Having offered the remaining meat and tsampa crumbs, the尊者 tasted the meat, and his body became plump, greatly increasing his meditation power. His mind was clear, his body was comfortable, and his mind became clear, so he had good virtuous deeds. After a day or two, an old shepherd brought some tsampa. He asked, "Are you feeling well today?" The尊者 replied, "I am very well." Then he sang this song. In the palace of White Rock High Peak, Milarepa's meditation practice is comfortable. Walking and dwelling without attachment is comfortable, the illusory body without sickness is comfortable, the sitting posture without sleeping is comfortable, the samadhi without thoughts is comfortable, the tummo without cold is comfortable, the asceticism without discouragement is comfortable, the farming without labor is comfortable. Seclusion without distraction is comfortable, these are the postures of the body. The vehicle of skillful means and wisdom is comfortable, the practice of generation and completion is comfortable, the mind-nature without the coming and going of wind is comfortable, the silence without idle talk is comfortable, these are the postures of speech. The view without grasping is comfortable, the meditation without interruption is comfortable, the conduct without fear is comfortable, the fruit without hope is comfortable, these are the postures of mind. The unchanging, thoughtless, clear light is comfortable, the great bliss, pure realm is comfortable, the unobstructed arising in the expanse is comfortable, this very comfortable short song is a song of experiential practice, a key instruction that flows from the mouth, a song that combines view and conduct. In the future, those who wish to attain enlightenment, if they wish to practice, should practice in this way. After the尊者 said this, the patron was very happy, prostrated many times, and then went home. After a day or two, the patron came with some friends, each carrying a piece of tsampa. They said, "Lama, the song you sang the other day was very good, but we are of shallow wisdom and do not understand it very well. Please sing a short and clear song." So the尊者 sang this song: The blessing of the master is absorbed into the rock, may I, this beggar, be blessed to dwell in the rock. Faith, learning, and discipline, these three are the life force of the mind. If they are established, they will be stable and comfortable. If you want to make them the life force, you should do so. Non-attachment, non-aversion, and non-ignorance, these three are the armor of the mind. If you wear them, they will be light and resistant to swords. If you want to make them armor, you should do so.

Meditation, diligence, and perseverance, these three are the mind's steed. If it runs, it is fast; if it escapes, it is safe. If you want to tame the steed, do it with these. Self-awareness, self-illumination, and self-bliss, these three are the mind's fruit. If planted, it ripens; if eaten, it nourishes. If you want to achieve the fruit, do it with these. These twelve essential points of the mind are taken from the wisdom that arises in the yogi's mind. Please, you patron, give a response of faith. After saying this, the patron, who was a devout butcher named Dorje Mo, said: Please say another, more concise word. So he sang this song again. May the blessing of the lama enter the mind, may it bless the mind to realize emptiness. For the patron's offering of faith, I will sing a song that pleases the deity. Appearance, emptiness, and non-duality, these three are the essence of view. Clarity, non-thought, and non-distraction, these three are the essence of meditation. Non-attachment, non-craving, and non-delusion, these three are the essence of conduct. No hope, no doubt, ultimately accomplishing, these three are the essence of the result. No inherent existence, no concealment, no pretense, these three are the essence of the samaya. After saying this, the patron was pleased and went home. In general, the people of Nyenang, although they had faith, were too poor to offer great service, so they did not obstruct virtue with wealth. After five or six months, they became discouraged due to poverty, so he said not to entrust hope to the whirlwind of starvation. All of this is surrounded by Spo ri spo mthon. Then, after spending six years at Spo ri spo mthon, he went to Brag dmar mchong gling khyung gi rdzong, where he vowed to practice for twelve years, twelve months, twelve days, twelve meals, twelve and a quarter, thinking that it would be good if he died, but the local people did not sense where he was. He meditated, thinking he might die, but there was no sign of dying, and he became dull. He thought, "I have already abandoned worldly affairs. If I don't die, I will practice the Dharma myself." Thinking that he should cook some barley to eat, he went to gather firewood and found a piece of broken wood. He put it on a stone slab, intending to rest, when a wind came and scattered the wood. He thought, "Indeed, everything is impermanent!"
