All who were the king's retinue were divided into six categories of royal families, and those six categories were also pleased. How did the Brahmin divide them? They also heard such praise: Just as the wise and bright one has done, those places that we have long considered are now divided as ours. Then, the six long-legged princes of the king said to the Brahmin: O Khenpo, just as you show to King Dust, please also show to us from now on. The Brahmin also agreed, saying: It shall be done thus. Thereafter, the Brahmin Krishnajata showed to King Dust and the six royal families of the retinue, and seven royal families like great Sala trees, seven Brahmins like great Sala trees, seven householders like great Sala trees, and forty well-matched wives of those. He also had five hundred Brahmin children recite the secret mantras of the Brahmins. He also showed to those who train, elephant riders, horse riders, swordsmen, archers, attendants, stone throwers, dancers, the brave sons of the king, guards, barbers, and many bathers. There, the Brahmin's name became the great Krishnajata. Thereafter, that great Brahmin was revered as Brahma by the Brahmins, revered as a god by the king, and revered as a king by the town and village people. The Brahmins thought that the great Brahmin Krishnajata had known and seen the path of Brahma, and had completely and perfectly abided in it. Similarly, the king and all the villagers also thought so. Then, the great Brahmin Krishnajata thought: Since everyone respects me and says that I have perfectly abided in the path of Brahma, but I neither know the path of Brahma nor have I seen and perfected it. I heard from my father, the Brahmin: If any Brahmin dwells in solitude for four months in the summer, in a state of compassionate meditation, Brahma will come to him. Therefore, I intend to do so for four months in the summer. First, a temporary farewell to King Dust.

Please listen to the teachings of other teachers. I wish to stay in solitude for a while, practicing the meditation of compassion. Please also be aware of when the abbot's time has come. Then he said to the seven royal castes, seven Brahmins, seven householders, and forty wives: "Knowledgeable ones, for a while, do not be distracted, but stay at home with caution. I wish to spend the four summer months in solitude, practicing the meditation of compassion." They replied, "As you wish." He also said the same to five hundred Brahmin youths: "Listen carefully and master all the knowledge that should be understood. As for other tamers and bathers, etc., knowledgeable ones, seek other teachers for a while. I will spend the four summer months in solitude, practicing the meditation of compassion." Then, that great Brahmin built a mansion to the east of the city and spent the four summer months in solitude, practicing meditation, and Brahma came to him. When there was one day left in the four summer months, he thought: "I have heard this from my father, but Brahma has not come to me." Then, Brahma, the lord of the Sahā world, knowing his thoughts, just as a strong man extends and retracts his arm, came from the Brahma world to his mansion. At that time, the entire mansion was filled with great light, and when the light descended to the lower part of the night, he saw that light and said: "Such a color, I have neither seen nor heard. Friend with a beautiful face and bright color, who are you?" Brahma said: "For the gods and Brahma's retinue, and other retinues as well, a wise young man like you, the black-haired practitioner should now know." In this way, questions and answers were given in verses. The black-haired practitioner thought: "I have temporarily obtained the benefits of this life, and now I should begin to inquire about the benefits of the next life." He asked the young Brahma who pervades everything about the doubts in his heart: "Where does one dwell, and what does one study, to attain the immortal Brahma world?" The Brahmin replied: "In the midst of people, abandon the thought of 'I will do,' become one who is alone, devoted to compassion, without defilement, and detached from sexual activity."

B. If one dwells here and trains here, one will attain the immortal world of Brahma. The great Brahmin thought, "I understand the meaning of the first and second lines of the verses spoken by Brahma, but I do not understand the meaning of the third line, 'without impurity,' etc." Then he asked, "Brahma, what is the impurity in humans?" He replied: All the worlds are like a stream of doubt. Those who are obscured by it will fall into evil destinies and suffer. They do not know the path to attain Brahma. Anger, falsehood, resentment, harm, stinginess, manifest pride, intolerance, desire, hatred, delusion, jealousy, avarice, and remorse—these are the impurities in humans, O Brahmin. All the worlds are like a stream of doubt. Those who are obscured by it will fall into evil destinies and suffer. They do not know the path to attain Brahma. Then, the great Brahmin thought, "As I understand the meaning of what Brahma has said, it is not easy for householders living at home to practice pure, unmixed, complete, and thoroughly purified brahmacharya for as long as they live. I will shave my hair and beard, wear saffron robes, and with only pure faith, renounce my home and go forth." Knowing his intention, he said, "To be born in Brahma, make a firm effort here. This Dharma is pure and eternal." Having said this, he disappeared. After those four months of summer had passed, King Dust went to that Brahmin, prostrated at his feet, and sat to one side. The Brahmin said, "I am not happy, please rule the kingdom yourself." The king said, "Whatever you desire that is not satisfied, I will satisfy. If anyone harms you, I will kill them. Please do not abandon me." The Brahmin said, "O King, it is not that I am not satisfied, nor has anyone harmed me, but having heard the words of a non-human, I am no longer happy with the foundation of a home." Thus, they conversed with each other in verses, expressing the desire to renounce the world with the words of Brahma. The king also said, "Wherever you go, I will also go. You are my teacher, and I will be your shravaka disciple." The king's desire for attachment to him

It was also said, "In order to be born in Brahma's realm, practice pure conduct." Then, that great Brahmin said to the six royal lineages, "If I renounce, what will you do?" They said, "Preceptor, please stay for seven years, and we will place our sons and others on the throne and then renounce after you." The Brahmin said, "Seven years is too long, because desires become attached, enjoyments become intoxicating, and it is difficult to know when life will end, so even if seven years pass, it is uncertain whether one will renounce or not, so for now, I will renounce." They discussed from six years to one year, and from seven months to seven days. The Brahmin said, "Seven days is not long, but the enjoyment of desires is intoxicating, and it is difficult to know when life will end, so even if seven days pass, it is uncertain whether one will renounce or not, so for now, I will renounce." Then, the Brahmin said to the seven Sala trees and others, and to the five hundred Brahmin sons, and to all the trainers and others, "After the preceptor renounces, we will also renounce after him." Then, the great Brahmin Kṛṣṇa-born shaved his hair and beard, put on saffron robes, and renounced. There, Prince Dust and many hundreds of thousands of attendants, as well as the six royal lineages and the seven great Brahmins, and the horse and elephant trainers, and all the people up to the bathers, also renounced after him. After that great Brahmin Kṛṣṇa-born renounced, he abandoned the five hindrances of afflictions: those that make the mind weak, those that make wisdom dull, those that are in accordance with the harmful side, and those that make one unable to transcend sorrow. He cultivated a mind of loving-kindness, a mind without enemies, without harm, vast and immense, immeasurable, focusing completely on one direction, and abiding having made it pervasive and complete. Likewise, the second, the third, and the fourth directions, above and below, and in all directions, he abided having pervaded this entire world with a mind of loving-kindness. Likewise, pervading with compassion, joy, and equanimity.
