So, together with the queen and two sons and daughters, they bid farewell to the mother. The mother took the opportunity to advise the king, using the pure Dharma to persuade him to bring peace to the country. The mother was pained by grief, saying, if I am separated from my only beloved son, what is the use of my heart being as hard as a diamond? If the gods do not go against my wishes, may my son return to his homeland. At that time, Queen Nikri gave each of them a string of pearl necklaces, and four thousand ministers gave the prince lotus flowers made of the seven treasures. The prince came out of the palace and went to the north gate of the city, and gave all the flowers and necklaces to all the people who had gathered. Tens of thousands of people in that country saw the prince off, and they all felt sorry, thinking: This person is so kind, like the guardian deity of the country, why abandon him? The prince comforted the people who were seeing him off and asked them to return. Then, the prince got into the chariot and drove it himself, and they went far away. While resting under a tree, a Brahmin begged for the horse pulling the chariot, and the prince gave the horse to him. Then the prince pulled the chariot, and the queen pushed it from behind, and they continued on. Then another Brahmin begged for the chariot, and the prince gave the chariot away, so they proceeded on foot. After that, another Brahmin begged, and the prince had no possessions left, so he gave away his precious clothes.

They still had to go to a place called Ridantika, which was a thousand yojanas away by a long road. They went to a remote monastery, and when they were hungry and thirsty, the lord of the gods transformed that monastery into a beautiful city. The people welcomed the prince and provided him with food, drink, and comfortable furnishings. The queen said to the prince, "Having traveled such a long road, I am very tired. Is it not permissible to stay here now?" The prince said, "My father, the king, commanded me to go to Ridantika. If we stay here, it would be contrary to the king's command, and I would not be a filial son." Having said this, he left. As they went on, they reached the vicinity of Ridantika, where they encountered a large, deep river that was difficult to cross. The queen said, "Let us stay here until the water recedes." The prince said, "My father, the king, said to go to Ridantika, so it is not permissible to stay here." Just as he entered into the samadhi of loving-kindness, a great mountain arose from the river, blocking the flow of water. There, the prince and queen changed their clothes, and as soon as they crossed the river, the prince thought to himself, "If I leave, this accumulated water will kill and carry away many sentient beings." So he looked back at the water and said, "O water, flow continuously as you did before, and if I have any desires, may you also liberate me." As soon as he said this, the water flowed as before. Then, as they went on, they found that Ridantika Mountain was lush and verdant, with many trees growing and various birds making pleasant sounds, the springs were sweet, and the fruits were delicious. The prince said, "Looking at this mountain, the trees and forests grow as if they touch the sky, and they have not been cut down or trimmed. There is sweet spring water to drink and sweet fruits to eat. There must be meditators on this mountain, so let us stay here." When the prince arrived there, all the birds, beasts, and animals living on the mountain were delighted and welcomed the prince. At that time, a monk named Achuta, who was five hundred years old and possessed excellent qualities, was dwelling on that mountain.

The queen said: 'If you still cling to the distinction between self and mine, when will you attain the path? Even if you stay on this mountain for that long, if you do not cling to self and mine, being no different from stones and trees, only then will you attain the path.' The monk said: 'I do not know such a correct meaning.' The prince said to the monk: 'Venerable one, have you heard of the prince of the Yava country, the crown prince named Dondrup (义成)?' He said: 'I have often heard of him, but I have not seen him.' The prince said: 'I am he.' The monk asked: 'Where are you going?' The prince said: 'I desire the path of the Mahayana.' The monk said: 'You will soon attain the path of the Mahayana. At that time, may I become your closest attendant, the best of those with magical powers.' Having said this, the monk led the prince and pointed out the place to live. Then, the monk, according to the Dharma, braided the prince's hair, untied the knot, ate wild fruits and fruits for food, and drank spring water for thirst. The prince gathered wood and grass and built a small grass hut for himself to live in, and also built a hut each for Mante and her children. At that time, the boy's name was Yari, seven years old, able to dress himself, and followed after his father. The girl's name was Geno Yan, six years old, wearing animal skins, and followed after her mother. All the wild animals, birds, and beasts living on that mountain were very happy and lived relying on the prince. After the prince went to that mountain and stayed for one day, the previously dry springs and ponds were filled with water. All the dry trees also grew flowers and leaves.
