Please immediately cut off my lower body and give it to him. Hearing this, everyone was terrified and dismayed. The minister, Great Wisdom, weeping, tried to dissuade him, saying, "Do not obstruct the unsurpassed Bodhi," but he could not be stopped, and Great Wisdom fainted and fell to the ground. Then, the Bodhisattva said to the two carpenters, "Good people, in order to help me perfect the perfection of giving, use this axe to cut off my body and fulfill the Brahmin's wish!" The two of them wept and were unwilling to proceed, but Indra blessed them to do so. Then, the Bodhisattva, rejoicing in giving away his entire body, as soon as he descended from the lion throne, all the umbrellas, banners, and flags of the entire Jambudvipa bowed towards the king's palace, and various omens and tumultuous sounds occurred. Then, the king made a vow to attain unsurpassed Bodhi, and as one person supported him from behind, and his two legs were stretched out and he lay on his back, the great earth shook. The concubines and women, hearing this, wept and beat their breasts, and pleaded with the king. Because all suffering would be separated from them, he advised them to be mindful of virtue, and said to the two carpenters, "Cut quickly!" And as he said, they cut him. Great Wisdom stopped them, saying, "If you kill this great being of loving-kindness, how will the gods, nagas, and others leave you on this earth? You two foolish people, has this great being not raised you like sons?" Saying, "Alas, gods!" he seized the axe and stopped them. The Bodhisattva said to him, "Child, stop, do not grieve. Because all suffering will be separated, do not obstruct me from giving my body. In the past, when I gave my body, the goddesses obstructed me, causing obstacles to my attainment of unsurpassed Bodhi, and many non-meritorious deeds arose for them. If the goddesses had not obstructed me then, I would have attained unsurpassed Bodhi without delay. In this place, I gave my body to save a hungry tigress, and because of that, Bodhisattva Maitreya entered forty kalpas, and so it was delayed." Immediately he gave away his two eyes, which were as beautiful and immaculate as blue lotuses. When he became King Chandra, he gave his head to the fierce Brahmin. When he became the dead king, he cut off and gave away his own flesh to protect the helpless pigeon being chased by the hawk. Furthermore, because I desired the unexcelled, perfect enlightenment, I gave away my feet and hands, sons and daughters, and thousands of wives in this very place, and no one obstructed me. Therefore, you should not obstruct me. Then, Mahamati, having developed faith in the conduct of the Bodhisattva, thought that the great Dharma king was about to be abandoned, and spoke various words. These two were deluded by Indra, so the two carpenters sawed him. Seeing a great amount of blood flowing from the severed navel, Mahamati fell to the ground. The gods in the sky also wept and shed tears. Seeing this, the people also mostly suffered and became bewildered. Indra also said to the great assembly of beings, seeing the Bodhisattva afflicted by sorrow, it is not good to always apply actions of intense feeling to the body of such a great being. Now, how should we act so as not to endanger his life? Then, the Bodhisattva, tormented by the intense feeling of being cut by the sharp saw of the two carpenters, and with loving-kindness arising from the strength of his steadfastness, thought: I know the nature of the faults of samsara, and if I cut off one part of my body with steadfast effort, such suffering arises. What need is there to mention the suffering of most sentient beings who are born in hell? Then, in his mind, for the sake of all sentient beings, with a strong vow to put on armor, as soon as he made the prayer to eliminate the suffering of all sentient beings, all the feeling of the Bodhisattva's body being cut was immediately and completely stopped. Then, the Bodhisattva thought: Why has the feeling of my body being cut ceased? Has the saw been removed? So he looked at the saw. Having looked, he trembled with extreme displeasure. Indra, knowing his thought, said: Like a weak patient, what is it, O King?

and trembled. If you are famous throughout the world for giving everything, you should not regret it, have you not become false? The Bodhisattva said: The trembling and regret are not because of that Brahmin, but because this knife has deeply cut into the lower half of my body, but has not yet severed it. I am worried that my giving to him has not been completed, and the hope of begging has not been fully realized, so my body trembles, not because I am unwilling to be cut violently by the knife. Hearing this, Indra was very surprised and said nothing. The two people who were deluded by Indra used a sharp knife to cut off the lower half of the Bodhisattva's body, immediately placed it on the ground, and it began to move. The Bodhisattva, disregarding the pain of his body being cut, hurriedly said to the two men: Connect my body to the Brahmin's body. The two men did as he said. As soon as they were connected, it was restored, without scars, and the color became the same. The Bodhisattva, for the sake of joy, stood up from his seat, walked, sat down, and stood up. In this way, seeing the beggar's wish fulfilled, the Bodhisattva, with a universally joyful mind, felt that the labor had results, and the hope in his heart was completely fulfilled, thinking: I gave my body to this Brahmin and completely saved him from the painful danger of life. With this root of virtue, may I attain unsurpassed Bodhi, liberate this Brahmin from the suffering of samsara, and place him in the blissful Nirvana. After saying this, he was pained by the intense feeling, and with his mind aspiring to Bodhi, he closed his eyes and fainted. Then, Indra immediately nourished the Bodhisattva's body with medicine that strengthened his power and life. At that time, the universe of the great thousand worlds shook in six ways, and a great sound was emitted. Terrible clouds, meteors, and disorientation appeared, the drums of the gods sounded, and the whole world turned into darkness. The gods in the sky made noisy sounds, scattered flowers and clothes, and played the music of the gods. All the people of Jambudvipa were briefly confused there. End.

我所携带的那些成百上千的动物们，看到菩萨的身体被切成两半后，发出声音说：“哎呀，杀害天神真是痛苦啊！” 有些动物晕倒在地，有些则发出哀嚎。之后，天神之王帝释天带着四个天子，将婆罗门的装束隐去，显现出自己的身形，对菩萨说道：“大国王，我乃天神之王帝释天，并非婆罗门。大国王，太好了！您精进努力，不执着于自己的身体，对一切众生充满慈悲，乐于布施，真是太好了！即使被剧烈的痛苦所折磨，仍然不因慈悲而停止布施自己的身体，这真是太好了！大国王，我问您，您以如此艰难的努力，究竟是为了什么目的？” 菩萨说道：“迦尸迦，我以这个布施，获得无上圆满的菩提，从而将众生从轮回中解脱出来。” 帝释天说道：“您将自己的身体完全舍弃，心是否改变，是否感到后悔？” 菩萨说道：“我不后悔。” 帝释天说道：“如何得知？” 菩萨说道：“就像我的身体被切成两半一样，让它恢复原状吧。” 之后，帝释天将那半截身体恢复到原来的样子。菩萨对一切众生怀着慈爱之心，以偈颂说道：“如果想要获得菩提，因为慈悲而舍弃身体，既不吝啬也不胆怯，如今也不后悔。如果心中没有后悔，以此真实之语和善行，帝释天，现在我的身体，恢复到以前的样子，所有器官都圆满吧！” 话音刚落，菩萨的身体就恢复到以前的样子。天空中的天神们和广大的民众看到这一幕，发出喧哗声，带着惊奇，充满了喜悦的声音。帝释天赞叹菩萨，眼泪如雨般落下，因为我以增长体验的想法，而普遍地造作强烈的感受之业。

The hundreds of thousands of animals I was carrying, upon seeing the Bodhisattva's body cut in half, exclaimed, "Alas, it is painful to kill a god!" Some fainted and fell to the ground, while others wailed. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, along with four sons of the gods, made the guise of the Brahmin disappear and revealed his own form, saying to the Bodhisattva, "Great King, I am Indra, the Lord of the Gods, not a Brahmin. Great King, well done! You are diligent in your effort, not attached to your own body, compassionate to all beings, and delighted in giving. Well done! Even though afflicted by intense suffering, you do not turn away from giving your own body out of compassion. That is well done! Great King, I ask you, what is the purpose for which you undertake this extremely difficult endeavor?" The Bodhisattva said, "Kashika, with this giving, I will attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and liberate all beings from samsara." Indra said, "Having completely given away your own body, has your mind changed, and do you feel regret?" The Bodhisattva said, "I have no regret." Indra said, "How can I know this?" The Bodhisattva said, "Just as this half of my body was cut off, let it be restored to its original state." Then, Indra restored the half of the body to its original state. The Bodhisattva, with a mind of loving-kindness towards all beings, spoke in verse: "If one desires enlightenment, having given up the body out of compassion, being neither miserly nor timid, then today there is no regret. If there is no regret in my mind, by this true speech and virtuous deed, Indra, may my body now be restored to its former state, may all my faculties be complete!" As soon as he spoke, the Bodhisattva's body was restored to its former state. The gods in the sky and the great assembly of people, seeing this, shouted and, with amazement, were filled with joyful sounds. Indra praised the Bodhisattva, and tears fell like rain, for I was universally engaging in the karma of intense feelings with the thought of increasing experience.
