Generally, it is like saying that among eight hundred assemblies, five hundred hold umbrellas. There are twenty-four most excellent disciples. Among them, here, the Kagyu lineage that arises from Marpa Sherab Yeshe, one of the four close sons of Je Gampopa, and is widely known as the Mar Tsang lineage, is the root, a lineage of accomplished ones appearing without interruption. In addition, the Kagyu lineage of Ling Repa Pema Dorje, the most excellent of the four ultimate sons of Phagdru, known as the Upper Druk, also exists in the manner of a river merging into the sea. Such a lineage is called the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel. Because the stream of blessings has never been interrupted, the names of the Kagyu lamas, like a flawless golden rosary, are difficult to even mention, but I will mention a little. Furthermore, the various names of the Mahamudra Indian lineage are now mostly drawn from Tilopa and Naropa. This is because Lord Marpa received empowerment from Naropa in the mandala of the emanation of Hevajra (藏文:ཀྱཻ་རྡོར།,梵文天城体:हेवज्र,梵文罗马拟音:Hevajra,汉语字面意思:黑汝嘎), and because he understood the meaning and wisdom of the empowerment, the profound teachings of Mahamudra related to ease of practice were established independently. For this lineage, it is absolutely reasonable to want to transmit it to Je Ritrö father and son. Because the wise men of the past also thought so. Why? Because Marpa himself said in his song: I met the feet of Lord Maitri, and obtained the praise of the profound tantra in the form of song, I cultivated realization in the great Dharma Mahamudra, I determined the reality of mind and things, I saw the essence of the meaning of the ground Dharma-nature. And he said: By the grace of the great Lord, I realized that the ground Dharma-nature is unborn, I grasped the mind of emptiness, and from then on, my elaboration ceased. Just as he said. Nowadays, yogis do not conduct detailed research on the source of the lineage because they have to promise to see the lama as the actual Buddha and that all dharmas are free from conceptualization, that is probably the reason. Furthermore, the Lamrim of the Kadampa lineage that came from Jowoje Palden Atisha, is now widely known to have gathered three transmissions, namely the three rivers of profound view, vast conduct, and blessing realization, gathered in Je Gampopa. Moreover, coemergent union

寂天的口诀俱生和合是:从金刚持(Vajradhara)依次为大班智达妙吉祥友(Mañjuśrīmitra),然后是日月光(Nyizla Ö),日成就(Nyi-ma'i Dngos-grub),喜金刚(Dgyes-pa'i Rdo-rje),日狮子(Nyima Sengge),天自在(Lha'i Dbang-phyug),他有两个男弟子:寂静者(Śāntipa)和念(Smṛti),两个女弟子:善母(Dge-ba-ma)和名持母(Grags-'dzin-ma)。

The second armor is: Since the oral instructions of the great master Śāntipa are the main thing, that stream of transmission is also gathered. The way of the lineage of the three rivers above is well known in all the texts of the Lamrim, so it is not mentioned here. The coemergent union of Śāntipa's oral instructions is: From Vajradhara successively to the great master Mañjuśrīmitra, then Nyizla Ö, Nyi-ma'i Dngos-grub, Dgyes-pa'i Rdo-rje, Nyima Sengge, Lha'i Dbang-phyug, he had two male disciples: Smṛtipa and Śāntipa, two female disciples: Dge-ba-ma and Grags-'dzin-ma. Among them, Smṛti came to Tibet, his disciple was Rta-nag Tshul-khrims Snying-po, he passed it on to Sba-sgom Bsod-nams Ye-shes, it is said that he taught it to Kha-rag Sgom-chung. The disciple of the great master Śāntipa was Jo-bo-rje Atiśa, he passed on the instructions of coemergent union to Nag-tsho Lotsāwa Tshul-khrims Rgyal-ba, he passed it on to Bya-sor-ba, he passed it on to Rgya Lcags-ri Gong-ka-ba, it is said that rJe Mnyam-med Dwags-po Lha-rje heard it from him. This is seen from the oldest writings, so it is drawn to a place of trust. The order of realizing Mahāmudrā as it is, the lineage that comes from the great Jetsun Marpa is: The complete Buddha, the great Vajradhara, the Bhagavan Vajrayoginī, the great Brahmin Saraha, the noble Nāgārjuna, the singer Śavaripa, this is the general statement. There is also the saying of Saraha the elder and the younger, that is, from Saraha to Śavaripa, and also counting from Vajradhara to Śavaripa. These are the ways of the accomplished ones, so it is okay. Then Maitrīgupta, he passed it on to Marpa Lotsāwa Chos-kyi Blo-gros, he passed it on to Mila, he passed it on to Dwags-po Lha-rje Zla-'od Gzhon-nu. Then it spread widely to the disciples, here is Phagmo Drupa Dorje Gyalpo, he passed it on to Smar-pa Shes-rab Ye-shes, Sha-yang dgon-pa Ye-shes Rgyal-mtshan, Rmogs-spyan Snga-ba Byang-chub Grags-pa, Sha-dbu-rtse Bsod-nams Ye-shes, he also heard the Mahāmudrā transmitted from Nyag-ras Se-bo, so it is also counted as one river gathering. He passed it on to Snal Rin-chen Gling-pa or Rin-chen Rgyal-mtshan, Dpang Mkhan-chen 'Od-zer Bla-ma, Shing-mgo Dkon-mchog Rgyal-mtshan, Rngu-ban Chos-kyi Rdo-rje, it is said that he is the incarnation of the accomplished Kukkuripa.
