During hunting and other activities, Prince Moon surpassed the other princes in splendor and strength. Moon felt compassion for them and remained in a state of loving-kindness. The iron fetters of those princes were naturally released. While they were wondering what was happening, the power of the gods and others, enraged at punishing that evil deed, caused the sky to be filled with extremely thick clouds, obscuring the sunlight. The sound of thunder and hail destroyed the mountaintops. Hail destroyed hailstones and other things, and a strong current of water extinguished the sacrificial fire, leaving the Brahmins without hair. Hearing that hail had killed the king and the Executioner, the queen also died of grief. The palaces were mostly destroyed by the hail, and most of the creatures in that land were destroyed. At dawn, the Bodhisattva cremated the bodies of his parents and said, "Alas! The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, have said that all conditioned things are momentary and impermanent. How well they have spoken!" He spoke words of sorrow to his brothers and then went into the forest of asceticism.

He had a queen named Ground Holder, who was extremely beautiful. Once, a ascetic named Worldly Wealth, born from the Bhṛgu lineage, brought a woman named Padmavati, who was like a daughter of the gods. He praised the king, saying, "This beauty was born from the lotus flower's core, and I have nourished her with the remnants of the fire offering. Please accept her as your consort." She gave birth to a son named Lotus Crown, who was pleasing and had great qualities such as courage. There, when performing a great offering, ascetics such as the son of Bhṛgu and the unbearable ruler of Kuru came. When the fire offering was performed, Indra transformed into the form of a Rakshasa from the midst of the fire. When begging for food, he did not want the various foods given, saying, "I feed on flesh." That Crown Jewel king thought that it was not appropriate to give the flesh of others, so he promised to give the flesh and blood of his own body. Although the family members dissuaded him, it was to no avail, and he gave his flesh and blood. Queen Lotus Holder cried out and fell down. There, seeing the king's courage, Indra revealed his own form, praised him, and restored his body to its original state with divine medicine. Then, the offering was completed well, and the victors and the most excellent ascetics were worshiped. At the end of that, he gave the beauty, villages and cities, a collection of jewels, and a horse with golden garlands like a young god.
