One of them went to a secluded place, attained the samadhi of the second dhyana, and proclaimed, "Alas, this is the joy and happiness that arises from seclusion!" When everyone heard this, they meditated and attained the samadhi of the second dhyana, and then gradually transferred and were born in the place of the second dhyana of clear light. Then, the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-three Gods, and the four places that rely on the sky, like humans, gradually attained the samadhi of the second dhyana, and all were born in the second dhyana. Those in the first dhyana transferred to the second dhyana, and from below the second dhyana to the bottom of the two hells, there was not a single sentient being, not even a breeze, so it did not rain, and all the trees and forests dried up. Seven suns gradually rose, and Mount Meru, the four continents, along with the abodes of the gods, were burned by fire, becoming one great flame, which the wind drove downwards, burning the empty places of the lower realms, and when it met the fire of hell, first the fire of hell burned the fire of the end of time upwards, and then, because of the strong force of karma, the fire of the end of time burned the fire of hell downwards, burning the upper hell realms. Simultaneously with the burning of Avici Hell, the sentient beings there were reborn in the Avici Hell of other worlds in the time it takes to open and close their eyes. Then, the flames returned upwards, burning the empty places of the upper god realms, and everything below the second dhyana was emptied, becoming a pile of ashes, and those in the second dhyana transferred to the third dhyana, and from the place of the second dhyana, substances with the essence of clouds and water formed, and many rains as thick as yokes and plow handles fell, washing away the previous ashes into mud. When those in the third dhyana attained the samadhi of the fourth dhyana and transferred, the wind mandala Uru Uru below rose upwards, and everything below the third dhyana became like ashes scattered by the wind, until it became one empty space, and this took twenty intermediate kalpas. Then, when it became one empty space, it took another twenty intermediate kalpas, and in the time of the four stages of formation, abiding, destruction, and emptiness, a total of eighty intermediate kalpas were experienced, which is called one great kalpa. This is the way of meditation, and there are other explanations. Thus, just as the external world of containers and contents is impermanent, so too is this body of our own within.

The body is a vessel, and consciousness is like the sentient beings within the vessel. First, it forms in the mother's womb until birth; it exists from childhood until sickness; it is struck by the disease of death and perishes until death. The white path is destroyed by water, the red path is destroyed by fire, the black path is destroyed by wind, and fainting is a moment of emptiness. Therefore, all external and internal vessels and contents are impermanent. Meditate on this by dividing sessions and intervals, alternating observation and meditation, so that it is beneficial at the time of death, which is good. Think that there is nothing but harmful sins, and if there are harmful sins, as the venerable Mila said, although sins have no merit, repentance can eliminate sins, which is the merit of sins, so repent of sins. If there is no virtue, what should be done now to achieve it? Therefore, from now on, one must take stock of virtues and sins in one's own mind, otherwise, if one takes stock of virtues and sins at the time of death, and there are only sins and no virtues, one will think, 'The father is not like a father, the mother is not like a mother, and the wishes are not fulfilled.' Eyes fill with tears, the chest is covered with nail marks, and the heart is filled with sorrow and regret, and one must go to the long road of the next life. Therefore, one must repeatedly think, 'Should I die without doing some pure Dharma that is beneficial at the time of death?' In the time of uncertain death, one must die, the time of death is uncertain, and at the time of death, nothing is beneficial. These three should be meditated on by dividing sessions and intervals. Among them, first, one must die, because if there is birth, there is inevitably the law of death, just like the sun setting in the west or livestock being taken to the slaughterhouse, every moment is passing, every instant is passing, and life is being exhausted. Just like an eighty-year-old person and a one-day-old baby, both are like a hundred years old, and there is no difference between the two, so the principle of having to die is easy to understand. When death is uncertain, this is because it has not arisen in the mind. When death is uncertain, it means do not think that you will not die because you are young, do not think that you will not die because you have the favorable conditions of food and clothing, and do not think that you will not die because you are not sick. If you must have the confidence that you will not die, either the Buddha, the all-knowing one, has prophesied that you will not die at this time, or you have the uncontaminated clairvoyance to know that you will not die at this time, or you have met Yama, the Lord of Dharma,
