it is said. The faces of these three wisdoms abide clearly, so they are free from partiality and without limits. As the Tantra says: "Because of emptiness, clarity, and non-obstruction, there is no limitation or partiality." So it is said. The nature of these three wisdoms abides as compassion, unobstructed and all-pervading, so they are in harmony with all dharmas and free from multiplicity and parts. As the Tantra says: "Unobstructed power manifests as anything; it is aware of emptiness and clarity and does not change." So it is said. Furthermore, these three wisdoms abide in the emptiness of essence, so they do not fall into the view of permanence; they abide in the clarity of nature, so they do not fall into the view of nihilism; compassion pervades all, so they do not fall into either side. As the『Self-Liberation』says: "The four extremes and defilements are self-purified." So it is said. Also, as the『Self-Arisen』says: "Transcending the extremes of permanence and annihilation." So it is said. That is to say, the emptiness of essence is the unobstructed self-radiance of the Dharmakaya, appearing as possessing the five wisdoms, which is called self-arisen perfection. The self-power of these two manifests as anything, which is called all-pervading compassion. That is to say, the essence of the Dharmakaya is

Emptiness. The nature of the Sambhogakaya is luminosity. The nature of the Nirmanakaya is great compassion. The awareness of emptiness abides in luminosity. The awareness of luminosity abides in the body. The awareness of the body abides in appearance and emptiness. Again, the awareness of the ground is great purity. The spontaneously accomplished awareness is body and wisdom. The awareness of compassion is unceasing and continuous. That is, one's own awareness of emptiness is the wisdom of the Dharmakaya. One's own awareness appearing as light and body is the wisdom of the Sambhogakaya. One's own awareness of unobstructed arising and liberation is the wisdom of the Nirmanakaya. It is said in the *Thal 'gyur*: "Wisdom abides in its own nature, In the manner of the three, it is indivisible." Thus it is said. That is, emptiness is the Dharmakaya. Luminosity is the Sambhogakaya. Compassion is the Nirmanakaya. Those three are also indivisible. Essence is appearance and emptiness, indivisible. Nature is luminosity and emptiness, indivisible. Compassion is awareness and emptiness, indivisible. Again, essence is awareness and emptiness, indivisible. Nature is appearance and emptiness, indivisible. Compassion is luminosity and emptiness, indivisible. It is said in the *Tantra*: "In the beginning, middle, and end, The three kayas are without distinction, Abiding in the mindstream of all sentient beings." Thus it is said. That is, the self-display of the three wisdoms, however it may appear in the six aggregates of sense objects, its essence does not go beyond emptiness, therefore there is no ignorance or confusion. If a person understands it in this way, then whatever they do now, there is no possibility of confusion. Again, it is said in the *Jeweled Filigree*: "Perfect enlightenment is self-awareness itself. Essence is unchanging in the three times. Nature is eternally unceasing. Compassion is self-appearing to all." Thus it is said. To summarize the meaning completely: It is said in the *Mirror of the Heart*: "Know all the dharmas of the ground as the three: essence, nature, and compassion. Know all the dharmas of essence as emptiness. Know all the dharmas of nature as luminosity. Know all the dharmas of compassion as pervading all sentient beings." Such three wisdoms, with Kuntuzangpo and, Even sentient lice, without good or bad, high or low, and distinction, pervade, It is said in the *Jeweled Filigree*: "Wherever space pervades sentient beings, The meaning of awareness is also the same." Thus it is said, It is said in the *String of Pearls*: "The one mind that pervades all
