Taking countless births in various forms such as Na, the ways in which he matured sentient beings are beyond words. Among those, some are mentioned in the Sutra of Increasing Wisdom and others. Here, a few rough outlines will be mentioned. In the past, the Bhagavan himself, known as King All-Beautiful, abiding in the Great Vehicle, became the ruler of the four continents. At that time, he thought, "Just as the previous Chakravartins did, I too shall rule the kingdom in accordance with Dharma. If I engage in non-Dharma, the name of king is meaningless." So he asked the ministers, "What teachings did the previous kings follow in ruling the kingdom, so that the kingdom would not decline but prosper?" They replied, "O Lord, we do not understand the meaning of that. Near here, there are hermits with five kinds of clairvoyance, skilled in Dharma and scriptures. Please summon them, and they will tell the stories of the previous Chakravartins." The king listened to them and, with great respect, summoned the hermits who had renounced their homes to the king's oceanic palace. Among those eighty million kotis of hermits, most possessed clairvoyance, had practiced virtue for a long time, and desired to benefit beings. The king, together with his retinue, greeted them with great reverence at a certain distance, generating the perception of a teacher. He prostrated and began to converse with the hermits. At that time, to accomplish the deeds of a Chakravartin, about eighty thousand people who recited past histories gathered. The king called all of them "Yes." Those hermits and people spoke of the essence of the past histories of the Chakravartins, speaking of the treatises on the king's laws. They spoke of how the Chakravartins ruled the kingdom, how they maintained and followed it. The king also listened to what the hermits and people said, and like a Chakravartin, he ruled the kingdom, generating a mind of love towards all sentient beings, following the Dharma in ruling the kingdom, cultivating the four Brahmaviharas, and making the

All of them were born in the Brahma world by arranging the four abodes of Brahma, and gradually attained great enlightenment. Furthermore, in a previous life, this teacher was born as a sage named Golden Hair. He obtained the knowledge of previous lives. He remembered that in a previous life he had been a Chakravartin king. From a sage with five superknowledges and great majesty, he heard that abstaining from killing grasps the path to higher realms, and that grasping the path of exhausting afflictions grasps the path to omniscience. After hearing this, I thought, 'The path to going everywhere, knowing it is very good.' The cause of accomplishing the path to going everywhere is karma, and the cause of karma is affliction. The cause of that depends on improper attention. Thus, karma accomplishes the power of maturation. Knowing that if one properly discerns and is without afflictions, one can attain nirvana where the aggregates of karma and maturation cease, he led many beings onto that path. By that root of virtue, he thoroughly knew the knowledge of all dharmas. First, the arts and crafts, then medicine and the science of life, and accumulating resources with the intention of making beings free from disease. In reality, it is accumulating the tenets of terminology and one's own resources, and for the sake of truly protecting them, he taught the treatise on weapons. After that, in order to accomplish the undertaking, he taught the treatise on astrology. Then, in order to reverse suffering and attain happiness, he taught the knowledge of liberation. Furthermore, in order to eliminate the suffering of beings, he also taught the arts and crafts, various kinds of activities, knowing the three times, grammar, the science of signs, and various kinds of prognostication. Furthermore, when the king was born as a sage named Knowing Existence, he knew all the distinctions of the perceiver and formations, knew good and evil, knew what was done, and having studied and become skilled in all worldly arts and crafts, he thought, 'Is there any craft that, when learned, is without birth, destruction, death, and displeasure?' As he pondered in this way, he did not find any craft. These actions are like the vessels of a potter, without beings and without death.

It is known. If sentient beings do not engage in fabrication, they think there is no death and birth, and thus having attained such a samadhi and abiding in it, they remember the different bodies of sentient beings, and remember the different self-natures of each sentient being as numerous as the fine dust of the fields. They also remember by what causes and conditions that was accomplished. Thinking from where to obtain the knowledge that the self-nature that is not fabricated will not manifest? Knowing that there is nothing other than not fabricating, and that it is through ignorance and craving that fabrication is done, thus it is accomplished. Realizing that without that, existence will not be accomplished, thus the wise ones generate the light of wisdom in that way, and it is seen that they have become irreversible. Moreover, a dancer named "Going Forth Heroine," who was born as someone with an excellent appearance and skilled in dance, when many people gathered to her and their eyes were fixed on watching, in the midst of the assembly, she taught the Dharma in verses with the melody, "These youths go like the mountain's water." In that way, she placed many people in benefit and happiness. Moreover, a magician named "Various Crafts," having become such, displayed various kinds of magical crafts in front of many people, and showed all dharmas as being like illusions, thus benefiting many sentient beings. Moreover, a Gandharva named "Understood by All," with the appearance of producing hundreds of thousands of musical sounds from a single string of a lute, making the assembly of beings happy, he went alone to a solitary place, thinking, "These beings are deceived by the sound of this lute, and do not know that this sound is of the nature of cessation." Therefore, by properly examining it, through appearance he knew, and through seeing he obtained the patience of realization, and thus teaching the Dharma, he placed many beings in the irreversible state. Moreover, in the past, on a rocky mountain there lived a blacksmith, who had a beautiful daughter. He vowed not to give her away for the sake of lineage, appearance, or wealth, but to give her to someone who had the same craft as himself. A Brahmin boy went to his house to beg for food, and the daughter, carrying food, asked him, "Have you given it to others or not?" He said, "My father said he would give it to someone who has the same or better craft than me." Therefore, he did not give it to anyone.

It is difficult to give! How does your father know the craft? He said: I know it as well as a needle can float on water. The Brahmin boy thought: Although I will not marry this girl, I will break her pride. So he borrowed the blacksmith's tools from the blacksmith, and even though he put seventy thin needles into the eye of a thick needle, he made it float on the water. Then he went to the blacksmith's house and asked: Who buys needles? The girl said: You are either crazy or mindless, why sell needles at the blacksmith's house? He said: I am not crazy or anything, but I want to show how I complete the craft. The girl said: What kind of craft do you know? He said: I know how a needle floats on water. So she called him in and put water, and if one to seven needles were put in, they would float, and if that thick needle was put in, it would also float, and even if seven needles were put in the eye of that needle, it would float on the water. The blacksmith thought: This person is more skilled than me! So he adorned the girl with all the ornaments and gave her away, but the Brahmin boy said: I am not here for this, I only showed the craft to break your pride, and said that he did not marry the girl. The blacksmith at that time was the Bhagavan, the other blacksmith was the wandering heretic, and that girl was the incomparable mother, and even now she is offering this but not accepting it, he said. Again, there was a person named Legtok the Blacksmith, who was born as someone who was skilled in blacksmithing and crafts and whose fame spread in all ten directions. Again, when someone named Weapon Blacksmith Gyal De, who was born as an outstandingly skilled craftsman, was urged by the gods with verses, he heard the Dharma from the Infinite Tathagata, "Knowing that all dharmas are unborn is the best of all crafts," and in that very place he obtained forbearance of the Dharma of non-birth. Again, when a king named Sage Loden Gyamtso became someone who was detached from desire by the path of outsiders and full of love for the world, he searched in the forest for the six tastes, thinking about what would benefit the wind and so on. The gods of the forest folded their palms and said: The tastes of the various trees are these
