At night, when all the people in the house were asleep, she carried her husband's corpse on her shoulder and wandered around the mountains and cemeteries, thinking of the corpse as her real husband, saying all sorts of things and kissing it. Gradually, the corpse rotted and became just a pile of bones, but she still did not abandon it, but cherished it. When the sun was hot, she said, "My husband is tired." Then she bathed it, wove garlands of flowers, etc., doing as one would do for a living person, kissing it and speaking sweetly, saying all sorts of respectful and affectionate words, wandering around everywhere. At night, she fumigated the bedding with flowers and the scent of agarwood, saying, "Noble son, please come here! Please sit on this bed!" Then she placed the bones on the bed, embraced it, and slept. A Bodhisattva, together with the people and a gathering of disciples, saw her behavior and said, "Alas! This unreal conceptualization has made her so deluded, I must also cure her with a method." The disciples said, "What is impossible for those who have wisdom!" and were amazed. Then, the Bodhisattva, with a mind of compassion, went at night to the terrifying cemetery where the woman was. There, he saw terrifying flesh-eating demons covering the place, and he bound the hair of his disciples with a protective mantra. He thought, "The body of a woman, which people are attached to and cling to, is just these foul-smelling corpses that are clearly visible in the cemetery! To embrace and cling to such things is truly deluded!" He was overwhelmed by compassion. There, he asked his disciples, and when dawn arrived, he said, "You go to the city to heal the sick! I will use a method to make that woman steadfast." Having said this, he sent the disciples away. The Bodhisattva waited for the woman's command.

I will fetch water to wash your face and adorn your delightful eyes." Saying this, she went towards the water, and seeing her own reflection in the clear water, she thought, "This beauty is going to steal my husband." So she spoke various harsh words to the reflection, and finally, in anger, she threw stones at it, but it did not disappear. She said, "If you do not leave, I will seize the noble son and leave, and you will never see him again." Saying this to her reflection, she placed the skeleton on her shoulder and left. She saw a Keśapa (ascetic with matted hair) and thought, "Why is this man holding a woman and running away from others? I should ask him." So she said to the Keśapa, "Why are you following, suspecting that I am going with my husband? I am not a flesh-eating woman, so abandon your suspicion and speak!" The Bodhisattva said, "Sister, I am not afraid of you, but I am taking this wife who does not desire other men and going where there are no people. My woman is so beautiful that even the gods are delighted, and I am fleeing because I fear she will be stolen by your lover. My beloved does not love other men, and upon seeing your lover, she closed her eyes in shame. I will hold her and dwell in a mountain cave for a long time." That woman said, "Noble one, there is no need for such suspicion. Just as your wife is virtuous and does not desire other men, my lover is also virtuous. Those whose conduct is the same are good friends." Saying this, she was delighted. Then the Bodhisattva said, "If you are a woman who abides by the conduct of a husband, then let us dwell together by this river."

The woman, with tears in her eyes, said, "I have always adorned you, respected you, and loved you constantly, but today you have stolen another's family. You who are disobedient and fruitless, you did not think of me!" One moment she was angry, the next moment she was in pain, and the next moment she was wailing. The Bodhisattva said to her, "It is useless to cry like this shamelessly for the loss of pleasure. Didn't you say that your husband didn't want other women? That evil husband of yours stole my very lovely beauty, leaving me empty and without support. Make him come back quickly!" The woman covered her throat with her clothes and said, "That noble one cannot return, but I have a daughter of my husband who has a lovely form, and I can give her to you." The Bodhisattva said, "I don't need other goddesses, I only need my wife who has the most beautiful face. If he doesn't come back, I will smash your head into powder with this big stone." He pretended to be angry, picked up a large stone, and prepared to hit the woman, and she was frightened and clung to his feet, saying, "I am a poor and helpless woman, please forgive my faults and do not kill me." The Bodhisattva said to her, "If you do not disobey my words, I will not hit you with this stone, and you will also become happy." She agreed, saying, "So be it."
