Furthermore, the king abandoned the prince and handed him over to the executioners to take away. The prince saw a corpse and asked, "Is this dead, or is it alive and dying?" The executioners brought the prince back and presented him to the king, saying those words. The king asked the same four questions as before, but the prince still said nothing. The king handed the prince over to the executioners again. The prince saw a large pile of rice and thought, "If this pile of rice is not eaten from the beginning, it will become infested with insects, right?" The executioners presented the prince to the king again and said those words. The king asked as before, but the prince still said nothing. The king handed the prince over to the executioners again, telling them to dig a pit in the garden and bury the prince. They took the prince away and began to dig the ground. The prince asked, "Did the charioteer say that the king ordered to dig a pit here and bury the prince?" Then, the prince thought that these executioners were cruel and lived by killing, and he was afraid. So he said to the executioners, "If the gods could grant me a favor, I would enter the city of Foot and speak." The executioners told these words to the king, and the king said, "If the prince wants the kingdom, it can also be given to him." The king was very happy, so he decorated all the roads of the city. Then, the prince entered the city as a mute cripple, and people were amazed, and hundreds of thousands of creatures gathered together. The prince entered the city limping and touched the king's feet, saying, "O King, I am not a mute cripple, nor am I a foolish and ignorant person. I will express myself with clear words." and other verses, saying, "All my senses are intact, because I remember my previous life. Before, I acted as regent among humans for sixty years, and I remember experiencing unbearable suffering in hell for sixty thousand years. I don't want to go to hell again, so I have no interest in the throne. Please allow me to renounce." The king said, "Asceticism and offerings are for the sake of the throne, why do you renounce the throne that is within your grasp?" The prince said, "Like the Kimpa fruit."

Do not indulge in desires. One should practice celibacy, which is like the taste of nectar fruit. The king said: Son, if all the happiness you experience is due to the kingdom, why do you abandon it? The youth said: I do not consider that happiness which arises from suffering to be happiness. I do not consider that suffering which arises from happiness to be suffering. Please, father, grant me permission. I will go to the ascetic forest. The king said: Son, for a while, stay in the magnificent palace adorned with incense and flowers, enjoying the pleasures of food, clothing, ornaments, and music. Why sleep on a grass mat under a tree in a monastery, lying with fierce wild animals, wearing clothes made of bark, eating roots and fruits, and relying on water for drink? Why do you abandon the kingdom and go to the forest? The youth said: In the forest, wearing clothes made of bark and eating fruits, living with fierce wild animals is better. Because the wise fear the afterlife, one should not kill, beat, or imprison for the sake of the kingdom. Please, father, grant me permission. I will go to the ascetic forest. The king said: Son, first resolve these three doubts of mine, and then you will not be inclined to renounce. When you arrived in Varanasi and saw it flourishing, you said, 'Is this empty?' or 'Is there someone living here?' What did you think when you said that? The youth said: Live for the sake of the gods. When I was ordered to be killed without having committed any wrong, and no one spoke the words of Dharma, saying, 'Why kill this youth?', I said that considering these things. The king said: Good. When you saw the corpse, you said, 'Is this dead and dead?' or 'Did the living die?' What did you think when you said that? The youth said: O god, those who die having committed evil deeds are dead and dead; but those who die having done good deeds are the living who have died. I said that considering these things. Good. When you saw a large pile of rice, you said that this pile of rice has not been eaten from the beginning and will rot.

Thinking about this, he said: These gods take and eat the fruits of these farmers' fields when they ripen, and seek debts to eliminate them. In this way, they have already eaten the trunk or root. Similarly, when one obtains a human birth through the ten virtuous actions, if one does not accumulate the path of the ten virtuous actions, then the previous virtue will be interrupted, and if the root of virtue is interrupted, one will fall from the happy realms and remain in the evil realms. Thinking about this, I spoke those words. Then, the king, hearing those words, shedding tears, embraced his son and said: Uphold asceticism, practice your own Dharma, and I also pledge to be your student. Then, King Brahma-given said to the ministers: Wise ones, if this mute youth does not renounce, what will happen? He will become a king of the gods. What will happen to your sons? They will become servants of the gods. If he renounces, why don't your sons renounce? O god, whatever you command. At that time, in a dwelling not far from Varanasi, there lived a loving sage, compassionate and loving to all beings. The mute youth, with five hundred attendants and great wealth, came there, renounced from that sage, and through diligence and effort in receiving his teachings, realized the five superknowledges. Then, at another time, when that sage passed away, the mute youth cremated and offered him with various fragrant woods. He gave the teachings to the five hundred attendant children, and through their efforts, they realized the five superknowledges. At that time, the mute youth, having abandoned the kingdom and manifesting the qualities of meditation in the forest, was none other than the Bhagavan himself, who became a Bodhisattva. Furthermore, when this Bhagavan himself, in a previous life, became an outer teacher named Beautiful Eyes, he was also free from attachment to desires, possessed miraculous powers, and taught the inexhaustible and extremely pure Dharma to hundreds of thousands of retinues. All the Dharma he taught mostly led to the world of Brahma.

I was born with the same fate, and some are holy among gods and humans. Then, the teacher Beautiful Eyes attained the second dhyana. Just as the teacher Beautiful Eyes was, so were the Brahmin's son Subduer and the elephant trainer. Furthermore, in a previous life, the Blessed One himself was an outsider teacher called Mute Practitioner, possessing magical powers, free from attachment to desires, and teaching five hundred Brahmin boys. Then, at another time, the teacher thought, 'Why haven't these boys attained the five superknowledges?' He thought, 'It is because they carry amulets, tree bark pills, staffs, and begging bowls, and they diligently mix herbs and the roots of lotuses, engaging in too many activities.' Thinking, 'If I don't apply a strict method to this, it will be difficult to separate them from it,' the Bodhisattva, skilled in taming, said to the Brahmin boys, 'I want to truly include you inside, but except for one Brahmin boy who steals roots and fruits for me, and the fifteenth day of the Uposatha, none of you should come!' The boys thus established an internal rule. At that time, the teacher Mute Practitioner saw a wild animal from afar and said, 'Wild animal, it is good that you have come, come here! Wild animal, you and I are the same, content with just filling our bellies. But here some are not like that, they diligently engage in mixing herbs and lotus roots.' The Brahmin boys, without a doubt, thought, 'The teacher has completed his ascetic practice and is speaking with a wild animal.' They went to the teacher, prostrated, and sat down, but the teacher said nothing. Then, they thought, 'The teacher does not speak with humans but speaks with wild animals, so the teacher has completed his ascetic practice.' Saying this, they left. Afterward, someone with the conduct of a wild animal went to where the teacher Mute Practitioner was, and he saw him from afar and said, 'One with the conduct of a wild animal, it is good that you have come, come here! You and I are the same, carrying one amulet, one pill, and one staff, and one begging bowl each. You and I are content with just filling our bellies. But here some are not like that, they carry many amulets,'
