There, when the dance performance ended, the king first asked the chief: Why do you adorn the unparalleled mother with cloth? He replied: May the gods listen. When I was infatuated with the qualities of the form of this fallen cloth, she dispelled the darkness of my mind with her well-spoken words, for that reason. The king then asked the son of the ascetic: Why did you place the bark with tree leaves in front of the unparalleled mother? He replied: I wanted to give up asceticism and live at home, but she prevented me from giving up asceticism with her well-spoken words, therefore I honored her. Then he asked the two merchants, and they said: A captain, when going elsewhere, entrusted me with a string of pearls, which I used as a necklace for a lover during my festival. When my wife saw it, she asked me, and he said: A captain placed it in the hands of my master, and your husband himself testified to it. He said: Even if the captain comes, if my husband does not speak, this string of pearls will become common to us. After hearing these malicious words, the two mistresses were also overwhelmed by desire and promised to do so. But her well-spoken words made us abandon the greedy thought of seizing virtue, and thus we embarked on the path to obtaining a good rebirth, therefore we praised her and suddenly threw away the cloths. Then the king asked the minister: Why did you also offer that cloth? That minister knelt down and said: If the god grants me fearlessness, I will speak. The king also granted him fearlessness. That minister privately said to the king: The wicked one, myself, and the chief of the goddesses conspired to put this ruler to sleep.

However, the unparalleled mother spoke well and reversed my unlawful thought, she became like my teacher, so I offered her clothes. After speaking, the king heard these words and said to them, "Good." Then, he summoned the unparalleled mother, gave her great wealth, and honored her, praising her with praises, and then everyone returned to their own dwellings. Therefore, we should respect Bodhisattvas, because by the power of their wisdom, even with just one verse of good speech, they can accomplish great benefit for many sentient beings. ༈ Also, in the past, in a wealthy and happy place, in the royal residence called Jopo Rock, the Blessed One had surpassed many treatises, and with great qualities such as taming and patience, had become a guide like a friend to all beings in the world—the Sugata, who illuminates the path of goodness for beings. There, in Varanasi, having heard that a prostitute like a goddess, named Beautiful Mistress, controlled many guides. In order to dispel her arrogance about her appearance, the Sugata went to Varanasi with many friends. Those with flaws said to the chief prostitute: Your beauty attracts everyone like bees to lotuses. Now, send a messenger to greet that wise and clear Sugata, and lure him with sweet words, so that he is under your control. According to what they said, she sent a messenger who spoke clearly, and respectfully said to the Sugata: This one who steals the glory of all the chief prostitutes says, please come here as if it were your own home, please take care of us. There, the chief courtesan, seeing Leg-gro, stood up, happily laughing, looking out of the corner of her eye, displaying various flirtatious and seductive gestures, and speaking various words of desire with the thought of wanting to meet at night. There, Leg-gro spent that night enjoying himself with the chief courtesan, and at dawn, he gave her a pearl necklace worth a hundred thousand. On the second day, he adorned her with gold ornaments. On the third day, he gave her only a small amount of silver ornaments, and the chief courtesan became angry and reported to the king, saying, "I have been treating him with increasing affection every day, so why is Leg-gro becoming less and less pleased?" The king summoned Leg-gro and had him speak with the chief courtesan. That good woman said, "Your Majesty, what is the use of speaking to a heart that has no joy? It is like building a bridge where there is no water. Even if I show joy to Leg-gro, there is no result." The king said, "Give an answer to the king." Leg-gro said, "This woman who is being sold is inherently flawed. Seeing that her body changes at different times, I have given her different ornaments. Just as bees abandon old flowers, people desire things as long as they are pleasing, and when they are old, they abandon them and pursue new ones. Things themselves arise and cease in an instant due to their nature. Youth is taken away by old age, and life is taken away by death, and everything is impermanent. Those who do not understand that the suffering of old age and death steals the stability of the mind become deluded by clinging to what is called a woman, a box of impurity made of bones, and become foolish. The wise consider attachment to women to be the source of many faults."

Furthermore, in a previous life, when the Blessed One himself had become the king of the gods, Indra, there was an ascetic living in a forest dwelling, and wild animals and birds also happily stayed near him like disciples. There, a very adorable baby female elephant was born, and when it was separated from its mother, that sage treated it with affection like a son. The baby elephant also held lotus roots and lotus petals, etc., and offered them into the hands of that sage. It lived near the hut of leaves, and wherever the sage went, it would lead him, and carry back animal skins, etc., on him, and it helped in most of the sage's tasks. One day, the baby elephant followed its mother and wandered into the forest. When that sage had performed fire offerings and was about to eat, he searched for the baby elephant but could not find it. So he stopped eating and, looking at its footprints, searched for it and saw it suckling its mother's breast, and he became sorrowful. The baby female elephant saw the sage and went to greet him. The sage, with tears filling his eyes, stroked its head with his hand and said, "What is the use of you sucking your mother's breast? Drink water and come to our dwelling place." Having led it back, he made a hut of leaves for it and, day and night, with the thought of protecting it, he treated it with great affection. The Bodhisattva Indra, with his divine eye, saw that the ascetic had a very strong attachment to the baby elephant and thought, "This sage has abandoned relatives and pleasing things and lives in the forest, but he is particularly attached to the baby elephant, and not having obtained the power of discriminating wisdom, he must be tamed by some means." So Indra went there and manifested as a deadly disease afflicting the baby elephant, which was hindering the sage's virtuous deeds. That sage, without examining it, asked, "What is this?" and...
